Eight problems related to abs brake fail have been reported for the 2010 Toyota Prius. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Abs system fails, rear passenger seat belt issue, headlight bulbs burned too much.
Abs failed. Warning lights do not appear. Heard others have similar issue. Toyota will fix the abs only if the warning lights appear. Warning lights appear only when car is not on completely. Brakes went out with no warning at all. Brakes went out with no warning while driving. Light bulb leaks moisture has since purchase. Light bulbs blow frequently.
Abs actuator failed while driving vehicle on high speed city street. Loss of braking power noticed/observed. Actuator failure has been confirmed by Toyota dealer - car is currently being held for repair.
Warning lights : abs , brake , and anti-skid come on and stay one. Brake pedal is spongy and unresponsive. The error code reads out p1241 & c1391 which indicate brake booster pump failure. Abs brakes have failed.

My wife had a �near-death� experience on 22-Mar-18 while driving her Prius (2010) back home. She was driving on a high speed interstate freeway (I-10) in houston and suddenly her abs brake system failed and she can she all warning lights in the dashboard (abs warning light, brake system warning light, slip indicator) were lit. As soon as she saw these warning, she tried to slow down the vehicle safely by applying brakes, but brakes were barely responsive. At this time, she was driving at a speed around 65 mph. She kept pressing the brake pedals and slowly moved towards the shoulder area. After traveling for some distance, the vehicle stopped eventually. She called tow truck and took the car to Toyota dealership nearby. We are waiting for the response from the Toyota service center about the fault.
Abs brakes fail to engage when one of the front tires hits pot hole / slippery bumpy surface. The car surges forward during braking before braking resumes. The recall and fix toyoto impimented on my car on 2/15 did not address the issue, it only shortened to lag time (period of exceleration - surge forward). The issue still exists and is still a dangerous safety hazard. I reported this to the dealer in smithtown, NY who contacted Toyota factory and they advised the dealer, who advised me that the car operates as per specifiation. The dealer and the factory did not even look at my car! I demanded a work order which they gave me stating "car to be brought back after Toyota is contacted adn advises dealer on the condition". The next day the dealer called me to say totota advised the car is working as per spec. Toyota refuses to address this issue and the dealer will not look at the car. Brake failure - as I drive to work each day there is a place where I am turning onto a different road to get to work. As I approach the turn I brake to slow down and I always hit a bump in the road and/or a pothole close to the intersection. As I hit the area, my car shoots forward and it feels like I have lost my brakes. I can recover quickly by keeping my foot on the brake, but if I was closer to the intersection I could overshoot it and hit someone or someone could hit me. I mentioned it to the service manager when I got my first oil change at 5000 miles and he seemed very unconcerned and he said it was probably the abs brakes failing because the tire lost contact with the road. Well I also have a 2002 highlander and have never had the problem with this car.
