The vsc system lights are going off. The brakes are not working when you turn the car on and then it jolts suddenly. Now a beep is going off every time I start my car.
I had taken my car to a dealership to get my brakes and rotors changed ,around September of 2018, about a week later the traction light would come on whenever I stepped on the brakes . I took the car back to the place where I had gotten the brakes done and they said there was nothing wrong. I finally took my car to another mechanic, so they could diagnose the car , when I got back my car, the vsc, traction ,and brake lights were on. They claimed it was the abs module.
The vehicle was parked in the driveway when the horn sounded, and we noticed flames shooting out of the driver's door panel. When the fire was put out, it was clear it had originated from the driver's door controls, and was localized to that area. The malfunction was related to the visibility: power window devices and controls. This incident is related to a recall. The recall NHTSA campaign id is 12v491000. (10/12).
Takata my 2007 Toyota hybrid has been behaving badly, with just 190k miles. My traction battery monitor would show 7 bars falling to 1 bar instantly. Instantly, as I would be looking at it and it just dropped that fast. It would get parked with a full charge indicated and then the next morning one bar. Sometimes it goes into e mode and shuts off while driving on highway ive been close to crash with other vehicles. The ecm throws a warning, "check hybrid system". I borrowed an actron scanner that had the capability of basic hybrid codes and one code was present "p0a80". Also, check vsc would show all the times. Somewhere I read this is normal with p0a80 as the ecm shuts down the vsc to conserve power. .
Abs and warning signs were on dash. 1st time ever happened. On a busy intersection car was barely stopping. Once realized car was not stopping got off busy intersection and got to safe area. Brakes did not work at all.
Since moving to san antonio, TX 8/30/16 my dashboard has begun melting and has become tacky and shiny. The glare hits my windshield making it unsafe to drive at times. I brought the car in for recall repairs on 10/31/16 and asked if there were any other known issue. I was not made aware of the warranty enhancement until 10/25/17 and was informed I missed the 5/25/17 deadline. The car is not safe to drive and I believe this should be a recall issue and not a warranty issue.
The abs light and check vsc light and brake light went on. When I tried to apply brakes to stop, I realized that the brakes completely failed. The car was skidding and keep going and I pumped the brakes and still the car was moving forward. I came close to hitting another car and luckily stopped couple of inches from the other car. It keeps happening often and I am worried to drive this car as it is. It works fine and suddenly goes to this brake failing mode. Especially happen more often if it rains and making it more dangerous.
I'm responding to the known issue. I have a sticky shiny dashboard that chips very easily. It feels like paint that's not cured.
My car has hit 171073 and is the 2nd time or 3 time that saids "check vsc system"and my stability control is notbworking propertly the dealer said is something normal with this year mkd and model of the car please help.
Brakes went soft, loud squealing noise all lights on dashboard and check vsc system.
When shifted into reverse while car not on or when car on but key not detected or during delay between key detection car will roll backwards but will not allow driver to drive forward.
When I change break pads and rotors the vsc system light is on. . Breaks no engaged.
While driving on a straight road on 3 separate occasions I lost all control of my brakes and my "check vsc light", brake light and abs lights came on. I was not able to stop my car like normal and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. It was very scary while driving.
Toyota failed to replace melting/sticky dashboard after 6 month from the initial inspection. (1) the melting/stickyness of the dashboard releasing toxic fume likely have long term effects on ones health, and (2) the shiny/reflective surface the dashboard creates a safety hazard for drivers.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid shows the "check vsc system" message on the dashboard with the brake, hazard, warning, and abs lights. Upon research it seems like a known Toyota issue with their faulty abs accumulator. The replacement cost is a staggering $2500+ quoted by the dealers. Without replacing it affects the brake systems. There is pulsating in the brakes. There is also water pump leak associated with this. This should be handled by Toyota with a recall. There are lots of reporting for this same issue and fixing this issue is so costly and for a know failed/fauly component.
When I was driving at 65 mph. . The check vsc system warning came on. This happened about 1 month ago. I thought nothing of it because it went off after I started the car again. . . So 3 weeks later it comes on again and goes off. When it cane on the brakes didn't work as well, and all of the warning lights were on. Yesterday on 3/25/2015 it came on and has now stayed on. The brakes are working correctly, however, I know something is wrong. I have been researching this issue and found out that Toyota is assisting with fixing this issue. M y next step is to call them.
My dashboard has melted and become very sticky and shiny to the point that a glare reflects off of it onto the windshield dangerously inhibiting visibility.
