37 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/26/2017

The complaint is with the radio. The car was in motion on the street when it all of a sudden restarted itself. I thought nothing of it only because it has happened before except everything went back to normal and worked properly. But now after that has happened it doesn't stop doing that. It didnt even fully restart itself. It just keeps restarting to where I can't use the radio, navigation or anything not even the aux cord or usb port to play any music of some sort. I have tried parking and let it do its thing and nothing it still continues to restart.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

I bought my car brand new in April of 2017 and had nothing but problems, tires are always flat, steering doesn't work right, when I turn my car on it sounds really loud. Brought it Toyota 10 times and they did anything, there is constant squeak noise and my roof feels like it's going to blow off when I am on the interstate. Gas mileage sucks Toyota states I got bad gas so they flushed it out but still hear that loud noise. My tires I have to fill up once a week but they say they are fine. Everything in this car is cheap and I hate it. They charged me 26 grand for a 17 thousand car without me ever knowing brandon Toyota is the worst. Spoke to the general manager and service manager nothing is ever taken care of.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 04/26/2017

My daughter was on a 2 lane stretch of I-15 highway southbound, approx 7 miles north of lasvegas nv. She was in the left lane slowly creeping by a 18 wheel rig w/trailer. She was doing 74 with cruise control and witnesses say the rig must have been doing 73mph. He violently turned into her lane causing her to do evasive maneuver left and brake hard skidding into the soft shoulder then spinning clockwise crossing to the right side hitting a small shoulder elevation change with both drivers side wheels, causing a double roll over and a cartwheel landing on the trunk, then coming to a rest on the roof. Not a single air bag deployed! she suffered multiple blunt hits to the head from hitting against the door, she has a concussion with sprained shoulder and ankles. Granted she should be in much worse condition but we are grateful she had her blankets and her dogs beds that flew from the back seat to the front helping to keep her padded from even more trauma. I feel that a side curtain and steering bag should have deployed. Is this a fluke that Toyota engineers missed? because no particular corner was impacted? the rollover impacts were at the wheels, just above both bumpers and the entire roof area.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/05/2017

Car has several issues, one is definitely the vehicle warning lights in dash, the warning lights pop up at different times for no reason occasionally and dealers can't find issues, car also has issues with braking system. Several times went around curves it on stops and car locked up and went sideways, dealer said tested but less than a mile put on car?? car does not act like it has normal abs and almost got in several accidents with my kids and grandson because of it my stopping or locking up!! also have issues since I bought it with radio/features/display. Things show up half way or it turns off at times and also calls out even when untouched. Worried about gps cutting out when needed too. Also plastic part under passaged side glove box continuously falls off, took to dealer and they just put back in, didn't replace but you could see the bend where hook was. And gas mileage and the recent cvt recall, they updated, not replaced after I asked and described how it was driving, and still having issues because they didn't replace after I said it wouldn't go over a certain speed during highway travel or roads requiring over 45 mph. The driving warning thing when you go over lines doesn't always work either, it does 50% of the time. Explained that too but nothing done. Very concerned about this car!! had since 11/2016 and barely drove because of issues and safety concerns. It out has 8000 miles because of it.

44 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/23/2017

I've had everything fixed on my 2009 Corolla regarding the steering, thinkin it was the alignment ,tires, balancing, brakes ,spent alotta money at my mechanic. . Turns out its the steering control unit. At highway speeds my car wanders very bad and I'm afraid ill hit another car. Even changing lanes my car trouble sometimes and it is a safety issue. My mechanic and tire guys said this is not safe to drive. . I will be writing Toyota and takin my car in to see if the cost my car is covered or not. Toyota was investigaged but noting and were later sured over this issue. Toyota shoud be ashamed for knowing about this issue and refuseing to cover the costs.

