36 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/09/2019

I just got the car about a month and a 1/2 ago everything seemed fine until 2 weeks later after I purchased the vehicle I notice some lagging and hard jerking in the transmission when I barely push the accelerator I notice from 1st to 2nd gear it had a hard time wanting to know when to shift and when to wanna go smooth then a week and a 1/2 later the lane departure light turns on and the crash control I turned them off but it still turned on even know I went into the vehicle settings to turn them off a week following the lights started coming on more progressive except this time it deactivates all the cameras front and back I went 3 times and the main mechanic said not exaggerating like a phone it needs to learn how to work itself over time it will get better the only way we can fix it is when you brake down and get towed* all know is, is that the vehicle doesn't seem to know when to want to shift correctly there is a lag when pushing the pedal, when yielding and go it jerks hard when slowing down I feel it downshifting hard eith little thuds and my sensor lights come on and deactivate my cameras.

37 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Car stalls sometimes but hesitate every time I drive on streets with low speed limit. While accelerating from a stop sign or slow traffic flow, car hesitates for 2-3 seconds and then its fine. But this happens every time. On highway speed, it doesn't hesitate or stall unless I come to a stop and then try to accelerate.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry

Dashboard warning brakes flashes appears. Freeway and city 5x happen no car behind or front of the vehicle stop in the middle of freeway . . .

39 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/14/2019

While driving on a street at approximately 25mph, I approached an intersection with a stop sign. I applied the brakes and lost power steering electric boost, abs system, stability control, and speedometer. I was driving in a straight line leading up to the intersection. There was no warning leading up to this loss of function. All systems remain non-functioning. Warning lights for steering, brakes, abs, traction control, and check engine light are illuminated. The dealer states that the abs actuator is faulty. The repair part not immediately available. The Toyota rep stated that there was no additional warranty at this time. The repair will be $3000. There are other reports of similar issues. This could be an unrecognized systemic safety hazard. My vehicle has not experienced slowdowns as others have reported when experiencing similar system failures. Uncommanded slowdowns in the heavy traffic in this region could result in a fatal accident. Request NHTSA immediately look into this issue as there are other reports of this issue. The dealer indicated that the abs parts are on back order which leads to the inference that abs actuators are being replaced while no NHTSA reports are being filed systems impacted includes, brakes, steering, speed control, stability control. Systems are basic safety systems.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/30/2019

I was driving the vehicle in cruise mode and suddenly warning and pre-collision system dashboard light came on together, and a message pops-up in the screen showing the cruise control is unavailable. The adaptive cruise control gets disabled and the car start dropping the speed unless controlled manually. After driving for a few miles the lights automatically go back to normal. Have taken the car to the dealership and they told me they have calibrated some sensors but I am still having the same problem.

41 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/19/2018

I contacted Toyota regarding a previous NHTSA case involving the vehicle line just prior to mine (2010). For that line, Toyota issued an extended warranty to repair the vehicles. However, they are refusing to cover my vehicle for the exact same issue. I am attaching my letter to Toyota. My inquiry to them is 190105-000120 and case# 1901100828 (with hq). The attached letter documents my case. I thought the dealer's brake work had caused the problem, but it seems that it's just a faulty module in the vehicle. Now, it is disabled, rendering my vehicle unsafe to drive in hazardous conditions. The cost amounts to almost the value of my vehicle. Since my vehicle has been dealer-maintained, it's immaculate and I had not intended to trade it in. I had actually considered purchasing a new Camry until this situation came up. I have lost all faith in Toyota for their refusal to assist. I hope that by notifying NHTSA and making others aware, this will be brought to light and addressed. Since it's not something that you would know about until you encounter the problem, there are no telling how many others are driving vehicles that are affected, including my 25-year old son who drives a 2011 le model (VIN 4t1bf3ek6bu230944). I do pray that our model year can be added to the incident for extended warranty and repair. Thank you for your assistance.

