Where the incident happened? the incident happened at the following google coordinates (39. 21707240377137, -77. 6491829535095) on an unpaved, but well-maintained road. When this incident took place? 09/11/2021 – around 10. 30am who is travelling with you? I was travelling with my wife (vijaya) and pet dog (leo). Both my wife and I have the seat belts on. How are the driving conditions? a bright and sunny morning with clear visibility, minimal wind and no rain. The road is totally dry. In a way perfect driving condition. How the incident happened? a white truck came in the opposite direction and since the road is narrow I pulled my Highlander to the right, where there is some loose gravel on the side of the road. When I pulled to the side I am almost at a standstill and after the truck had passed started moving the car towards the middle of the road. At this moment the Highlander suddenly started swiveling to the left, and the traction became very wobbly and when tried to apply brakes, brake did not work at all. In stead the car started going out of control on the left side and is about to crash into 2 large trees on the side of the car. At that time without having any control over the brakes, I tried to steer towards right and the car turned sharp towards right, crossed road and fell into a 15 feet ditch on the right side of the car. What is the car behavior witnessed? total loss of breaks, self-acceleration, and unpredictable steering control. The whole incident might’ve happened in about 10-15 seconds. Neither the auto-braking nor the collision control has triggered. Not sure what triggered this behavior of the car. It appeared as if the car tried to auto-correct the traction and something malfunctioned.

While driving threw a construction zone the car upfront of me stopped. Upon applying the brakes nothing happened. There was a tractor trailer beside us and I was at the rer and another car was at the front plenty of time to stop. Brakes didn't activate until right before impact and the nose dove down. Abs never activated and the collision avoidance never activated. I was traveling with my wife and two young kids lucky no one was hurt and I had no avenue of escape due to cement barriers and 18 wheeler.

The forward collision did not activate cause the vehicle to meet into a accident. The car didn't give a warning, or try to stop itself. Took it to the dealer and was told that the system was working properly. But I tested the system in the parking lot, with a cardboard box and the system still didn't activate.

The dashboard on my Highlander hybrid 2006 (awd) had all its check lights on suddenly. I was not driving then. The car was in my parking lot for a few hours before which it had no signs on. The warning message said: vehicle stability control (vsc). I took it to my nearest Toyota service center for diagnosing the issue. They reported that the abs systems have started to fail. Specifically, the abs actuator is losing pressure and should be replaced. They quoted a price of $2700 approx. Which includes about $2000 for parts. Turns out that this same part had been replaced in 2016 during a recall - but they cannot attend to this again without charging the customer. What I was never told about was that a whirring sound - which has always been an issue with this car - was always from the abs actuator. The same service center has checked and diagnosed this car multiple times - so I am surprised that they did not find the abs actuator noise a problem on earlier occasions. I have been reading about this on this forum and Toyotanation and this seems to be a consistent issue with the older Toyota hybrid Highlanders and other hybrids as well - with the same diagnosis and approximately the same price quoted by the service centers. I have not currently fixed this issue since I cannot afford this price. It also seems that I will be paying for manufacturer's or service center's negligence since this actuator seemed to be faulty all along and I was not warned about this.

My abs, vsc, (I), and emergency brake dash lights are on continuously. It is very hard to stop the car as it feels like the brake isn't engaging. When it does engage you are jerked forward.
Driving on a two lane road following a car in front of me. Cruise is on and the car in front of me is not affecting my speed. The car in front of me turns left into their driveway and is completely off the roadway. My car brakes very hard like there is something in front of me. Their was no on coming trafiic. I've have had this happen again but the other car was turning right. The car was completely off the roadway and again my car starts braking very hard. I was almost rear ended by the car behind me.
The brake actuator assembly and brake booster pump assembly had a recall on it but my truck was not having problems then. I noticed that when I start braking, the truck speeds up. Then all the light on the dash board came on. When my vehicle started having problems I call and they told me that the recall had expired 3 months earlier for my vehicle and it was up to the owner to have it fixed. I didn't get a notice and I wasn't aware of such recall so why am I liable for the repairs. I need help with this please.

A month ago, we were driving on the highway through snow showers up to nh to go skiing, with our nifty adaptive cruise control on, when I realized that we were accelerating into the car in front of us. I assumed that the front sensor was covered in slush, took off the cruise control and drove manually. Only about 5 minutes later did the dashboard alert notify me that the front sensor wasn't working. Brought it into the dealer. They couldn't find anything wrong. Here's the problem: the car says "trust me. If you use my cool safety systems, I'll keep you from hitting the car in front of you. . . And should something disable the sensor that carries out this function, I'll let you know, so that you won't depend on me. " but that's not true. And, a driver who assumed that the car was keeping its promise, as it does most all the time--might not have realized that it wasn't until they hit the car in front of them.
My vcs light, abs, brake, traction control light is on. Plus a horrible buzzing noise always on. Brakes are hard to press down on. It happened when we were driving it.
