I got my 2018 Camry brand new. While driving, it will sometimes start jerking. It seems to be getting more frequent and worse. It's almost as if it wants to shut down.
The longer I have this car, the more issues arise yearly. When this car was first bought as new I noticed that the car battery would die whenever I didn't drive for a single day. As the years pass the situation just gets worse. Today I was about to drive to work and found to my dismay that the car refuses to start. I couldn't even unlock my car with the key fob buttons, I had to use the key itself to unlock the car door to get in. The trunk refused to open even with the button inside the car, so I had to once again use my key in the key slot to open. No lights came on when I tried to start the car, usually you can hear the engine struggle to start but not this time. After I had it jumpstarted the engine made a truly weird and strange sound, like rattling but much more higher pitched. Engine also sounded very weak too, much higher pitched than usual, almost like it was going to fade out of power. I have not changed the battery for a bit over 4 years. I don't drive much at all, I have 16k miles accumulated in the 4. 5 years I've had this vehicle. I really want to love this car and own it until 100k but with problems like this I don't think this car will even last another 5 years. I'm thinking of selling this after a few years and getting a Lexus SUV instead. Apparently this battery issue is common in modern Toyotas, particularly sedans. I have other relatives with new Toyotas and they all had to have battery replacement in less than 2 years of ownership. It's a bummer that Toyota qc is going down and they are focusing instead on more technology in the cabin. I can only hope and pray that my car won't quit on me in a dark and empty lot one day.
I just brought this car on June 1 2021 then 2 month engine light came out after that October 1 2021 stop running it doesn’t run no more it start but don’t run at all.
My car started to have issues while driving, especially when I slow down. It wants to die while I’m driving or waiting for traffic so I can turn or entering roundabouts. I recently waited for traffic and found myself turning in front of a semi. I had plenty of time, but through my turn realized that if my car had died that semi would have hit me at 45 mph. There are 2 lights on, check engine and master warning light. I have tried to have the issue fixed twice already and it was better for about 20 miles and then I have the same issue. These issues seem identical to the ones as described in the recalls for the same year make and model of my vehicle, but my specific VIN is not part of the recall. I am concerned it is also part of the same issue. (it seems to have the same symptoms as the recall for the fuel pump issue or the incorrect sized pistons).
I bought my Camry with 5 miles on it. It’s a 2. 5l 8 speed Camry se. Immediately I felt something not right when it would shift between 3/4 gear. It would rock back and forth in a jerking motion. The car has trouble shifting in automatic. When putting it into sport mode it automatically starts at 4th geer. It’s as if the gear shifters are not able to communicate with the engine. It’s stall on me when making a turn and I was almost t-boned June of 2018! finally a recall on the fuel pump. I go take it in immediately to have the recall fix. Upon doing so the mechanic informed me that my vacuum pump seems to be bigger than the one that standard for my car. He said there’s no recall for my VIN number but for other cars during that same year there is. So there was nothing I could do but wait for my VIN number to be on the recall list. Then in June 2021 I was backing out of a parking spot and there was a truck in my rear cross traffic that was approaching, my Camry sensed the vehicle with it sonar sensor the alert went off and my braking assistance worked accordingly but the system failed to get the communication clearly to the engine which in return did not slow down the acceleration of the throttle. So I backed into a truck and my son and myself were in the vehicle. No airbags were dispensed. No injuries but damages to my trunk lid, tail light, brake light and number were damaged. My car now has airbag malfunction and the steering assistance is working correctly.
Vehicle jerks when in motion or before braking. This is dangerous because it could cause an accident. It doesn't seem to properly switch speeds which also cause it to jerk forward. Again, possibly cause an accident. It constantly slows down because it "detects item" when there's absolutely nothing in the road. It will slow down at any time on the highway. I've received 2 master warnings alerts that the dealership said, weren't registered in the vehicles data base. The master alert is loud and fills up my dashboard so, it happened. It happens all the time.