42 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/14/2018

The rear wheels/brakes on my 2011 Toyota Camry locked up and caused me to loose control of the car. I crashed into a tree. The following a detailed description of the event. I exited my community, by making a left turn on a county road. The weather was cloudy, and the road was damp dur to recent rain. I was accelerating to 40 mph, which is the speed limit on a county road (a total of 2 lanes), until I noticed that I was about to exceed 40 mph. When I removed my foot from the gas pedal, the back of the car started to loose traction. I started to apply very light pressure to the brakes to correct the direction of the car. I looked where I wanted to go and made small adjustments to the steering wheel, until the car would stop drifting from lane to lane. The small adjustments did not help, and I lost complete control of the car. The rear end of the car went to the left side of the road. I tried to correct the direction to ensure I stayed in my lane. The rear end of the car started sliding to the right side within my lane and continued to slide/drift. As the car continued sliding the right, it went outside my lane, hit the dirt "shoulder", and hit a ditch covered with rocks, which caused the car to swing to the left. When the car hit the rocks, I felt my body lifted from my sit, but the seat belt held it back. I noticed that the rpms of the car went up from 1,500 rpm to (about) 6,000 rpm. I was also able to regain some control of the car, which was completely off the road at this point in the event. The car was headed towards a small ravine located behind three trees. I steered the car to hit the tree instead of running into a small ravine.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

I was accelerating to 40 mph, until I noticed that I was about to exceed 40 mph. I removed my foot from the gas pedal and then, back of the car started to lose traction. I looked where I wanted to go and made small adjustments to the steering wheel, until the car would stop drifting from lane to lane. The small adjustments did not help, and I lost complete control of the car. The car went to the left side of the road, then the right, then back to the left. As soon as the car went back to the left, it hit a ditch covered with rocks that swung the car to the right. I noticed that the rpms of the car went up from 1,500 rpm to (about) 6,000 rpm and I was also able to regain some control of the car. I was able to steer slightly, but not enough for me to straighten up the car. As the car was about to go off the road, I was able to steer it into a tree, rather than the small ravine in font of it and risk my life.

44 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/14/2018

Abs/esp system failure & random engine revving before wreck the rear wheels/brakes on my 2011 Toyota Camry locked up and caused me to lose control of the car and crash into a tree. I was accelerating to 40 mph, until I noticed that I was about to exceed 40 mph (by roughly 1 mph). I removed my foot from the gas pedal and then, back of the car started to lose traction. I started to apply very light pressure to the brakes to correct the direction of the car. I looked where I wanted to go and made small adjustments to the steering wheel, until the car would stop drifting from lane to lane. The small adjustments did not help, and I lost complete control of the car. The car went to the left side of the road, then the right, then back to the left. The alabama state trooper who came and tried to assist me was very unfriendly and appeared to have a uncooperative attitude. The adrenaline rush took over me, causing me to jump up and down and make my wallet fall out of my pocket. It fell into a pile of leaves, which were the same color of the wallet (light leather brown). Long story short, the officer gave me a citation for not having my license with me when I was driving, but I did and he refused to take away the citation. The officer also said that he would write me up for reckless driving, which I would not understand why he would do that, if the rear brakes locked up in my car.

45 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/10/2018

The crash detector system stop working for the first 15 minutes of driving it happen multiple times I was driving 40 mile per hour.

46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/29/2018

While the vehicle is in motion traveling straight on a highway, warning bell sounds and three warning lights are illuminated simultaneously and constantly: brake, abs and stability control system. The center error message panel of the dashboard cycles through the three messages, as shown in the accompanying photos. While these messages are displayed, every few miles there is an apparent loss of power, slowing the vehicle. Pressing the accelerator further does not restore power. Fully releasing the accelerator for a couple of seconds and then pressing the accelerator does restore power. While these messages are displayed, cruise control also does not function. The warning lights remain on until the vehicle is turned off. Upon restarting, the warning lights are no longer illuminated. The photos are from October 29, 2018, but this problem has occurred intermittently and with increasing frequency (now every three days on average) for several weeks. I will be having a dealer investigate. I have seen this problem described for this vehicle make/model/year on other online complaint forums.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/08/2018

3 times the collision prevention stop working while I was driving at the high way. You have to turn the car off and then turn it on to for the collision prevention system to work again. And this is so dangerous. The transmission sometimes glitch and not working properly and shifits like crazy. I feel it sometimes that car sounds not right because it should shift smoothly. Air condition when it on cold the fan can give good air streem which is good but when it on heat the fan is so slow and it doesn't give good air streaming. I was trying to find a way to report this to generate recall but I didn't know how until I found your website.

