5 Headlight Switch problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

The low beam headlights have a near 0% effectiveness. I leave the headlight switch in the "always on" position, but at night I often have to switch the headlights off and then back on to verify they are on. When they are on at night, the headlights are at near 0% effectiveness.

6 Headlight Switch problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/06/2014

I own a 2008 Toyota solara convertible sport v6. Upon driving on the freeway I noticed the low beam headlight (l) went out and had to flip the headlights off and on to turn it on. After a few miles the (r) low beam headlight went off and had to flip the headlights off and on again to turn it on. I noticed after seeing the reflection off another vehicle that they were both off and had to switch the headlights off and on once again. I'm not sure when exactly this started but if I had not looked into the reflection of the car ahead of me I would have been driving on the freeway with the lights off. This is a real safety hazard. I own a 2001 Toyota solara se v6 (12 yrs) never had a low beam headlight issue and that car has over 273000 miles on it. This should be Toyota's responsibility for replacing the faulty headlight equipment and not the owner.

7 Headlight Switch problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/18/2014

Headlights went out while traveling at night at highway speed. Lights alternately flickered on and off while switching between auto mode and on mode of headlight switch. One headlight finally went out again completely and both acting sporadically. Vehicle is the sport model with the hid headlight system.

8 Headlight Switch problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

Parked car in driveway two hours later my neighbor told me my lights were on. Light switch was off could not get lights to go off. Called tow truck they could not get lights to turn off, so they pulled the fuses for the lights. Three hours later the horn started blowing,,had to disconnect to get it to stop. Took into Toyota dealer where I bought it, a year ago. They said they thought it was a after market alarm system that was installed previously to my ownership. They disconnected it, three weeks later same thing started happening, except this time the high beam headlights would not turn off. Take it back to Toyota and now they say it is an internal electrical problem that may cause other problems if not fixed. Around $825.

9 Headlight Switch problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 03/01/2012

Driver side low beam (hid) headlight turns off by itself in manual and auto modes. Turning the light switch off and back on brings the headlight back on but only for a short period, then it goes out again. The problem was intermittent at first but is becoming more frequent and at times both headlights will flicker intermittently.

10 Headlight Switch problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 09/28/2011

High beam headlights came on and would not turn off. Fuses had to be pulled due to the battery being drained. Online research shows there is an apparent problem with the headlight relay or switch but there is no information online where they are located. Also there is a severe knocking noise in the front end. The rack and pinion had to be changed as well as the struts and the car doesn't even have 50k miles on it. Toyota is junk!.

11 Headlight Switch problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

I was notified my right front headlight was out early in July, 2011. I took it to be repaired and was informed that a "module" needed to be replaced because these were 'high intensity" lights. On July 12,2011 the module was ordered by my mechanic and installed on July 13, 2012. In Feb, 2012 my left front headlight went out. My mechanic ordered a new module on Feb 15, 2012 and was installed on March 1, 2012. In June, 2012 I was stopped by police for having only one headlight. At that time my left headlight was out again (only 3 months later). Within the next few days I noticed that intermittently my headlights would turn off while driving, sometimes the right, sometimes the left, and sometime both at the same time. If I switched from auto to on, both headlights would turn back on for about 5 mins then either one or both would shut off. If I switched from on to auto, the same would happen for a couple minutes. I returned to my mechanic, but upon driving and keeping the lights on he could not get the same thing to happen. That was on July 20, 2012. Since that time, I have had to refrain from using my car after dark, because for no apparent reason, the lights willl shut off. There are times I have all lights and then another driver will inform me that I have no headlightsat all. I am aware that the Toyota prius had an issue with this happening and am concerned that this is a problem with this car as well. These lights and modules are expensive to replace and having to replace them every 6 months or on a car that is less than 5 years old seems ridiculous while after replacing, the problem continues. The lack of headlights and not knowing when they go out is extremely dangerous and puts me and my family at risk for injury as well as others. I would like to know if this is a general problem with Toyota cars with these type of lights or an isolated case.

12 Headlight Switch problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/14/2010

I was driving in city in the evening and noticed that the street appeared to darken. The passenger in my car told me to pull over so we could check the headlight. The driver headlights out. I went to the Toyota dealership. They told me it might be the bulb but couldn't guarantee it. I could try it out for 160. 00. And if it didn't fix the problem to come back and they'd check electrical. I was not foolish enough to do that. I tried the lights again for the next year and now both lights go on and off at will. At times I have had both go off. If I turn the headlight switch off and then back on again they lights return on sometimes. Other times I change the setting and use the other setting to get both lights. I've been stopped by the local police for headlight out. I will be furious if I get a ticket or have to pay 2 k to get this fixed when it's a defect from the factory. Toyota owns this!.

13 Headlight Switch problem of the 2001 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/19/2008

The whole instrument panels lights and stereo begin flickering on and off and cuts out the stereo like turning it on and off when this happens. There seems to be no reason or rhyme as to when or why it happens. It has happened numerous times and occasionally smell a burning smell which seems to go away if I turn everything but the motor off. I am also experiencing the headlight lenses are fogged and have poor visibility. When I mentioned the problem to the dealer they said they would just switch it out with another vehicles headlight. They claim to have done this but it looks exactly the same to me.

14 Headlight Switch problem of the 2006 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/14/2008

My mother has a 2006 Toyota Camry. At night, I noticed her driving without her headlights on. I stopped her, and we got her headlights on. Later, I was driving her Camry at night, and I noticed the instrument lights were on, but the headlights were off. The only setting to get the headlights on turned off the instruments lights. This is a dangerous situation. I went to the huntsville Toyota dealership. A mechanic jiggled the switch, and everything went back to normal. It is obvious the Toyota mechanics know about this problem and know how to fix it. Now, I have to worry everytime I or my mom drive the Camry that we don't jiggle the switch to cause the above problem. It is a major inconvenience and a safety hazard because one day we may forget and accidentally jiggle the switch and drive at night with the instruments light on and the headlights off. The headlight switch must be recalled!!!!.