Car battery consistently dies even when vehicle has not been in operation for one full day. I have a dash cam that is in operation all the time and disconnected it thinking it was the problem. However the problem still persists. Today is the 10th time the car battery has died in 3 months. This time I had the key in the slot turned one notch (car engine not turned on) and was playing music via bluetooth, when screen flickered and everything went out. Dealership says there is no issue with battery and refuses to change it.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v682000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure was mileage was 9,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
There has been several misfires when starting the car, and the car sometimes goes into like an idle mode. The dashboard states 27 mpg, but I've been tracking mileage on a paper log, and the vehicle is really only receiving approximately 19 mpg. I looked to it to see what it could be, and after looking up active recalls, realized that it was symptoms of the fuel pump malfunctioning. I took it to scott clark Toyota; a manufacturer's dealer, and they refuse to remedy the situation.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the vehicle sputtered then regained power. The contact pulled over as a precaution and waited and then restarted the vehicle and drove to his destination. The vehicle was taken to the dealer crystal Toyota (220 us-22, green brook, NJ 08812 (732) 968-1000). The dealer stated that they would look at the vehicle however, the contact waited for over 3 hours. The contact saw that the vehicle was not being serviced and retrieved the vehicle and left the dealer. The contact saw on the internet and suspected that there was a recall for the fuel pump however, he was unable to check the VIN. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 30,000. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly; 3 - VIN corrected, error in one position (assuming check digit is correct); 14 - unable to provide information for all the characters in the VIN. #vpic#.
Several complaints all reported to the dealer during regular service intervals. 1. Started the day I drove it new off the lot - clock radio was gaining 1 minute every week, dealer flashed system several times on multiple service appointments best it has gotten down to is gaining 1 minute a month. 2. On several occasions I would park the car for the evening 1-2 hours later someone would walk past the car notice a humming from the rear of the car, I'd go check sounded like the fuel pump running, insert key turn on ignition (not start car) turn key off noise was gone. Reported to dealer nothing found could not be duplicated. 3. Started around 25k miles - car is very sluggish, and jerky on slow gradual acceleration feels like a bad plug or fuel delivery problem, can be driving down flat straight interstate highway car will hiccup spit and sputter for a second or two then resumes speed. Reported to dealer during routine service computer didn't throw a code so nothing could be done observed 0. 1 mpg decrease in fuel mileage. 4. 28k-30k miles started car for work idled and shook horribly for 20-30 seconds just as I reached for the key to shut it off and drive my spare car it smoothed out and ran fine. Felt like a dead cylinder suspect a bad plug or coil pack once again reported to the dealer nothing found. 5. Car now at 38k miles fuel mileage has gradually decreased from max of 37 mpg when new now down to 35. 8 mpg without any change in driving habits or route. Since warranty is expired I will change spark plugs myself to see if the sluggishness subsides and mileage returns to what I considered normal for the car.
Hesitation and major jerk when accelerating at low mph from a rolling stop. TSB #t-sb-0152-19_rev should be applied to practically every Camry from 2018 & 2019. Unfortunately I can not have this done to my car because my VIN is not supported in this bulletin, I have no idea why it wouldn't be but it definitely should be because this is a major problem with my car every single day. It's getting extremely frustrating and it feels like my engine/transmission are going to fail soon and my car only has 34000 miles on it. Totally unacceptable. I have never experienced this in any other car that I have owned. Please apply this bulletin to more Camry vins!.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while attempting to overtake another vehicle with the accelerator pedal depressed, the rpm revved up however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. On another occasion while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle decelerated with the accelerator pedal depressed. The contact stated that the failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to Toyota of rockwall located at 1250 e interstate 30, rockwall, TX 75087, (469) 331-8372, however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure by mail. The failure mileage was 6,900.
For got check off the last two questions at the end of questionnaire. I would not like my information shared and a so not receive emails about recall alerts.
I purchased a brand new 2018 Toyota Camry le with nothing but problems from the beginning. The brakes have been bad from day 1. The make noise when braking and they supposedly fixed it. I was driving on the freeway down a hill and when I went to press on the brakes they did not do anything and I had the pedal all the way down. I had to pump the brakes putting me and my passengers in danger. The engine hesitates when accelerating. I took it in twice already and they don't know what the issue is. Once it finally decides to go it accelerates excessively putting the driver in danger. This has been going in for years.
