Instrument Panel Speedometer/odometer problems of the 2017 Toyota Camry

Odometer fraud. The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Camry, which was purchased via facebook marketplace. Shortly after purchase, the check engine warning light illuminated, leading the contact to replace the catalytic converter. Upon using a diagnostic code reader, the contact discovered that the estimated value of the vehicle was significantly less than the actual cost that was paid for the vehicle. The contact purchased the carfax report which revealed that the actual mileage on the vehicle was 297,000; not the 107,000 shown on the instrument panel. The contact subsequently discovered that a fake carfax report was provided at the time of the purchase, which showed that the vehicle was also involved in several crashes and had several prior owners. The contact reported the incident to the dekalb county police department. The purchase was a private sale, and the contact was unable to reach the seller after several attempts.

The contact then obtained the carfax report which confirmed that the last odometer reading was 290,000. The seller was contacted and made aware of the discrepancy.
