1 Underbody Shield problem of the 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser

Failure Date: 08/18/2012

Steel brake line running from the front to the rear of the vehicle along the driver's side frame rail rusted through near the front of the vehicle. Lost all braking, narrowly avoided a collision by swerving around a stopped vehicle and driving through an intersection where the traffic light turned red. This is the second steel hydraulic line that has rusted though on this vehicle. The first was the power steering cooler line.

2 Underbody Shield problem of the 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser

Failure Date: 02/18/2010

My 2000 Toyota landcruiser has experience excessive undercarriage rust similar to the tundra models reported. Recently the brakes on my vehicle failed due to brake lines rusting through. When we tried to apply the emergency brake, it did not stop the vehicle since it had rusted through as well and was inoperable. Fortunately we were not driving fast as we would have no way to stop the vehicle from crashing.