I bought a new Toyota Camry 2018 le nearly 2 years ago. I bought a new car for work although since my son gave me his car I started using his and left mine to use for the gym. As now I am using my 2018 Camry now more frequently I have started to notice when I apply acceleration hard from stop there is a delay before car picks up speed. Also when I am in motion and accelerate I believe the Camry is deciding between gears and jerks when it selects the gear it wants.
I just bought my car and the transmission jerks and is really bad. Dealer said he's aware buy Toyota isnt doing anything about it and it passes the software tests. I read online and there's hundreds of people complaining of the same issue. My car is a week old. . . I really hope you can investigate this and make. Toyota fix their transmissions. The issue happens when first starting; when driving on the highway and really any time I press the gas.
If you slow to a roll then try to accelerate, it jerks real bad like it does not know what gear to go into. Tapping from the engine bay that comes and goes. The brake assist feature cause my rotors to get warped right after replacing them. Lane keeping assist will yank you over into a turning lane if you aren't super careful.
When I first bought my car in August 2018 when I first drove it. . . The acceleration was on point. Now it seems like when I go to take off to accelerate it feels sluggish as if it's doing the way it originally did.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. While driving 80 mph at night, the vehicle suddenly decelerated to 50 mph. The failure occurred twice and nearly caused a crash the second time. The contact believed the forward collision avoidance feature suddenly activated. The manufacturer took the black box information after the vehicle was taken to green's Toyota of lexington (630 e new circle rd, lexington, ky 40505, (859) 254-5751). In addition, the brake rotors failed and the transmission suddenly downshifted while driving 35 mph. The contact felt the manufacturer was not going to assist. The manufacturer was still researching the information obtained from the vehicle's black box. The vehicle was purchased brand new and had been to the dealer between 10 to 15 times. The failure mileage was 20,000.
Vehicle is shuttering at stop signs and has a major lag in acceleration which has lead to some close calls merging onto the freeway and pulling into traffic.
2018 Camry se, slow to take off when stepping on gas after a stop or slow down mostly noticeable on city streets. Very hesitant & gas must be pumped in order for transmission to catch up. Almost involved in accident when coming off exit ramp & onto highway. Car wouldn't accelerate & other drivers were at speed limit behind me. Gears shift almost like a manual transmission. Gas pedal can be difficult to push at times as well.
Tl-the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that after attempting to pull into a parking space the vehicle suddenly accelerated back into the street and up a hill until it came to a stop. The vehicle was able to be restarted and driven home. The vehicle was taken to a dealer steven Toyota 2970 s main st, harrisonburg, va 22801 (540) 434-1400. They had the vehicle for over a week but found nothing wrong with it and released it to the contact. A week later the contact parked in front of a house and it accelerated on it's own again and crashed into the house at 60 mph. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they referred the contact to call back the manufacturer. This time contact did not want the vehicle and wanted the manufacturer to buy it back. The contact was assigned to two case manager's to find a solution for the issue . The contact did not want the vehicle whether if was repaired or not. The failure mileage was 13,000. Tf.
Car engine knocks after warming up. Knocks goes away and comes back. Loss of power and noisy driving. Occasionally engine shakes at startup. My wife drives this car all the times and she complaint me several times in her words that car is not smooth and I keep ignoring. I have started driving this car after her complaint to make sure nothing is wrong or car is safe. I have recorded several videos of engine knocking having car parked in my garage. Secondly gear shifting is very abnormal. Sometimes shifts down for no reason and sometimes takes longer to shift down while passing and stays in lower gear for long time about 5-7 seconds even upshifted using lever on steering wheel. I could not record abnormal shifting operation due to safety reason during driving. I am just not sure how long this has been going on but I noticed this week ago after my wife complaint.
Defective transmission: 1: car hesitates to speed up from a full stop or while in motion. 2: rpm's go over 3000 before car reacts (2-3 seconds delay) , dangerous specially when taking curves or merging into traffic (highways, fast traffic roads). 3: I feel a "hiccup" like movement while in motion (sometimes). 4: car hesitates to shift or shifts whit excessive power. 5: downshifts and loss of acceleration (it happens erratically dealer have replaced the vehicle transmission, but the problem persist, now they are going to replace the vehicle computer and if the problem persist they will replace the transmission again. It seems like they don"t know what the problem really is. Until now this are the symptoms I'm experiencing with my 2018 Camry 4-cyl, certainly something I wasn't expecting from a Toyota product. The unpredictable behavior of this car is dangerous, I never know when is going to response as it should do or when I'll have to floor it so it can rev up and finally move.
