I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla (le). I bought it almost exactly 3 years ago with about 12,300 miles on it. Currently, it does not have 50k. I have to drive downtown for nursing school, it takes roughly 20-30 minutes. The very terrifying and incredibly dangerous issue that I have been having is that I will be driving 65mph on the expressway and it will suddenly just drop down to 30/40mph. Due to this issue, I have almost been in a crash. I will change lanes thinking my car will accelerate to pass someone and it will just drop down to 30mph! also, while I am idle, it will shake and rev. . So the rpm will be up close to 2; yet, I am idle! I have read of others experiencing similar issues. This is so dangerous and I do not understand why this has not been addressed sooner. The worst part is no one knows what is wrong. I took it and had a diagnostic test run, it said one of the ignition coils was faulty. . On a 2009 Toyota with less than 50k miles. . . That doesn't sound, right huh. Well, I took it to a mechanic and they gave me a new battery, an oil change and ran another diagnostic test (after switching the ignition coil(b) to another (acord). It recorded nothing. I spent $500 it was fine for about an hour then the check engine light came back on and it started doing the same thing. I am very angry with Toyota for not addressing this issue, especially since others have experienced it and it is dangerous. My safety and the safety of others is at risk.
After the Smart technology software was installed on my vehicle the check engine light came on. With the recalls Toyota has been having I felt it was necessary to take my car to an outside entity so I took my car to ntb for a diagnosis and was told that the 02 sensor on my vehicle was failing, the p02420 catalyst was below threshold. The consensus was that when the Smart stop was installed that the 02 sensors should of been replaced as well. In addition the codes were flagged shortly after ecu update. Why was this not done as part of the recall? these two go hand in hand. The Smart stop recall needs to be recalled or upgraded to include the sensors. My car shutters now when coming to a stop or start, which did not occur prior to the software upgrade. I am afraid to drive it. . I dont know when it will stop altogether and not restart. Will I be on the highway?? this was not thought through and rushed into. As a consumer, I am looking at a huge repair bill that I shouldnt have to if the recall was done properly.
Driving on interstate and suddenly check battery light and check engine light came on and temp indicated vehicle was hot. Pulled over as soon as able to safely do so.
2009 Toyota Corolla. Consumer states check engine light turned on with code #p2757 transmission tcc solenoid off.
I was currently on 1 and 9 north of jersey city NJ. I was on a stop light and when it turned green, the car did not accelerate as much as it was suppose to when you press on gas pedal. It was literally moving 5 miles per hour. I was pressing the gas pedal for the car to go but it was still not even moving up. I turned on the hazards and pulled over. Then the check engine light came on. I turned off the car first. I checked the gas tank and the engine but I couldn't find anything wrong with it. The check engine light was lit until the next day. I brought it to the car dealership and they said they are not 100% sure what is wrong with it but they disconnected the alarm wire to see if that was the problem. The second problem of this car is when you press on the brake, it still moves a little bit. When you start going and pressing on the gas pedal, you have to press on it harder for it to go but it gases up than it normally does. I have recently saw the previous owners receipts for its car service and he had the same problem. He always had to fix the accelerator but until now, it is still the same and still needs to be fixed. I don't know what to do and where to go to fix this problem.
I was driving home from a dallas cowboy game with my grandson on a rural road. The car suddenly lost power and lights starting flashing. It almost came to a sudden stop. I had no steering control for a short period. The enginewarning light continued to flash. I was able to drive home at about 25 miles per hour. I called the dealer in abilene texas and was told to have the car toed. They could not or would not tell me what had happen. They did tell me that they got it to repeat what I had happen, but did not know what caused it. If this had happened sooner while on a busy highway, I believe there could have been a serious accident. I believe this is a computer problem with the cas. The car only had 5000 miles and I was not compensated for the towing as promised.
Bought brand new (3miles) Corolla le on Friday, Jan 2, 2009. On Jan 5, while making a turn into a parking lot, the car completely "froze": no steering, no acceleration, no braking possible. All dashboard lights came on. I came to a stop (luckily, the parking lot was semi-empty); turned off the ignition, restarted the car. All dashboard lights were off- but the "check engine" stayed on. Called the dealer who recommended bringing the car to service for a check. Drove there (7 miles)- the "check engine" light remained on the whole time. The mechanic said that "the engine light doesn't come on". Was given the car back (after road test by the mechanic and, presumably, a computerized check) and told that "there is nothing wrong with the car". Feel completely unsafe driving the vehicle now.
Vehicle stalling when making a quick deceleration from over 40mph to 15mph or to a complete stop. Engine dies, check engine light comes on, and electrical continues to function. Car restarts with no problem. This has occurred 2ce in the past 2 days, once the engine was cold, within 2 miles of start, the other occurred when engine was warm after driving 10 miles on highway, and slowing down quickly to pass through electronic toll booth. Toyota dealer checked vehicle, could not duplicate, nor did the system store any codes or event conditions.
