The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Highlander. While driving approximately 45 mph, the battery indicator light illuminated and the power steering failed suddenly. 4 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2009 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 09/05/2013

About eighty miles/two days prior to the failure, an intermittant whine/humming noise was heard in the vicinty of the driver side dash area while turning at slow speeds. I was told this was not unusual as the power steering is electrically assisted and the electric motor was likely making the noise. Two days after the first sounds, the power steering failed upon engine start. The steering wheel is nearly impossible to turn now.

5 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2008 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 05/06/2011

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Highlander. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering failed and the steering wheel began abnormally moving from left to right independently. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised him that the power steering control module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired for the power steering control module.
