2 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2003 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 05/15/2011

The contact owns a 2003 Toyota Matrix. The contact stated that the right rear door glass separated from the window regulator. The dealer and manufacturer were aware of the failure; however, did not provide any assistance since recall number: 08v162000 (visibility:glass, side/rear) only pertained to the front window. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current mileages were 134,868 and the failure mileages were 134,800.

3 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2004 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 08/14/2010

The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Matrix. While the contact was driving approximately 5 mph attempting to stop; the front driver side power window was activated, followed by a clunking and rattling noise. The vehicle had been previously repaired in December of 2008 under the NHTSA campaign id number 08v162000 (visibility:glass,side/rear). The contact stated the front driver's side window operated correctly before the recall remedy repair was performed on the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired for the most recent failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

4 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2004 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 07/02/2010

2004 Toyota Matrix. Consumer states driver side front window clanks whenever its lowered below half way, and makes a rubbing noise when it is raised the consumer stated he experienced the exact symptoms as described in the recall notice. The consumer took the vehicle to a local garage to have the problem diagnosed. After locating a recall, the repair shop called a local Toyota dealer. But, when they checked the vehicle identification number, it was discovered the consumers vehicle was not included in the recall.

5 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2005 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 12/24/2008

Driving at highway speed (60 mph) in wet conditions on interstate 5 just north of seattle. Suddenly, the sunroof exploded outward. No impact was noted. We have a rooftop box which covers most of the sunroof further reducing the likelihood of an impact directly on the sunroof glass.

6 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2004 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 10/08/2008

The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Matrix. In may of 2008, the vehicle was taken to the dealer to replace the window bolts according to NHTSA campaign id number 08v162000 (visibility: glass). On October 8, 2008, while driving 65 mph, the front driver's side window shattered. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and they stated that they would call the manufacturer to request additional repairs. The current and failure mileages were 33,000.

7 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2008 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 02/26/2008

Driving new Toyota Matrix (<400 miles) entering freeway, hear a pop behind driver. Car continues to drive fine. When stopped, noticed that entire rear quarter window glass is shattered. No evidence of having been hit by anything (highly improbable given circumstances of when pop was heard). No hole in window. By thwe next day shattered window glass is falling out of frame. Dealer notified , taking no action as yet. Rear passenger, if present, would have been endangered by the shattered glass.

8 Side/rear Glass problem of the 2003 Toyota Matrix

I notice an occasional popping noise when rolling up and down the windows on my 2003 Toyota Matrix. This concerns me, as I believe that the glass could ultimately shatter if this persists or gets any worse.

The contact owns a 2003 Toyota Matrix. While driving approximately 35 mph on normal road conditions, the front driver and passenger side power windows were activated and the contact heard a loud squeaking and rattling noise. In addition, the front driver's side window would not close completely when activated. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 08v162000 (visibility:glass, side/rear). The vehicle was repaired; however, the recall remedy has not corrected the issue. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage is 140,000. Updated 3/3/09 updated 03/04/jb.
