3 Wiper problem of the 2005 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 01/11/2016

Driver's window. My wife had just started her 2005 Toyota Matrix and put the window down. When she put it back up, the window suddenly rotated and started to slide down inside the door. I was able to manually pull the glass back into position. We tried putting it up a second time and the window tried to rotate down inside the door again. After realigning it and gently leaning on the glass, we were able to fully close the window. The car has 150,000 miles. This is the exact same issue that has occured in the '03 & '04 models, NHTSA # 08v162000.

4 Wiper problem of the 2004 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 12/12/2015

The driver's side window has made noise when lowered and raised since shortly after the time of purchase in 2004. In 2008, we heard about the recall on 2003-04 Matrix vehicles for defects with the front door glass bolt (we also have a 2003 corolla, and recognized that the problem described in the recall notice received for the corolla matched the problem we were having with the Matrix). We took our car in 2008 to the local Toyota distributor, where car was purchased new, but were told that the recall did not apply to our Matrix, because the Matrix VIN wasn't included in the recall. The noise when using the driver's side window continued to become more pronounced since 2008, and now the noise has become so loud that we are concerned the window will break if lowered. I've contacted the Toyota customer service center, and they say that there is nothing they can/will do, because the car's VIN indicates that it was not part of the recall. If we want Toyota to take a closer look at the problem to determine whether it might be due to a defective part, the customer service center said that we would have to pay Toyota for a diagnosis. The window makes the loud clunking sound at all times when being lowered, whether the car is in motion or stationary. The window noise has been present for at least 7 years, and has worsened over time. Since the symptoms match those described in the 2008 recall notice, it seems very likely that the window bolts on our 2004 Matrix are suffering from the same manufacturer's defect as described in that recall.

5 Wiper problem of the 2009 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 01/04/2015

The car has an unacceptable blind spot the side mirrors do not compensate for this. It resulted in me while backing up not seeing an elderly lady walking past my car, and I have had several close calls while backing out of spaces with cars behind me just in the blindspot or pedestrians. I am almost tempted to post a warning in back window. Perhaps a mirror insert would prevent this. Backing out while turned looking out rear you miss people in that spot. It is a hazzardous car to back up with.

7 Wiper problem of the 2008 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 12/12/2013

The front windshield wipers don't work correctly. Sometimes they remain on in high speed, sometimes slow. Sometimes they just stop. We have to take the fuse out to drive on clear days, as they will just come on when they feel like it. Also, the front washer fluid no longer works. In addition to those issues, the heat shield dropped while we were getting gas one day and rattles so loud it's unbearable. I had to wire it up.

8 Wiper problem of the 2003 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 01/03/2013

Three incidents - 2nd occurred in may 2014, 3rd in August 2014. Very large, clean cracks keep appearing in the same spots on the front windshield with no point of contact. They begin from the middle bottom of the windshield where the heat vents start and in a u-shape come out or at the top middle - behind rear view mirror - where heat vents start - like a smiley face to nearly the top of the windshield or a line down direct from middle of window. The first time it happened I was using the heater . The second time and 3rd time it was parked overnight but nothing was stolen, no other damage and nothing to indicate a point of contact such as a rock or sharp tool. Full cracks appear all at once - close to entire height of window and are not gradual. Replaced the windshield first time at my cost and need another replacement immediately as two large cracks are impairing visibility, take up the whole drivers side of the window and concerned for safety with upcoming road trip. Looking for another vehicle to buy as already had 2 other recalls with this vehicle. Need Toyota to replace 2nd windshield as this is clearly a manufacturers problem.

10 Wiper problem of the 2009 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 12/19/2012

I noticed that when making a left turn the front view of where you are turning is block. . . Worse when making u turn. . . . Because the left side mirror blocks the entire view. . . I was lucky enough that my nephew advise me to be careful with the pedestrians as I immediately hit the brakes and the saw the upset pedestrian give me a dirty look. I have since been very careful when turning and I raise my head up to look over the blocking mirrors. I believe this is a structural issue that needs to be corrected.

11 Wiper problem of the 2006 Toyota Matrix

Failure Date: 03/03/2008

After only 2 years of owning this vehicle the variable speed wiper arm quit working, only the variable speed feature does not work which tells me there is a problem with the quality of this part. This is not something I have ever heard of failing on a vehicle and certainly never after only 2 years. The vehicle did have a lot of miles on it and was out of warranty but in south texas we don't use wipers that often so this points to a quality control issue.
