36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2021

Left rear cross traffic sensor fell into rear bumper (adhesive failure?). This is the second incident. Toyota service manager claims it was knocked into bumper by external force although that is not what happened. The sensor failed when groceries were loaded into trunk during covid. This is the exact sensor that was repaired by the service department previously claiming it was due to adhesive failure. There is no way to disable the sensor failure alarm on the dashboard display so there is a constant rear sensor failure alarm blinking constantly on the dashboard which is annoying.

Tried starting vehicle in the morning, temp was about 70 degrees, car has the push to start button. Battery has been replaced with an aftermarket yellow top deep cycle battery about 2 months ago. Car had been parked under carport for about 16 hours. The day before car was in the same conditions and started right up no problems.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2020

When I start my car by pressing the start button, the car can't start and said ignition is not ready and many error codes show up on the screen, sometimes it takes 8 to 10 times before car can start and today it can't start at all, I went to check for the car cattery and it is fine, and we changed our key fob battery, but the problem still persists, some website said it is fuel pump issue, and I see some 2018 Toyota Camry is on fuel pump recalll but when I input my VIN, it said it is not under recall, so I am very worried that one day I will get stranded somewhere without notice and don't know what caused the issue, please help. This happens when vehicle is stationary before I start.

41 Electrical System problem

The driver door will not unlock at times the key will not work and the only way to unlock is by going through the passenger side and unlocking the driver door. Also numerous occasions where the car has lost complete power and you have to pull over turn it off and turn it back on.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2020

My wife's 2018 Camry rolled away down our driveway while the shifter was in park. It's got 33k miles on it. On the way down the hill, it clearly engaged the parking pin because it drug the front wheels 10 or so feet before hitting my neighbors house. The car was running, I hopped out after putting it in park and all four doors unlocked. I put a package in the rear driver side, went to open the trunk, my wife (who was sitting in the passengers seat) hit the remote on the keys in the ignition, and the car rolled backwards and nearly hit me. All four doors relocked, the pawl clicked until it engaged as it rolled away. It jumped the street, and park engaged and it slid the last 15 or so feet. The car was still running until my wife removed the key. The shifter assembly was in park the entire time.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2019

This vehicle gave me problems from the beginning. To begin, it began breaking me in the middle of the road going about 45-50 mph. This continued to happen and my Toyota dealer told me that I was a liar. I continued to drive the car, unknowing when it would stop me in the middle of traffic again. It then had electrical problems because the dashboard and radio would go black while I was driving; my air conditioner would stop as well. Also, I was driving on an interstate alone with my cruise control on and it kept breaking me and telling me that there was another car in front of me. This continued for about 30 minutes of constant driving (picture below). The last thing that happened to me in this car was that the lane assist would pull me out of my lane and into another when trying to correct between lines. This happened a few times and Toyota would do nothing about it. My mother was driving my car one day about 75 mph on an interstate and it pulled her off the road to the left. This car gave me nothing but trouble since purchasing it brand new. My car started this trouble within 5 months of me owning the vehicle and Toyota provided no assistance. I was very upset and disappointed that I chose this car above others. I hope Toyota will do their job and fix these problems so another Camry driver may not experience what I, unfortunately, had to.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2019

After heavy snowfall and several days of not driving, the moon roof on my Camry broke. It still goes up and down and opens and closes, but when I choose to bring it down it goes too far down. This resulted in snow/rain to enter my vehicle.

47 Electrical System problem

The crash detector system stop working for the first 15 minutes of driving it happen multiple times I was driving 40 mile per hour.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2018

3 times the collision prevention stop working while I was driving at the high way. You have to turn the car off and then turn it on to for the collision prevention system to work again. And this is so dangerous. The transmission sometimes glitch and not working properly and shifits like crazy. I feel it sometimes that car sounds not right because it should shift smoothly. Air condition when it on cold the fan can give good air streem which is good but when it on heat the fan is so slow and it doesn't give good air streaming. I was trying to find a way to report this to generate recall but I didn't know how until I found your website.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2018

I purchased this car 08/2018 we are now in 10/2018 I have 3k miles on it and it rides rough, sounds like an old car, loud rattly, it just keeps getting worst taking the car today to Toyota bennett in allentown PA today because when making complete stops at a light it jumps forward, the transmission jerks, transmission seems confused it takes a long time to pick up for example when entering a highway and trying to catch up to speed takes long, at a stop light almost got rear ended a few times cause the car just wont move quick enough.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the lane departure feature failed to operate. While driving, another vehicle pulled in front of the contact. The contact struck the front middle portion of the other vehicle. None of the air bags deployed. The driver sustained multiple bruises, a broken sternum, and whiplash and was transported to the hospital for medical attention. A police report was filed. The insurance company was notified of the crash, but had not yet inspected and diagnosed the cause of the failure. The vehicle was towed to a facility. A dealer had not inspected the vehicle yet. Malloy Toyota (400 weems ln, winchester, va 22601, (866) 788-9507) was notified of the abnormal condition before and after the crash, but failed to provide any technical guidance. The manufacturer had issued 4 tsbs for lane departure however, the contact was uncertain if the failure was related to the TSB and they had not issued a recall campaign for a remedy. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 400.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2018

Vehicle is equipped with blind spot detection system. However, system stays on several times even if the vehicle in blind spot passes away, alert still stays on creating confusion and potential hazard during lane changing. I have recorded video proof of the same.
