At 2000 miles we noticed our wheels pitting. We thought this was unusual as our wheels were plastic coated called crometech. We were at the dealers and mentioned that our car had only 2000 miles and shouldn't be having this problem. Our car now has 7070miles yes seven thousand miles and they won't do anything for us. My wife and I are in our 80's and they are are takeing advantage of us because we're old. They want us to pay for new wheels $750. . Each.

2008 Toyota Highlander involved in a rear/side crash sitting still; hit by other vehicle at 60 mph; 3 occupants inside vehicle all injured; no airbags deployed in vehicle at time of crash; if airbags only are to deploy on a frontal impact crash what good r they in other crashes to help the occupants of the vehicle?.

This vehicle has an electrical problem, most mechanic shops I took it were not able to find out the nature of the problem. I've changed the battery twice and still experiencing the same problem. At the high way I noticed the that the temperature of the engine gets high, which obliged to drive in a much lower speed with the flashers on which always increases the traffic safety risks.

Driving down the freeway the rear passenger wheel locked up. Had to cut across two lanes of traffic to the side. The wheel still totally locked when it had to be dragged onto a flat bed. Luckily there was no injuries. Still not 100% sure or what's wrong but guessing it has something to do with the traction/abs control system. They really should look into a recall because this seems to be a common issue.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Toyota Highlander. The contact stated the right front and left rear wheels were bent and all four wheels had corroded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician recommended for the wheels to be rotated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,915. Pam.
When going around curves at varying speeds, traction control light comes on and wheels shake. Happens once or twice a week. Happens when roads completely dry. Seems like a flaw and I'm worried of catastrophic failure while driving.

The car began to shake and was uncontrollable. Managed to pull over and upon inspection found that all of the lug nuts on both front tires were very loose. The car was serviced by greentree Toyota greentree scion commerce drive, brookfield CT the day before and a tire rotation service was requested. The lug nuts were loosened but never tightened back up.
I was driving on I-35 and has to stop at the shoulder for about 30 seconds to fix something. The shoulder is smooth and newly paved. Then I went on driving again, minutes late, the tire low air indicator was on and a few more minutes later, the left front tire was totally flat. The tire has only 7500 miles on it and was told by Toyota dealer that I need to purchase a new one. And there is no warranty on it since it is from a new car and I did not purchase their extended coverage. I think it is quality of the tire used and I saw tons of same complaints from other Toyota Highlander owners.

Bridgestone deuler h/l 400 tires had poor tread life and were very poor in any amount of snow. Rain also resulted in hydro planning.
I only have 7k miles in my car I own the car for only 1 year. I notice that the steering wheel is not balance at all. At least 5-10 degree to the right. I have my car service every 6 months with Toyota it should be balanced and done the tire rotation???
also the transmission occasionally stall about 1-2 second when I accelerate to 30-40 mph. I am afraid that the transmission will have problem within this 2-3 years. Like Honda transmission failure on odyssey.

The flares that are attached to the fenders keep coming off while driving. They have come off four times now and pose a safety threat to me and others on the highway. I currently have three flares taped to the vehicle to prevent their coming off while driving. If these flares come off it is possible they could hit other vehicles on the highway posing a threat to their safety.

I brought 2006-1007 Highlander hybrid vehicle in 2005 from the beginning I am having difficulties with the steering I told dealer multiple times, Toyota company multiple times about the steering problem. As soon as I drive above 25 mph my car pulls towards right very badly I have to apply lot of pressure on the steering to put on the road. Due to this I spent 1000s of dollars to do wheel alignment and steering check
due to this I spent 1000s of dollars on my tires I have to change my tires every two years even though the manufacturer gives warranty for 6 years 65k miles.

Our car has 17,000. Miles and turns out the tires are bare in spots and the car hydroplaned and skidded and would not hold the road in a light snowstorm. We often skidded right into oncoming traffic. We have driven many suvs over the years -we are 69- and never had a problem. Toyota emailed to us that the toyo a20 p245/55r19 open country tires the car came with are not meant for driving in snow. We live in vt and the car was sold to us as an all wheel drive car for driving in snow. I have looked at the internet and others have had the same problem with these tires. I feel there should be a recall on them before someone is killed. My son just purchase a new Highlander and I worry his tires are the same.
This strut attaches to the rear axle and prevents it from moving forward. It rusted out and was bouncing on the road and hitting the car and rear tire. I had to stop and get it repaired immediately for fear of damaging the tire or car. Upon mechanic making repair the other strut on the opposite side of the car fell off in his hand. If both strut had failed there would have been nothing to stop the rear axle from moving forward and causing a castrophe accident. Or if the bouncing strut lodge in the rear tire the same could have been true. The new replacement parts look inadequate for such a critical component. Should not have happened in under 10 years. Car get washed once ever two weeks. From my perspective part looks the metal bracket at the end of the rod is way to thin for this critical component. Part #48780-4802012398.