I have a 2007 Camry Hybrid. The dashboard is constantly sticky and it feels like it's literally melting away. Especially when it gets hot, I can gouge out the plastic. I talked to the local dealer, and he said I would have to replace the dash. Doesn't seem like its normal wear and tear. Also creating a shine which is causing a glare on the windshield. Concerned about reduced visibility and air bad deployment.
The dashboard on my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid is melting! it creates a glare on the windshield which is distracting and dangerous. Anything placed on it sticks. Just touching it with a fingernail causes indentations and nicks.
The dashboard is melting apparently because of the warm weather in florida. The melting plastic has developed a shine/reflection that reflects on the windshield making it extremely difficult to observe roads and other cars. This is definitely a safety hazard and must be corrected for safety reasons.
The dashboard for my 2007 Toyota camry is shiny and melting. The light reflects off of the dash making it hard and sometimes impossible to see (florida sun). Autonation Toyota was notified and said that every car company has this problem and refused to repair the problem.
When I tried to apply brakes to stop, I realized that the brake had completely failed and I was on the 110 freeway on a busy Monday morning. Luckily I didn't rear end the car in front of me. The dealer is telling me that my brake system (accuator and electronic components) are out. The car computer system cannot communicate to the brake system and thus I might loose brakes if I keep running. The check vsc system light turned on along with the abs, hybrid battery, park and all other alert lights on the dash board. In addition, I'm told my auxillary battery is also out ($460) dealer is charging me $4800 dollar (excluding the aux battery) and I don't know what to do since the car is with the dealer and I'm told the brakes will fail if I continue to drive. I have 104,000 miles and have done all servicing at Toyota dealers. No warranties and basically they can't help.
On April 12, 2014, as the car was being driven at around 30-35 miles per hour, I was approaching a stop sign and began pressing down on the brakes to come to a stop. As I pressed on the brakes, they seemed not to work. I had to keep pushing down on the brakes with force to finally get try to get the car to stop, at which point the brake lights sensor, the abs sensor, and the vsc sensors all lit up on the dashboard. As I was trying to get the car to stop, the car began swerving and I couldn't get immediate control of the car. The car felt as though it was sliding, the stability of the car was compromised. I honestly thought I was going to crash. On April 17th, 2014,in a separate incident, as I was pulling into a parking lot, I began to slow down, only to apply my brakes and they appeared to not work. Once again I had to really push down on the brakes for them to finally work. Again, all of the lights lit up on the dashboard (brakes, abs, vsc). It was also difficult to control the car and again, I felt as though I was going to crash.
I started to feel sticky spots on the top-side dashboard facing windshield. The soft, sticky spots were accumulating light-colored dust over the past year. They were not greasy, but extremely sticky and tacky to the touch. The accumulated dust was not cleanable or able to be removed without damaging dashboard material. (I rubbed off the top layer of plastic trying to gently clean with a wet poly towel). They were starting to reflect off my windshield during daytime driving. I ignored this issue for a while but lately noticed the interior glare is getting worse toward the front of my dashboard at the windshield junction. It's especially present on bright days where the sun is high up. This is presenting a potentially serious safety issue with regards to outward driving visibility. Toyota has been contacted and I started a problem case with them. I am awaiting further instructions on what Toyota wants to do next with my vehicle. A special "warranty enhancement" has been started to address this "cosmetic concern. " please look into this potentially serious safety issue to ensure Toyota is addressing this problem appropriately and expeditiously for owners.
While driving to a stop on a residential street, car was normal. As soon as the brake was applied, multiple warning lights on the dash lit up, including a message stating something about a vsc system problem. The brakes seemed to fail and the brake pedal required an extreme amount of pressure to bring the vehicle to a complete stop and narrowly avoid an accident with another vehicle which had right of way at the intersection. Had the brakes not been applied with sufficient force, I believe the car would have entered the intersection and caused an accident. This is unacceptable as my then 4 month old daughter was in the car with us. Please conduct a thorough and unbiased investigation into this matter. The dealership is asking $3300 to fix this issue, this totally negates any fuel savings the hybrid functionality has offered.
While coming to a stop before exiting a parking lot, the braking system was engaged in a normal fashion only to have the brake system shudder and then experience a loss of automatic brake assist. Many lights on the dashboard, including the 'check vsc' light, illuminated along with a very audible warning sound. The dealership identified the problem as the abs break actuator and related parts. The price to fix the issue was right near $3000 for parts and labor.
Rear windshield exploded while sitting in driveway on 8/15/15. Dashboard very shiny and sticky, causing a horrible glare. The glare gets so bad that sometimes I can't see other drivers. Toyota says they will replace it when parts come in, it's been 2 years since then and still no parts. In the meantime, the glare gets worse. It's just a matter of time before an accident occurs.
