1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2026

Component/system: Smart key system / automatic door locking system I own a 2023 Toyota Camry le equipped with a Smart key system. I parked the vehicle, turned off the engine, and left the Smart key inside the vehicle. My [xxx] child remained securely strapped into a rear child safety seat and was sleeping inside. I briefly stepped outside to wipe dust from the windshield while standing next to the vehicle. After the driver’s door closed, the vehicle automatically locked itself with the Smart key still inside. I did not intentionally lock the vehicle. I was unable to unlock the doors because the Smart key was locked inside the vehicle. My [xxx] child was trapped inside the locked vehicle, creating an emergency situation. To rescue my child, I had no choice but to break the driver’s side window. There were no warning lights or warning messages before the incident. The cause is unknown. The vehicle has not yet been inspected to determine why it automatically locked with the Smart key inside. Based on the circumstances, the Smart key system either failed to detect the Smart key or the vehicle improperly allowed the doors to lock despite the key remaining inside. I believe this presents a serious safety risk because it can trap children inside the vehicle. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Electrical System problem

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2026

I am filing a complaint regarding my 2023 Toyota Camry with 23,375 miles. The vehicle has been diagnosed with an infotainment system failure that presents identical symptoms to an active recall affecting similar vehicles. Toyota has confirmed my VIN is not included in the recall campaign, despite the failure matching the recall description. The dealership has documented the defect, and Toyota approved only 50% goodwill assistance. The system malfunction affects core vehicle functions controlled through the infotainment interface, creating driver distraction and potential safety concerns. I am concerned that vehicles outside the current VIN range are experiencing the same defect and that the recall population may be too narrowly defined. I am requesting review of this issue to determine whether additional vehicles, including mine, should be included in the recall. I have attached the diagnostic invoice for the dealership to confirm no updates or repairs could be performed and a new infotainment system would be required at an out of pocket cost of 50% of $2277. 87.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2025

The infotainment screen will randomly turn off while driving. The entire screen goes completely black and sometimes stays that way for several minutes. Up to 13 minutes with no way to display gps information.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2025

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that after a routine oil service, while driving at various speeds with the cruise control activated, the safety feature on the front camera failed to display or provide a clear warning as intended. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the front camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2024

I came out to my vehicle and attempted to start it as usual and the epb would not disengage and I had to have it towed to the dealer. They had to manually disengage it and told me I needed a new switch. I purchased the switch and that did not fix the problem, all of my warning lights have been on the vehicle ever since due to error code "park brake malfunction" I cannot use my parking brake and all of my other adas safety features are disabled as a result of this, abs light, pcs, including cruise control, lane departure, etc are all disabled due to this epb malfunction.