Jerking front prior perhaps twice on the day in question I reversed to go in a friend house and the car went a full half circle and end in the neighbor hose next door. 46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/01/2016

The car I have referenced had a recall for the ecm unit in 2011. The unit was replaced (6/29/2011) for car not starting or stopping and shutting off. Soldering bad causing cracks in board. On 10/3/2011 the car had to be reprogrammed because the car would sometimes turn over but not start, then 30 min or so the card would start. Now the same problem is occurring. I have actually been in my car over night. I stopped at a store, turn off the car went inside for 10 min. This was around 6:00 pm came back out car would not start until the next morning around 8:15 am. I slept in my car so I did not have to leave on the side of the road or in a parking lot! everyone seems to ignore what is happening here. This is repetitive for this car. You already have a a complaint from a person dated 2010 where his ecm had to be replaced two to three times and he is still unhappy. At least my car has gone a little longer than his had. I do not have hundreds of dollars to pay for continuing to fight what is already in black and white at Toyota. Help me get this car fixed at their cost. If this was not a repeating issue, I would gladly pay for it, but it is repetitive!!!!!! this is an on going thing and started about a u=year ago. My case number with Toyota USA 1709051915 where I talked with them about this at the first of September. They say once a recall is complete there is nothing they can do. The problem I am having is highlighted on the attachment dated 10/3/2011.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 10/24/2016

I received an air safety recall notice therefore I scheduled an appt with boch Toyota in norwood, MA to get it fix since that was the dealer I bought the car from 11 years ago. On the day of my appointment I went there and they told me they replaced the air bag and that I was all set then I left. Two weeks after while I was driving on my way home my air bag light came on, I immediatly called boch Toyota they asked that I bring the car, I went there directly. When I arrived they took my car to go check why the air bag light was on, I reminded them that I was there two weeks ago maybe they had forgtotten to do something. The service advisor told me he would have a mechanic take a look; an hour after another service advisr larry came and told me that the air bag sensor needed to be replaced that I would cost me $800. I told him I had my car for 11 years and the air bag light never had any issue until I brought my car there for them to fix the air bag as requested by the Toyota company;larry told me the issue the car has now is not covered under the safety recall and that my only option was to get it fix, he also said that if I was involve in a car accident the air bag will not deploy. I told him that it was boch Toyota's responsibilty to fix it, he told me it was not possible. Next they brought my car for me then I left. My air bag light is still on in the car, I have asked two mechanics for suggestions and they both informed me that boch Toyota should have taken care of it. Can someone please contact me ? I need to know how to proceed with this sice I'm driving a car with air bags that will not deploy in case I have an accident.

53 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2003 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/11/2016

My smog light keeps going on even after I have it repaired. I know someone who has the same exact car that I have and she got the recall on the ecm and they replaced it and she did not have to replace the catalytic converter to pass the CA smog. I replaced it already and it is super expensive. . . 1,600!! last year I had my car service for the check engine light and it cost me 1,000. Afterwards the check engine light went on again. They are saying I have to have the catalytic converter replaced again. I feel this is unfair if my friend had that control module replaced and no longer had the check engine light problem like I am having. I believe it could be the mechanism is faulty. It is hard to believe I have to replace the catalytic converter all over again. I did not drive that many miles. Plus in CA they said they would give us money towards the repair but it was very difficult and I was led to believe I could get 500 plus 800 so I thought I would be paying the balance after 1300 which would have still been 300 plus but I was only able to get 500 towards the repair so I still had to pay 1,100! it really bothers me because my friend who has the same make and model had the same problem with the check engine light going on and they recalled it and replaced it she has never had to replace her catalytic converter yet but I am now having to do it twice! she has high mileage perhaps more than I have. Please look into this for me.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2003 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/13/2016

I received a recall notice via mail regarding the supplemental restraint system and electronic control unit in June of 2016. I called my local Toyota dealer who has performed recalls in the past on my vehicle to schedule an appointment. On June 13th, 2016 I spoke to a rep and was informed that they were out of parts and would call me when the parts were in, approx 4-6 weeks. On July 13th, 2016 I placed a follow up call and was informed that the parts were still not in and they would call me in approximately 6-8 weeks. To this date I have not received a call that the parts are in; therefore I do not believe this Toyota dealer has remedied this recall in a timely manner. I have followed the directions on the NHTSA. Gov website to file a complaint against the manufacturer. The specific Toyota dealer that has not had the part autoland Toyota, 170 us 22, springfield township, NJ 07081 (800)288-6526.