48 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/23/2018

Abs control module needs replacing. Brake and abs light come on,no a/c and speedometer goes to 0. Brake lights don't work during episodes which could cause you to get rear ended. These episodes occur while idling and driving.

49 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/20/2018

When driving the car, the check vsc system, abs icon and sometimes the battery icon appeared on screen. Shortly after it starts to affect the entire car where it starts losing power in the cabin as well as exterior of the car. The vehicle also experience couple of bad shakes followed by speed decreasing, odometer going haywire where you are speeding or giving gas but the odometer is at 0. Finally the car comes to a stop. It acts totally weird. If you are turn off the car to turn it on again, the car does not turn on. There is no ignition clicking as well. When this occurred the first time, the clicking of starting the engine could be heard. The second time, it was as the car has completely died although battery still has power since the dashboard lights do turn on. Both of the time the accident was avoided. The first time the vehicle was luckily pulled into a side street and not on main road. The second time it was close enough but was able to pull on to the side street and to a parking space. In the first attempt, the battery was jumped and took off the cable in couple of minutes and finding the car dead. This was thought that the battery was bad. Second time, new battery was installed and the similar incident was experienced. When the new battery was installed, the car was 'ok' for couple of days but the battery icon would come and go. When the above issue was experienced again and this time on the new battery, it was jumped and stayed for 5 minutes before driving away. The battery icon still comes and goes and it is not due to the battery being lose. Everything is tightened properly. This was not experienced in the 10 years of owning this car. There are no major accidents on the cars. There was nothing minor or major happened to the car prior to the incidents.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/23/2018

Just purchase a 2007 Toyota Camry le from sterling mccall Toyota a few months ago and now just finding out that the car has a oil consumption issue with no indication that the engine had ever had and problems now it's a the engine has possibly blown out or locked because of this issue it will not start. I paid for this vehicle in full in cash from the dealer I'm trying to find out how to get my money back for the vehicle sale price and the other minor repairs that I made to this vehicle. 53 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 02/07/2018

Toyota Camry abs actuator/ecm failure. I have a 2009 Camry that has been well maintained and had no known issues until last wed 2/7/18 when driving home from work all of sudden both the speedometer and tachometer went haywire and started jumping up and down from 0 to the max, then both the brake light and the abs lights came on and the temp gauge dropped to zero. I thought that the car was about to shut off but that didn't happen. My car was still driving, but none of the gauges registered that the car was in motion and the brake and abs lights remained on. Today is exactly a week from that initial warning and I am still having the same issue once the car has been in drive mode for more than 20 mins. I took the car to my local Toyota dealer who has maintained the car since my purchase for diagnosis on 2/8/18 and was told at the time that the issue is the bad abs actuator and ecm and that both pieces are a part of the car's computer that sends the signal for the brakes to stop. I was also told at that time that there was a similar issue with the hybrid Camry for the same year, and extended warranty was placed for the hybrid but not for my Camry le. I was shocked because this is a road hazard and a issue with faulty parts installed in the first place. Now Toyota is saying the repair is $2500. This should be included along with the hybrid under an extended warranty. I have found on internet searches that Toyota has been aware of the issue since at 2010 but they have refused to offer repairs. This is definitely a safety hazard whereas the driver is never certain that the brakes will work or fail. I say that maybe this car should be under a full recall because I was also told that my engine is burning excessive oil, they tested it mid year 2017 and I was just told that my car failed the test and needs to have the repair done on that as well as the abs actuator.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/03/2018

Bad quality of the vehicle.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/26/2017

On numerous occasions when coming to a stop by car will shut off. The car when sitting has a rough idle (400-500 rpm) with all heat/ac etc turned off but can vary at times of an idle of 700-900rpm notably when a/c is on it drags the rpms down to 300-400 and will shudder at a stop. There's no codes on diagnostics, no noises or lack of routine maintenance. May be worth mentioning this vehicle "passed' the excessive oil consumption but I am still adding a qt of oil every 1200-1800 miles. A search of the web shows this to be a common issue but no resolution. Help?.

56 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry

59 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

My 2007 Toyota Camry lr abs system is not working, I read numerous complaints (over 197 complaints with this problem on 2007 Camry le's) to your site with same problem: warning lights , speedometer needle at "0", etc. Cost to replace abs system over $2,500. Someone said the abs was only to prevent skids and even though speedometer is not showing speed, that no other problem such as sudden stop, or brake failure, etc would happen, complaints on your site show that other problems, can result, what can we do? my car mileage is 79,899. This is a continuing problem started approx. August 2017 - -.

