Body Problems of Toyota Camry Hybrid - part 1

Car makes a heavy humming noise when driving 30mph or more very loud dealer couldn’t fix this issue please help I don’t feel safe when driving on higher speeds.

The 2026 Toyota suddenly accelerated when pulling into a handicap space. Suddenly the vehicle jumped the concrete barrier and sidewalk and hit a building. The airbags did not deploy and the seat belts came off as normal. The building was not damaged but my wife sustained a shoulder injury and whiplash. The vechicle was towed from the scene and is at collison center where the collison occurred. Note: 2026 is when all electronic components were engineered into the vehicle. The vehicle has not been started since the accident. The outcome could have resulted in a life altering injury or death. The problem has not been reproduced as the vehicle is not driveable. The vehicle was purchased the 14 miles on it. As of today 1/16/2026, we are not aware of any vehicle inspection. Our insurance company told us they would not pay for the download of the black box but we could if we would like. We decided to hire a person to download the black box and give us the results of the download. This is to occur on January 20, 2026. There were no warning indicators prior to the sudden acceleration. No cautionary lights came on and continued application of the brakes did not slow the vehicle. No dash lights were on after the sudden acceleration.

Persistent high-pitched whistling noise during operation on the drivers side. It’s possible could damage my ears and affects the safety and usability of the car and my personal well-being,.

I was parking my car in my garage and moved from the brake to the gas to move up a small amount. I barely touched the gas and the car surged forward hitting a shelving unit in my garage. It was a very scary event. The car and shelving unit were damaged. Thankfully, no individuals were injured.

My dashboard is melting, since it is melting it is causing the dashboard to be really shiney, which is causing a huge reflection on my windshield, which is making it hard to see out. The dashboard is also really sticky from melting, and im also concerned about the airbags because of this.

Tl the contact called on behalf of his mom who owns a 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that the dashboard was melting and sticky. The contact mentioned that the failure caused a glare in the driver's face, which made it difficult to drive. Toyota walnut creek (2100 n broadway, walnut creek, CA 94596, (925) 357-3700) was contacted and they stated that everyone was notified of the extended warranty for the failure. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the warranty expired last year. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

I'm having a glare on my windshield (when I'm driving and particularly in sunny conditions) from my dashboard that has melted. It's become very shiny and makes it difficult to see when driving. I have tried cleaning it but because of the substance it is not possible to clean it.

Wind noise coming from drivers door when driving at speeds in excess of 29 mph. And higher. Local Toyota dealership said they know about this issue and can not fix at this time. Please help?.

Dashboard melts in the sun creating a sticky shiny surface that reflects onto the windshield and inhibits visibility. I cannot see out of the car during the day anymore due to the reflection.

Takata inflators - on July 13, 2018 the vehicle was in motion, on a high way traveling in the left hand side lane accelerating with traffic when the driver suffered a seizure. The vehicle's air bags did not deploy after colliding with another vehicle, and hitting the guard wires. The vehicle was totaled. Seat belts were worn. Injuries were sustained. Driver was taken via ems to the local hospital and treated. Vehicle was towed to local facility. Title was turned over to towing company. Safety risk- drivers side front airbags not deployed during crash.

The rubber button to open the trunk melted, down to the rear bumper of my car (black).

Toyota fails to disclose that sunroof has drains designed to discharge water from the top of the vehicle. If one of these drains get clogged (and could happen very easy) water gets inside the vehicle. Water infiltration can start with a very slow amount so the issue is not discovered immediately because underneath the carpet is a material that absorbs this water. Mold can be developed, as well as electrical malfunctions during driving. My spouse accused breathing issues and psoriasis and we discovered that our vehicle is getting rain water inside. Could be for months or even years, as well as since we purchased it - there is not way to assume or to notice how much water you have in which time because you discover it when is too late. Toyota refuses to assume any responsibility for the damage, claiming that are not responsible for damages caused by outside elements. But in the Toyota owner manual this drain is not disclosed to the customer, so it could take a periodic check. Also lustine Toyota from woodbridge va where we service the car at every six months since we purchased the vehicle, does not have any recommendation, written or not, about these drains but instead can diagnose very quick that the water in the carpet comes from clogged drains. How come that Toyota is well aware about the issue but is not raising any awareness about it, so the customer can be prepared in advance instead of having the vehicle full with water and to pose dangers while operating the vehicle for himself and others around? Toyota needs to be held responsible like any other manufacturers are (see ww, Chrysler, Volvo) for failure to disclose important car features. We will need to get the vehicle back to the dealer and the issue to be corrected on their expense but the Toyota customer service, represented by mrs. Kristen, refuses. My dashboard has become extremely shinny and the glare is impeding on my visibility in the forward area. I hit a garbage can on a sunny day. Thank god it wasn't a person. This seems to be a defect in the manufacturing of the dashboard material used by Toyota.