The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Highlander. While driving approximately 35 mph the contact smelled a burning odor. The vehicle began to vibrate causing the contact to stop the vehicle on the shoulder of the road. The contact noticed the rear passenger side tire appeared to have small holes in it and was extremely worn. The contact replaced the tire with the spare tire and drove the vehicle to the dealer. The technicians stated the failure may have occurred due to excessive temperatures. The contact stated the wheel may be defective and caused the tire to wear excessively. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
Caps keep falling off of the lug nuts, which exposes the studs of the wheel hub. Corrosion forms and causes the lug nut to be difficult to remove. Additionally, exposure of the stud can weaken the joint. I replaced two lug nuts yesterday, brining the total to five in the past six months.
I purchased a 2010 Toyota Highlander from fredericksburg, virginia location. The vehicle rode smooth until I had its first serviced at Toyota. The vehicle rode like a Jeep, rock and rolling, at normal driving speed and highly at low speed. All this started after the first vehicle service. I traded in my 2006 for 2010 and it had the same problem. For the 2006, I purchased new rims, tires, lugs, wheel balancing and full front end alignment. The vehicle still rode the same rocking and rolling. In the past, I have work as system engineer on a military project. The vehicle had problems with its tracks, the problem the lugs not being adjusted the same on each wheel resulting in track breaking or damage. The same for any vehicle that has lugs and wheel. Back to my 2010, bottom line is each wheel must be torque the same. If each wheel is torque different or each tug, than the vehicle will have a rocking and rolling affect. All vehicle service says, it’s the wheel, but no one ever torque the lugs resulting in the same rock and rolling affect. Understanding the basics of lug adjustment can save customers, money, time and easy fit. Lorenzo e johnson spotsylvania, virginia.
Complainant had to replace the original bridgestone tires (245/55r19) on a 2009 Toyota Highlander ltd after 20,679 miles. Tread wear was below 3/32's. Toyota would not warrant or participate in the replacement costs. Bridgestone offered to split the cost of replacing the four tires with their dueler h/l (p245/55r19) which I accepted on April 20, 2010. My cost was $491. 32. The replacement tires after 9 months and 17,011 miles have 5/32's wear. However, with that tire wear, the Highlander is unsafe to drive when there is frost/snow/rain/ice on the road. The vehicle looses traction and is uncontrollable as it slides through intersections. Again, the Toyota dealership refused to warrant or participate in the tire replacement costs. Bridgestone has offered to split the cost to replace the tires. This would amount to an additional $500 (est. ) to replace tires that do not wear properly. How can payments of approximately $1,000 for eight tires that provide premature and unsafe tire wear be justified? the vehicle in its current condition, is a hazard on the road and unsafe to drive. Tire wear is premature. The Highlander should be recalled for a free four wheel tire replacement and alignment.
Basics are the wheel on my 2006 innova split inhalf while driving down the road at 25kph. Innova was maintaned by Toyota so improper wheel installation would also be their problem. This wheel was recalled in vietnam around Dec. 2009, a mechanic at Toyota of philippines has told me Toyota knew of the bad philippine wheels but they could not track them and same wheels may be in the USA! for a longer story as to what has happened and what Toyota has not done can be found on my old site. . 2007 Highlander wheels are rusting so bad that 2 of 4 tires are losing air pressure. This 2007 was purchased new from Toyota. We had previously purchased a 2002 Highlander with the exact same issue. I search online and see other people have had same issue with Toyota wheels. Wheels should not rust this bad in this short a period of time and mileage. Luckily we had no safety issue because I monitor our vehicles closely. Low tire pressure could definitely cause a safety concern for people who do not monitor their cars as closely as I do. I feel Toyota has a quality and a safety issue with these wheels.
2004 Highlander, having same problems as all other reported problems for this vehicle. Hesitation, steering shaft replacement, 2 wheel bearing replacements, lousy original tires, bad sodering of heat/air board leading to not working properly, can not have back windows down due to noise and vehicle shaking, had rear wiper motor replaced within 1st month of ownership. While I did purchase the extended warranty, which did cover the cost of the wheel bearing replacement, it did not cover the cost of having to replace the tires damaged by the bad bearing - and Toyota does not care. In their race to become the number one car maker, they have given up on being the safest, most reliable car maker - and they have certainly given up on being customer friendly. According to several Toyota dealers, they don't have to, since they continue to be popular selling vehicles. I am getting nervous as the time for my warranty comes due to expire - and for the first time am seriously considering trading it in before that happens. That was not the intent when I bought the vehicle, but after reading all the people having all the same problems, I am very concerned.

2003 Toyota Highlander 4. 0 have had serious problems with the brakes on this vehicle since I purchased it due to Toyota originally installing brakes that are too small for the size of this vehicle. Trying to get it to a stop is a problem and the brakes fail alot as well as the fact that they destroy the oem rotors and pads and I have replaced the pads several times as well as had the rotors turned twice and now need to replace all 4 rotors and pads due to this something really needs to be done to fix this issue per Toyota.
