1 Trunk Lid Lock problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/11/2014

The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the trunk strut failed to keep the trunk open due to it being fractured. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer who stated that Toyota had chronic failures with the vehicles and that the rod assemblies needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that the fracture was due to the contact's upkeep of the trunk; however, the contact stated that he rarely used the trunk. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000. Updated 5/12/cn.

2 Trunk Lid Lock problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/15/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The vehicle came equipped with a key that will not open the trunk. The trunk can still open with the automatic key pad. The contact feels that if the trunk is locked with a key, it should only be able to open with a key and not the key pad. The dealer offered to unhook the key pad feature, however, no repair was made. The failure mileage was 5 and current mileage was 4,500.

3 Trunk Lid Lock problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/15/2005

The trunk release on this car failed. This is bad enough, but when it fails the emergency trunk release that is located in the trunk no longer functions either. If a child gets trapped in the trunk, they probably won't be able to get out. Since I have small children, I am really concerned. I called a Toyota dealer and was told that the trunk release is repaired fairly often. I was told they have to take the trunk apart to get access to repair the part. I would say this is unacceptable. I am aware of the trunk lock feature that prevents access to the trunk unless you have a key. Regardless of this feature, the trunk should be able to be opened from the inside to prevent possible death to small children. This has not been repaired yet.

4 Trunk Lid Lock problem of the 2000 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/21/2000

On 21 June 2000 my wife and I opened the truck of the car in order to off load a bucket of supplies. She was leaning into the truck when the truck came crashing down on her head. Blood began pour down her face and she almost passed out from the froce of the blow. I took her to the hospital and they closed the cut using 4 staples. I informed the dealership and they didn't seem to care. "saying it is not our problem". My wife suffers from headaches due to that incedent. She will undergo further tests.