56 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 04/10/2016

I am the owner of a 2010 Toyota Corolla, whose VIN number 1nxbu4ee6az209127. That car had a low mileage when I brought to germain Toyota in naples, florida, to fix any problem at that time that had caused the ¿ engine light¿ to appear on the dash. I was told that the ¿gas cap¿ was the problem and that I needed to replace it; I followed their recommendation. But, one day after the same light appeared again. Disappear; therefore, I decided not to come back for that same thing. Recently, in several occasions the car suddenly stopped working while I was driving it both in local and highway 75 without any warning or sign that such thing was going to happen: ¿the gas pedal just goes to zero, that means the pressure went quickly and suddenly to no pressure, and three lights are shown on the dash. ¿ thank god, I am still alive! I took the car to germain Toyota, they had urged me to replace the ¿battery,¿ which I did. The problem resurfaced the day after. The second time, they asked me to replace the ¿ecu,¿ which I did. That costed me more than $800, close to $900. The three lights reappeared after two days. I came brought the car back to germain Toyota, they told me that it was another thing that caused the problem. Last week, the first week of December, I brought it back to them for the same lights, and they told me to replace again the ¿gas cap,¿ I paid another money, but the same problem continues to go on and on and persist every week. The dealer refuses to acknowledge and accept that it is a factory defect. Those things happened both in streets and highway I-75. I do not feel safe to continue to drive it anymore, and I do not want to sell it to place someone else¿s life in peril. Therefore, I ask your department for help. I cannot keep on spending almost every week for the same problem. I thank you in advance!.

57 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 03/30/2016

My 2009 Corolla experienced issues identical to a prior recall circa 2010 for '05-'08 Corolla & matrix models regarding engine control modules (ecm) that may have been improperly manufactured. On 3/30/16, the check engine light turned on and my vehicle experienced harsh shifting and struggled for gas. Vehicle was in motion with over a 1/4 tank of gas on a residential street at the time. On 3/31/16, I had the vehicle towed to my local Toyota dealership. Diagnostics were run and ecm fault codes were identified. Service associates working on my Corolla addressed their concerns and were repeatedly denied requests for a replacement ecm. At one point, I was advised by Toyota dealership staff to personally order an ecm unit through the parts dept. , insisting that the request coming directly from a customer would not be denied. I attempted to place an order with parts, and that request later was denied. After several re-tests and denied requests for a replacement ecm, my vehicle received a replacement tail light bulb (what I refer to as a "band-aid" fix) and was released back to me on 4/5/16. The very next morning (4/6/16), check engine light came back on and vehicle was brought in. Once again, codes tied to the ecm were identified. After another week of tests, denied ecm fix requests, and another band-aid repair, the vehicle was released back to me on 4/14/16. During this two-week ordeal, I incurred over $540 in rental car expenses and $186 in "band-aid" repairs, despite the fact that ecm issues were identified from the beginning. I have opened 2 cases with Toyota customer experience center to address this ecm issue with my 2009 Corolla, the prior 2010 recall, and have requested that my VIN be incorporated into the recall. So far, Toyota has denied any responsibility, insisting that their ecms don't fail, offering no assistance for issues they deem off-warranty/off-recall.

Failure Date: 01/10/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Corolla. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle swayed left and right without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it could not be diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 107,200.

60 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/06/2016

I had spoken to mike from carson Toyota regarding this recall more than 6 months ago. I found out about this recall from my coworker who has the same model and year car as mine. Mike had told me that only a few Toyotas were on recall and the last time I had gotten my oil changed there, he told me that my model was not in that recall. . But I did get a letter in the mail. I told him that my coworker told me about the electrical window on the right side. Mike had told me that it wouldn't be covered. I would have to pay about $400 plus for that window that got stuck. Mike did tell me that my VIN model was not counted for. I am real upset. This past December, I drove to san francisco when it is raining and windy, this is a real big hazard for a branch to have come inside my car without my daughter being able to close to the window and had poked her arm some how.

61 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/10/2015

My car had difficulty starting after getting the new battery last month, and a couple days ago my engine stalled as I slowed it down to stop in the busy traffic road while I was going to the dealership to get it checked. I had it towed to the nearest dealership assuming that a wrong battery was installed, but it turned out to be a bad ecm. I had to get it fixed by paying over $800. The thing is the ecm unit in my car was a replaced one in the past as the Toyota recalled it. I am really scared of driving my car now because it might happen again in the future, and I wonder if Toyota knows this issue that the ecm does not recognize a new battery well. I read the same story while searching for this problem.

