Two problems related to cruise control have been reported for the 1999 Toyota Corolla. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer states vehicle surges while cruise control is activated, manufacturer refuses to repair vehicle with the new cruise control components.
On two incidents cruise control activated on its own, consumer applied brakes, but it would not override. Also, attempted to shift gears, but it did not work. Consumer could hear motor , it sounded as though it was fighting itself . Vehicle finally stopped when consumer turned off the vehicle. Dealer thought on the first incident that it was driver's error, and could not find any defect.