Unfortunately on 4of July I happen to be driving home from work as im driving entering the intersection to enter freeway I start smelling strong gas fumes half way into the freeway I start seeing smoke rise up so I pulled over grabbed whatever I could as I back away from the vehicle the entire front of the vehicle catches on fire I call 911 and unfortunately because insurance company was off they towed my vehicle that is now a total loss I've only had this vehicle for 4 months I purchased through a dealership I put almost 4000 the first down payment and unfortunately because I didnt have full coverage everyone I have contact is no help I also had to rush to the hospital the day after I just thank the lord I didnt have my children with me I hope there is something that you guys can do for me and my family.

Dash headboard is very sticky and when driving in sunny conditions there is a really bad glare.

The doors opens when the car is in motion although they are locked. By mistake I pulled the handle when it was in motion and the door opened it t happened on a city street. Toyota employees said that it is normal, but any car should open the doors when it is motion.

The moon roof on my xsl constantly rattles while driving whenever the auto goes over a bump; especially an uneven bump that torque or twists the chassis.

Hi the problem is with the driver side arm rest which is cracked because of cheap plastic and it flexing I think its dangerous because while you driving for long hours and you need to rest your arm its not relayable your arm dips in the hole instead of comfort I hope it explains rite.

I paid modern Toyota a lot of money to add navigation system in car they put a third party system in car last Sunday I was in the car and letting a lady pass with shopping cart the mic of third party system melted the whole assembly on roof where the glass holder and lights are fall on lap I got shock and hit the gas I hit the shopping cart and lady fall to ground that made a dent in front fender of car I went to Toyota told them I paid a lot of $ for system and they need to replace this with factory with built with bluetooth and navigation and the dent they refuse to do so I told them my family travels in that car what if I was traveling on highway and that happen they didn't care about my safety or my families I call Toyota they are buying time so I can't take action against them, I need justice I am paying a lot of money for this car if they won't fix it then I need $ to fix it my self.

On may 8th 2015 , I was taking a traffic in a curb on irvington Ave newark NJ the steering wheel stuck and I could not have any break so then the car goes straight with me to a pot light,I have serious injuries in my chest and lower back, my car is completely broken( drier's fender,front light,radiator, support radiator, lower arm control , water pump,wood,wheels,bumper etc. . . And the rest of the name that I don't remember the following week ,I contacted Toyota ; they opened a claim until 30 days and about another 60 days after inspected my car they sent a letter and they told me they can't do nothing for me ;there's nothing wrong with the car. Please help me cause the needs a lot of money to be fixed.

I am driving our 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid which my husband and I purchased new. I was aproaching the city of anacortes wa. I had been driving on sr 20 which goes from 55mph to 35 mph and from two lanes to one. I am approaching a light I have my foot on the brake when suddenly my car accelerated as if I had floored it, hitting a pickup truck in front of me. Upon impact it moved forward and then with my foot still on the brake I hit it again. I have no idea how fast I was going but for that brief time I felt as if I was in a rocket. I put the car in nuetral and at this point regained control and was able to pull to side of road. No damage to the truck. My front bumper needs to be replaced as well as bent license plate. Air bag did not deploy. The car was put on a flatbed and brought back to our residence some 50 miles away. Neither of us are thrilled about getting behind the wheel of this car again and so it sits in our garage. Our plans are to get rid of this car even though we loved it up until this point. My husband called the dealership yesterday ( 3/30/15) and they refered him to Toyota USA. He spoke with someone there and was given a case number he was told he would receive a call within twenty four hours. Well that came and went and when he called back today he was told the person who was handling this was gone for the day he was told she attempted to reach us twice. Strange she never left a message. We are at this time waiting for response.

At approximately 10:30 am, on 3/10/2015, while my wife was making the final approach (approximately 5 ft. ) to a parking spot at the mill bakery, navoo, IL; she experienced an unintended vehicle acceleration. The hybrid car was running on its electric motor when my wife began to step on the brake to slow the car to a stop. While braking, the car turned on the gas engine and accelerated with enough speed to leave leave rubber tire marks on the parking surface. The car jumped the parking barrier and damaged the lower portion of the right-front bumper. My wife continued to step on the brake and was able to stop the car. When my wife returned to our home in missouri on 3/11/2015, I reported this problem to the Toyota company, my local dealer and insurance company.