I just bought a Camry se 2018 and everytime from takeoff to a stop pedals or transmission feel rougt is like the car dont move if you gonna take off I need to press the pedal so hard to get the car move to pass the others cars the same thing I dont feel safe in this car I have a 2017 elantra at that Hyundai handle better than the Camry so aceleration is rought I just have two days driving and I know thats cant be like that. So that happen when the vehicule is in motion after stop when pressing the gas pedal after stop when going to drive again hard aceleration and car wasting to much gas Camry has 43k I bought it use and that happen the first day I bought I was thinking maybe is me cause I have a Hyundai but I drove before a 2014 Camry and is not like that.

Until now this are the symptoms I'm experiencing with my 2018 Camry 4-cyl, certainly something I wasn't expecting from a Toyota product. My 2018 Toyota Camry skips constantly when driving. It does not happen at a certain speed, I may be just taking off or been at a constant speed for a while and it skips multiple times. I have reported this to the Toyota service department when I take my car in for service, they said they would make a note of the concern. This is very frustrating to deal with on a car that has low miles and is only 2 years old.
When accelerating from dead stop in a right hand turn up-hill car is slow to move forward requiring more pressure on gas pedal, then transmission seems to be hunting for right gear causing a jerky motion.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. While the contact's daughter was pulling out of the garage, the vehicle lost power and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to Toyota of santa cruz (4200 auto plaza dr, capitola, CA 95010, (831) 462-4200) where it was diagnosed that the soybean wires were damaged by rodents. The vehicle was not repaired. The insurance company was scheduled to assess the damage. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 5,000. The VIN was not available.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. While parallel parking, the rpms increased to 6,000 and the engine revved as if it wanted to accelerate. The contact quickly depressed the brake pedal, shifted into park, and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the same failure occurred on four different occasions. The vehicle was taken to ed morse delray Toyota (located at 2800 s federal hwy, delray beach, FL 33483, (888) 469-2898) where no failure was found. The dealer accused the contact of depressing both the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. The manufacturer provided case number: 1811150364. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
Hi I recently purchased a 2018 Toyota Camry in September with 7,000 miles on it and now it has almost 8,000 miles on it. After 1 week of purchase I am having some problems especially with the engine and transmission. Engine because I am feeling a lose of power when accelerating and not smooth when driving also it is noisy when you start the car. Also when at a full stop I can feel the vehicle shake and when you put your foot on the gas pedal and drive at 20 mph you can feel the pedal shake. Transmission because I can feel the transmission jerking and when you put it on drive it doesn't feel like you are on drive it feels like you are on neutral driving because of how rough it is when you accelerate. I also went to the dealer for this matter but they couldn't do anything. Please help me because I am very frustrated with Toyota because many of my family members have Toyotas and they never had this issue. The car is good but the lack of performance has disappointed me because Toyotas have a great reputation and now they are just giving that all up just to save money on fixing this issue that's what I feel that they are doing. Thats why I am disappointed with Toyota and there engineering because I feel that they put in too much for the redesigned part but not the performance part.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that rodents entered the engine compartment and ate the electrical wiring. The wiring attracted rodents and other animals. The contact had the vehicle previously repaired for the same failure, but rodents ate the wiring again. The vehicle was taken to Toyota of ridgecrest (321 n china lake blvd, ridgecrest, CA 93555, (760) 375-4401) where it was diagnosed that there was rodent damage. The dealer stated that the failure was not their responsibility. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 6,700.
After taking delivery of the vehicle I noticed that the vehicle accelerates very poor and when the vehicle was set on cruise control it would drop speed for no reason.
This vehicle has a major delay/hesitation when hitting the gas to accelerate. When I am attempting to accelerate or pass another vehicle, it takes 3-5 seconds before the engine reacts. It is dangerous when attempting to pass another vehicle in multiple lane traffic - the chances of being rear ended because of the hesitation are high. I have addressed this issue with a dealer and they continue to tell me that the vehicle doesn't have the issue that I am experiencing - it most certainly does! I am fed up with the lack of action to remedy this dangerous flaw.