The dashboard of my car is melting. When you touch it, it feels like flypaper. It also places a glare on the windshield when the sun hits it just right causing a safety concerns. (I actually have to place a piece of cloth on the dash to prevent the glare and pray I can peel it off when I park my car. ).
I have a 2007 camry intermittently the abs light and break light lit up together and the odometer stop working simultaneously. These problems would all go away simultaneously for a while before they all go bad again simultaneously. Also the aircondition would stop working at the same time . I took it to a shop and they told me I need to replace my brake modulator /control module assembly . I been searhcing on line to see how many vehicle from Toyota had the same problem and I found that alot of Toyota cambry had the same problem , I think this need to be investigated thank you .
Car parked in sun, dashboard material getting very sticky/gooey. If touched, it gets damaged. It shows a very shiny appearance when hot ( like if you used a tire shine on it), on sunny days it creates a lot of glare on the windshield affecting visibility. Dash cannot be wiped with anything because it is very sticky and gooey. I can accept dashboard damage on a 10year plus car, but not on a 6 year old car. This is clearly a material defect and it prompts for a recall. Specially because of the glare on the front windshield the dash creates when it is very hot.
As I was approaching a pedestrian crossing abs light and check vsc light and break light went on in my Camry Hybrid. When I tried to apply breaks to stop I realized that the breaks completely failed. I did a sharp evasive turn and hit the curb hard in attempt not to run over pedestrians in the crossing! the lights subsequently disappeared and breaks resumed their normal function after a few minutes. The issue of breaks failing is intermittent and happened subsequently several times at various speeds. When taken to the dealer at first I was told there were no codes registered in the computer and the breaks operate standard. When I insisted after approximately 7 hours of testing the dealer told me the problem is with the break control unit (computer). After researching online I discovered its a widespread problem!!! and yet Toyota is behaving immoral not recalling the faulty parts that in many cases can not even be diagnosed. Moreover they do not even admit that theres an issue!.
There is a leak in the abs accumulator that causes my breaks to pulse and a alarm to sound, which is a loud whining noise. I have had my rotors and break pads replaces but that did not resolve the issue, my mechanic thinks is it the accumulator, which cost 1800 dollars just for the part. I have researched and seen hundreds of complaints about this part online. I can't afford to pay 2k for a repair at this time and I am afraid to drive my car but I have no choice due to my work and need to commute.
When brakes are applied (at a stop or coming to a stop) there is a pulsation that can be felt by the driver and passengers. Since the first occurrence this happens 100% of the time. While this pulsation of the brakes has continued to occur, starting in July, 2013, occasionally, when starting the car the following occurs: 1. With the brake depressed to start car, when the car is put in gear (with brake still depressed) the brakes do not engage and the car slowly rolls backwards (this happens whether the car is in drive or reverse). 2. At the same time the brake pedal feels "soft" as it is not engaging the brakes. 3. At this time the following lights on the dashboard are lighted: red brake light (and the emergency brake is not engaged), yellow (!) lit, abs lit, ready light is also lit. 4. All of this while the brakes are "soft" and not functioning correctly. After 5-8 seconds the gas engine engages, the lights go off, and the brake jerks into action. To date, our dealership has no idea how to fix this problem. Considering the number of incidents reported on safercar. Gov and the number of internet reportings of this and related problems, it would seem that a service bulletin or a recall would be approriate. Not all dealerships are familiar with or know how to deal with the problem.
The"check vsc system" sensor came on while I was driving. I was doing approximately 45 mph on the road. The road conditions were good and I keep up with maintenance. The abs failure light, brake and warning icons. I have it checked out and I'm told by Toyota car's abs accumulator system and water pump must be replaced and that they hadn't have such issues before. After much reasearch, this is a common complaint among Toyota Camry Hybrid owners. This seems to be a design flaw and worse, my break pads and tires are brand new. This shouldn't be an issue but breaks pulsate and makes the vehicle unsafe as you can't control breaks when needed, especially, while parked on a inclined position. I am very concerned for my safety and the safety of others if my breaks were to fail because Toyota has failed to recognize this as a vital recall repair. Without brakes you can kill or injure someone and that bad water pump can cause your engine to overheat. Please look into this and have Toyota take responsibility for this situation!.
The dashboard on my 2007 Toyota camry has been melting since August of 2012. Since it has started melting the dash is very reflective in sunny weather making it difficult to look out the front windshield. The glare has almost caused me to get in an accident on two different occasions.