60 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/14/2017

Mice, jumping out of everywhere while I'm driving!!! my insurance paid out over $4000. 00 and I paid $500 deductible plus $300 to have metal screens put in. I had to replace heater core, air conditioning core, heater fan, duct work, where the mice had built a nest. When the heater fan came on it was like putting the mice through a blender. Mouse part everywhere!! soy used in wiring is to blame. Shame on the us government and Toyota for dumping this car on a unsuspecting public. You buy a brand new car then find out you bought a buffet for rodents! d. H. Olds - hollis, maine USA.

61 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/21/2017

Had to replace my O2 sensor at my own cost of $430 due to a rodent chewing it. My engine light came in and this was why I got it checked. The mechanic at the dealer said rodents love the insulation on the wiring in these cars. I feel that soy based wiring is why this happened and was not my fault and should be covered by Toyota. My car is parked where 3 other older vehicles also park and they did not have an issue. Only my car was affected. This is a manufacturing issue that should be corrected by the manufacturer at their expense.

62 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/16/2017

The air bag , horn , power steering all located on the steering wheel do not work. Car is one owner and has not been involved in accident. I was told by Toyota dealership clock spring was bad. Clock spring on prior year was on recall. However recall had not been to this vehicle. I need horn and air bag.

65 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/24/2017

I have a 2007 Camry with 125,000 miles. It is impeccably cared for, it has new front and back brakes, new rotors, new battery and new tires. The problem started several weeks ago in April 2017. While driving modest speeds on regular roads, the break and abs warming lights come on, and the speedometer stops working and goes to 0, even though the car is moving. This keeps happening intermittently with no relation to speed or road conditions. Also, I live in sunny California, and never in my life have had to use the abs system for any breaking. I was told by my mechanic this is an abs brake control module problem, which will cost about $2500 to fix. This is outrageous!!! I am retired and cannot afford this kind of expense!!! I have been driving Toyotas for over 40 years and I never had this problem or even heard of this problem before. My prior Camry lasted for 14 years and 200,000 miles and never had this problem. Toyota truly needs to fix the problem or at least tell all future Camry buyers to be prepared for a $2500 - $5000 expense in the future. If I had known about this when I bought the car I would never have bought it!!.

69 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 03/07/2017

My abs light and brake light simultaneously came on when I was at a stoplight one day at the same time my air conditioner only blows out hot air and I was told that this is a safety issue because if you step on your brakes too fast or anything like that the car can skid or lose traction or ever the case may be to me this is a manufactured default and should be recalled for warranty to be replaced since most of these issues are causing people 2500 plus which is way more than the value of the car on top of the burden it cost to get it fixed it's very dangerous and there are plenty of other people that I have complained online and spoke with that their abs modules have also went out on this year car as well as melting dashboard defaulted power windows oil consumption which I need to go check mine to see if that is also happening on this model 07 very unethical very dangerous!!! I mean come on if it's a warranty issue it would be something that we would have to maintain on a regular basis and order for it not to be broken but obviously this is not something that you can maintenance like your oil or your tires this needs to be recalled this is my formal complaint thank you.

70 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 03/04/2017

In July 2016 I began to notice my car was struggling to maintain it's power. When I drove the car and stepped on the gas in wasn't getting much power. When in traffic or stopped at a traffic light it would stall when trying to drive off and then the check engine light would come on. I brought my car to Toyota service center and they worked on my car for several days. They were able to get the check engine light of and remedy the problem but could not determine the cause. In December 2016 I started to experience the same problem. I was losing power and the car would stall when at a complete stop, it was right after the check engine light came on. I brought my car back to Toyota for servicing and they had a difficult time determining the cause but came to a conclusion that it was a sensor code. I followed their advice for servicing and paid for the the sensor code to be replaced. Now we're here in March 2017 and I'm having the same problem. The same pattern where the car struggles to gain power and when I drive to to stop in traffic the car begins to stall. It is right after the check engine light comes on. I returned to Toyota for the problem but hey could not diagnose the problem. My car is being returned without a cause.
