38 Suspension problem of the 2014 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 03/07/2014

2014 Toyota Highlander limited has begun making noise when traveling relatively slow (<30mph) on a normal road. When there's a very minor bump, a squeaky sound will come from the rear. It's not so noticeable on the freeway (perhaps fewer vibrations and/or the the wind noise overpowers it). Upon further investigation (riding in the back and listening for the source), it's coming from the rear-hatch door/car gap near the bottom corners. It sounds like the the powered hatch isn't fully tight and the weatherstrip is rubbing. However, the door doesn't feel or appear loose at all.

42 Suspension problem of the 2006 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 11/10/2011

I brought 2006-1007 Highlander hybrid vehicle in 2005 from the beginning I am having difficulties with the steering I told dealer multiple times, Toyota company multiple times about the steering problem. As soon as I drive above 25 mph my car pulls towards right very badly I have to apply lot of pressure on the steering to put on the road. Due to this I spent 1000s of dollars to do wheel alignment and steering check due to this I spent 1000s of dollars on my tires I have to change my tires every two years even though the manufacturer gives warranty for 6 years 65k miles.

43 Suspension problem of the 2009 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 05/12/2011

2009 Toyota Highlander clearance between both rear "shock base plate" and both rear tires are too close. Every time when you hit a "bump", both rear tires are hitting the "rear shock base plate". This will damage both rear tires and cause accident !! defective engineering design !! Toyota should recall all Highlanders with this defective design !!! you don't want to wait for an accident to happen then make a mandatory recall. Thanks for reading my message and concern of safety for all Highlander owners.

45 Suspension problem of the 2006 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 02/27/2010

I have vibration in front two wheels on my Toyota 2006 Highlander. I have replaced the tires, rims, and two alignments, still the same problem before and after. The left rear tire put to the left when changing lanes. The problem always there. The vehicle does go in a straight line, so the alignment is not a question. I can feel the vibration in the steering wheel. My local Toyota dealership tech road tested the vehicle with me felt the same vibration. The vibration starts around 55 mph and increases as the vehicle goes fast. When slowing down, the SUV will wobble. The dealership tech physically inspected the vehicle and found no problem. The agency wrote the ticket as no problems found. What shall I do?.

46 Suspension problem of the 2008 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 06/11/2009

I own a 2008 Toyota Highlander all wheel drive and have a problem with the car's alignment. My mechanic said it is a defect that cannot be fixed and is a safety danger. When my car had 3,000 my mechanic said the tires were shredding. When he checked my alignment he said it was off but whenhe tried to correct it he said it was impossible to fix and it is a defect. I took the car to the Toyota dealer and was told they would fix it. When I picked up the car they said it was realigned but could not get it to the recommended alignment but it was not a safety issue. I took the car back again to have it realigned and the same result that it could not be realigned to company specs but Toyota told me the misalignment is not a safety danger. My mechanic said it is a danger so I brought it back to Toyota to complain. Toyota said there is nothing they can do so I should just live with it. I am furious and am concerned about the safety of my car. Will you please help me. I am aware of other owners with alignment problems with the all wheel drive models. Thank you.

48 Suspension problem of the 2001 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 12/12/2003

When driving my Toyota Highlander on the highway with the windows rolled down, a piercing high pitch sound elevates and hurts your ear that you cannot hear anything (practically deaf). I've informed Toyota customer assistance center (chad) about this problem in January 2003, they claimed there is nothing they can do about it. One of the mechanics at Toyota service center, stated that he had complaints from other consumers and apparently this problem is with all their SUV. I've also asked several of our friends (highlander owners) to test drive their vehicles with their windows rolled down and they've also experienced the same problem. We basically purchased a vehicle that you cannot be rolled down the window when driving.
