Toyota Pickup owners have reported 9 problems related to equipment (under the equipment category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While checking out a broken leaf spring on my 1993 Toyota Pickup, I noticed some perforation on the frame near the front mount, and proceded to insert a finger to the area to see how bad it was. . . The frame is completely rotted in the whole area next to the gas tank and. By the leaf spring mounts on both sides. The truck is definitely not safe to drive. I'm 100 percent sure I could pull the leaf spring right out of the frame. Being an automotive technician for a dealer, I would like to inform NHTSA if they do not at least investigate these issues on the 1994 and below Toyota Pickups and force Toyota to open a safety recall I will be doing everything I can to get together a class action lawsuit. This is ridiculous that a truck with this low mileage rots the frame out. I've seen 1950s cars that have been overgrown with weeds for 10 years that don't have this bad of a rust issue. There are 1000s of Toyota Pickup owners not included in the 1995+ frame recalls that are in the same situation that have not reported here. I ask NHTSA to go ahead and just google it. There are currently 1000s of forum posts where people have had the frames split in half, break leafs off, and have been rebuilding and replacing or scrapping their vehicles over this. I want to see some action taken with these complaints.
Turn the wheele on my 1993 4x4started to back up heard a pop an lost my 4 wheele drive. So got out to look an the front frame broke, an my cv shaft pulled apart. I only have 164,635 miles wow come on Toyota that's crazy.
I've experienced ongoing issues with the crc application for the Toyota tundre frame rust issue since it was originally apllied. The first application failed after 1 day of use. The second application failed less than a year later. The third application, applied oct. 14 2013 has now failed. On October 15 Toyota informed me they would not honor the 12 month warranty as described on the paperwqork from the service department for any future issues with regards to the frame rust or their workmanship. However, I received a call from Toyota on October 28, 2013 in which they informed me the crc application that had previously been applied was determined to be defective but there was no solution to the problem at the time. They stated once a solution was determined the local dealership would contact me to resolve the issue. After not receiving a presponse from the local dealership I called Toyota on March 24, 2014 and was informed that an upgraded compound was released on Feb 14, 2014 and the dealerships were made aware of it on Feb. 27, 2014. The Toyota service representative informed me he would have the dealership contact me within 2 business days to apply the upgraded compound. The local delaership contacted me the next day and said he was not aware of a new solution and that he would call Toyota for more info. On March 25, 2014 Toyota caled me to inform me a case manger from Toyota would call me within the next day and assigned a new case number for the issue in question. The service manager called again on March 27, 2014 and said there was no new compound. A new representative from Toyota called on March 28, 2014 to inform me that Toyota would not be responsible for any additional work performed on the vehicle. When I asked about the previous statements from Toyota on October 28, 2013 and March 24, 2014 Toyota denied ever making those statements.

I came to a left turn with my tundra at approximately 50 mph and there was somebody waiting on the road I was approaching to turn on. There was also somebody coming towards me in oncoming lane. When I went to brake for the turn the pedal went completely to the floor and I pumped them quickly and every time they went to the floor. At that point I realized I would not make the corner and had to either hit the ditch or ride out oncoming lane shoulder. I chose the shoulder. When I came to a stop I realized I blew a front brake line(a steel line). Upon further inspection Toyota tundras have a load balancing system for the rear brakes. With this system there is a pro portioning valve mounted to the frame in the rear. There is also a linkage rod mounted to rear differential that actuates valve . This rod was rusted away inside a rubber boot attached to the valve and was not allowing any pressure to reach rear brakes so when I blew the front line I had absolutely no brakes! I repaired the brakes by removing the pro portioning valve and by passing it. When I called Toyota to make them aware of the potentially life threatening situation that could occur when this happens and got the response that a service tech did not confirm it so I can't prove it was their design failure! I was not looking for anything other than to make them aware of potential hazard and they seemed to care less they did not ask to see the valve or linkage or care to investigate any further than my explanation . A company with their safety history as of late should have shown a substantially large interest in finding out exactly what happened! and like I said they could have not have cared less !.

I have read there are hundreds of people having the same problems with the 1994 Toyota short bed pick up truck, 4wd, having extreme rusting to the frame. Yet they will only buy back the 1995-2000 models? how can they think that they did something right in 94 that they didn't do in 95, and nothing can be done about this? no one can change this to include the 1994s? my husband's truck doesn't even sit level from all the rust underneath. He is a welder and can't even fix it. Something needs to be done about this by Toyota. Everyone I know who has contacted Toyota said they are out of luck due to the buy back/recall being 1995 and newer models. Help!.
The gas pedal sticks when you are driving it you will have to continue to pump the gass pedal to gain speed.

Frame is extremely rusted on 1997 Toyota t100 Pickup. Balance of the vehicle is in excellent condition and has been very well maintained. Rusted frame has caused many of the connected parts to also rust and making basic repairs virtually impossible to fix. The suspension and braking system have been effected the most by the rust.

Severe rust perforation occurring in frame of vehicle ( 1993 Toyota pick-up) Toyota customer service informed me nothing could be done for this year of vehicle. ( complaint ref. No. 1001130208 filed with Toyota customer service on 1/21/10 ) ----program is in place for 1995 - 2005 trucks with same problem. Just wanted to inform the NHTSA that earlier model trucks are experiencing the same issues.
The frame has had excessive rusting around the rear suspension area for about 7-8 years. Repairs have had to be made to this area. Finally, toyata anounced a recall for this problem but it only goes back to 1995.