62 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

I have a manual transmission and at random times while I am driving and in motion, I'll push in the clutch to brake or coast, the rpms go down until the engine shuts off, and the steering wheel goes hard. The headlights and dash lights still work, in fact all the dashboard lights, like the check engine and maintenance required lights, actually come on (just like when you're key ignition is in the "on" position but you haven't started the engine yet). The car starts right back up when I turn the ignition or pop the clutch while in gear. This has been happening about once every week ever since I bought the car over 4 years ago. Within the past couple of months at random times when trying to start my car my car (stationary), the engine will turn over but won't start on first try. On second try I will turn the ignition and pump the gas pedal and after a few seconds it will start up and run perfectly fine. I've read about the recall of the ecm for my make, model, and year, but when I search my VIN it comes back with no current recalls. Within the first year of owning the vehicle (purchased from private party in August of 2015), I learned of the airbag recall and took in and got it fixed, but a couple of months ago, about 2. 5 years after taking it in for the recall, my srs light came on as well. The check engine light is not illuminated and everything else is functioning properly, but I am a little worried about safety especially now that the srs light has come on. On multiple occasions I have been surprised by the engine shut off while trying to make a turn, which very easily could have caused an accident, and now if I do get in an accident and the airbag system fails, then I could be injured even more severely or die. I'm a college student on a very tight budget, otherwise I would've just seen a mechanic by now. I thought I'd try filing a complaint first.

63 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

My ecm constantly have issues with stabilizing the vehicle on a daily occurrence. When it works as it should the car feels stable like it has added weight and the steering is responsive. The ecm in the late 2000s all have ecm problems which is a safety concern since braking, transmission and steering are all affected in some adverse way. The vehicle had a O2 sensor replaced and it still has the same issues, alternator also replaced. I believe Toyota knew about this issue with its Toyotas and decided not to issue a recall in order to save money. Ive been dealing with this issue since a month after I got my car 4 or 5 months after I got my car. The code p0607 along with the p0138 are constantly going off in my vehicle. Sometimes the p0138 will go away but the symptoms of a bad ecm still remain. The car shakes, doesn't stall yet, feels sluggish and hard to keep straight at almost any speed.

Check engine and vsc lights blinking. Hangs up in third gear. Had code pulled. Shift sylenoid closed. This seems to be an ongoing problem with these cars. Dealerships just give you the runaround. 67 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

My car has had a recall that according to Toyota they do not have a solution for. I have been unable to get anyone to travel with me in my car due to the recall notice indicating that the sub-wire harness (filter) and the supplemental restraint system (srs) electronic control unit (ecu) has not been installed. I don't have the possibility of buying another car and so I feel that my life is in danger as well. On 04-13-15 a new case was opened to resolve this issue (case#1504132776). I later followed up and spoke to sabrina (manager at the Toyota located in west columbia, SC in July 2015. She also said that no remedy has been released yet. I would like to ask for someone to give urgent consideration to my case. I feel that I cant even sell this car because this recall lowers the price of the vehicle and my conscience does not allow to pass on to someone else a danger like this. Will someone please help!.

70 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/14/2014

1. While driving at approx. 25 mph, the car suddenly lost power; I was able to drive about 2 mph into a nearby gas station. The battery light was not on, but the orange engine light came on. After 5 minutes, the employee was able to start the car and I drove one mile to my home. My repair mechanic did a computer scan indicating possible problems with a switch and suggested that I drive around for about a week before returning. 2. A similar incident occured 10 days later. I glided into a parking lot, waited 10 min. , and the car resumed at regular speed. 3. On 8/7/14, I drove 2 mi. Back to the repair shop at a regular speed. A second scan could not be completed because the car suddenly stopped responding to the repair shop's computer. At this point the car is completely inoperable and must be towed to a Toyota dealer. I was advised that I may need a new computer. My 2009 Toyota Corolla has about 48,000 miles on it. I do not believe that a computer failure is normal within the age and mileage range of this car. Thank you for looking into this issue. .