A popping, knocking, snapping noise is loud, evident, persistent, and discerning. The noise causes concern over the vehicle's structural integrity in an impact. The feeling is that the vehicle does not have enough rigidity to adequately protect passengers in a crash. It is a known issue with Toyota. Toyota updated technical service bulletin t-sb-0088-12 on 06/13/2012. It is titled moon roof assembly structure noise. Applicable to 2007 - 2011 camry and Camry Hybrids. In the introduction Toyota states: some 2007 -2011 north american produced camry and camry hv vehicles may exhibit a knocking, popping, ticking, or snapping noise form the moon roof area while driving. The service bulletin describes the dis-assembly and re-assembly of the moon roof structure and headliner. Torquing nuts and bolts to specification for the purpose of reinforcement is described. From the text procedure 2 #5. Loosen the 8 moon roof reinforcement to moon roof housing bolts. #6. Remove the 8 moon roof reinforcement to body structure bolts. #7. Remove the 8 nuts and the moon roof housing sub-assembly. I believe this issue to be a design and/or manufacturing defect affecting the vehicles structural integrity. In fact, the Toyota service bulletin describes it as such. Service bulletin t-sb-0088-12 can be downloaded from the internet. My goal is for the NHTSA to issue a recall on 2007 - 2001 Toyota camry and camry hv vehicles. Toyota has refused to do this as warranty work on 2 occasions.

When vehicle is driven over uneven or non-level surfaces, noises from the rear roof indicate loose welds or joints.

My husband & I were involved in a collision with a deer on June 8, 2014, with our 2009 Camry Hybrid. We were traveling about 70 mph on interstate 72 east around jacksonville, IL. It was a front end collision as you will see in the pictures. Neither of us was injured; however, the air bags did not deploy. Had this been something stationary that we had the collision with we would have been injured. Can you tell me why this would happen? I am now very concerned for my safety in my car.

Three of the four door lock actuators have failed. The failures begin intermittently and then result in total failure. The front driver side door and rear driver side door have totally failed. The rear passenger door now intermittently fails. Toyota indicated that they have no recalls or extended warranties. Internet searches show that multiple Toyota models have this as a common failure. This poses a significant safety issue as the door locks do not respond to the electrical unlock / lock button and do not respond to the remote. Manual unlock still works; however, in the case of small children or use of the child safety locks, this will likely not be an option. I have registered a complaint case with Toyota USA. Toyota USA indicated that nothing will be done by them at this time. They will notify me if they issue a recall or extended warranty in the future.

Stop and go traffic on the 101 eb going 10 mph at 8:50 am. Tried to stop and brakes failed. I tried again to stop and brakes failed. Ran into the left rear of car in front of me. We were all moving slowly so damage to his car was less than mine. But the feeling of not being able to stop the car was traumatic! car is not due for service for another 1000 miles. It is serviced regularly by dealer.

I have a Toyota camry 2011 hybrid model, I hear a knocking sound coming from the roof. I took it to the dealership and they said it is the problem with the moon roof. It is most persistent when driving on the uneven street pavement. According to the dealer, the headliner needs to be replaced and it will cost about $600. This car was never involved in any accidents and I hardly used the moon roof. I believe this is a manufacturing defect and should be reported.

Noise made when turn on heater. This happened suddenly with no previous noises before. Had been in car driving and using heater for about an hour before the noise started. This vehicle also had two other issues. Passenger & driver visors wont stay up. The door locks wont work. They haven't worked since not long after purchased vehicle. One day they work, another not.

Each time we open the trunk to the Camry Hybrid, it wants to come down on your head. It's a danger to anyone who opens it. We now regret buying our first Toyota. No telling what else is going to go wrong with the car. We thought that Toyota had finally fixed all of the problems with their vehicles, however; it looks like new ones keep popping up. We really like the look and mpg of the camry but, now we just want to get rid of it.

At a parking spot, full stop, suddenly the vehicle surged and hit a cement post. Air bags did not deploy. Damage to vehicle was over $7500 left knee/shin hit dash due to knee air bag not deploying. Injury was not reported as it did not show up until later.

Annoying tapping sound coming from the roof of my car.

To the point, trunk will not stay open on incline. Closed on my head while I was going to retrieve items. Called it in and Toyota told me they never heard of this complaint. The local dealer said they can not fix it.
