The contact owns a 2002 Toyota Camry solara. On April 14, 2008, the front driver side seat adjuster failed to function properly. Both the dealer and manufacturer informed the contact that her warranty does not cover that type of failure. She currently has to use pillows to reach both the accelerator and brake pedals. The failure mileage was 91,000 and current mileage was 91,010. Updated 05/13/08.

Recently we were hit by a pickup truck while stopped on the interstate. We were stopped due to another accident ahead. Both driver and passenger seats broke at the tilt point and collapsed backward onto the rear seat, narrowly missing our 31 month old child and his car seat. The driver seat did make contact with the car seat, but was deflected due to the strength of the car seat. I find it hard to believe that the seats are designed to collapse. Why did our seats fail?.

Consumer owns a 2002 Toyota Camry. The seat track wore out. She felt that this may cause an accident because it allowed the seat to move freely. The dealer told her the seat repair would cost $350 for labor and the part was $1304. She called the manufacturer, and the manufacturer left her a message saying that they would make her a one time offer of reimbursing $1000.
Drivrers seat is loose. It was repaired once at 12000 miles, and at 26000 miles, the problem resurfaced. The manufacturer refuses to repair the seat again. Every time I start and stop the seat moves. The problem gets progressively worse as time goes by.

The seat recliner broke, and could not be raise up so that consumer could operate the vehicle. Dealer was notified, and will do repairs at consumer's expense.
Consumer noticed while making a turn passenger's seat began to rock. Problem was due to a broken frame bolt.
While driving at any speed front driver's seat would rock back and forth. The dealer stated that there was no warranty, nothing we could do. The seat was repaired but then six weeks later the problem recurred. Toyota suggested that nothing was wrong with the vehicle.
Hit from rear at about 45 miles at a stop light. Both bucket front seats laid back on rear seat at impact. Iis this is a defect in seat construction as I am thinking of buying same auto. We did not have injuries.

Driver's side seat jiggles and moves 1 to 1 1/2 inches forward when stopping. Then, goes back into place when the vehicle stops. Consumer is afraid that the seat may come detached from its linkage. Dealership test drove the vehicle, and indicated that it was fine, and the seat was suppose to do this. New rails were installed by the dealer but the problem recurred.
On 11/26/2002. I was rear-end while stoping to make a left turn. The car hit me from the rear, which caued the drivers seat to break on impact. I was at a stand still! the drivers seat should not broke and fell back which caused lower back injury.
Upon applying the brakes at almost any speed, the driver's seat slides forward as if it is not locked into place. This has happened on numerous occasions, although the seat had been locked into position. After an occurence, I have tried to see if the seat was locked by scooting forward manually (without use of the lever). It does not slide after doing this, giving me the impression that it is locked. The seatback of this same seat does not stay locked well either. Sometimes, just getting in the vehicle and leaning on the seat, causes it (seatback) to slip out of position (backwards).
During a car crash driver's seat fully reclined, and was unable to pull back into the right position.

Vehicle was at a stand still at a red light and vehicle was rear ended, impact speed 40-45 mph. Both, driver's and passenger's side seats collapsed in the reclining position, vehicle was forced into another vehicle. Vehicle was a total loss. The air bag did not deploy during the accident.
Front seat padding on the back rest is matted down, resulting in backside gets into bottom closure of seat, which irritates while driving.
While at a stop, another vehicle rear ended the Camry going about 30 mph, and driver's seatback broke and flew backwards which may have caused injuries. Please provide further information and VIN#.
I was stopped waiting for a vehicle in front of me to make a left turn. I was hit in the rear by a 1996 Nissan maxima traveling in excess of 40 mph. The impact pushed my Camry into the rear of a 1989 Ford in front of me. My Camry made contact with the Ford on my driver's side front directly near the airbag sensor in my front left bumper area. Upon impact by the Nissan in my rear, my driver's seat collapsed backward, causing me to slide forward underneath the dashboard and steering wheel. The seatbelt failed to properly tense up, causing me to injure my right knee and my abdomen. I was the only driver injured in this 3-car accident, but the extent of my injuries has not yet been determined. Both the airbags in the 1996 Nissan deployed properly, as well as the airbag in the 1989 Ford, even though it was only hit from the rear by my Camry. Toyota USA has been notified of the incident, and has assured me they will inspect my vehicle this week. Obviously, I believe strongly that the airbags should have deployed, and the seat should not have collapsed backward.
Consumer was rearended by a vehicle going at approximately 70 mph ,driver seatback track broke, causing her to move forward, which could have resulted in injuries.
Driver's seat track locking mechanism disengaged spontaneously while driving under normal operating conditions, allowing driver's seat to slide forward/backward. Driver made sudden stop, seat slid forward, lap belt squeezed driver's belly, rupturied amniotic sack. Dealer has no part to correct problem. Reported by lawyer.
Driver's seatback rocks back and forth and makes noise when turning.
