36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 04/19/2022

My mom was involved in an accident in her 2015 Toyota Prius on April 19, 2022, which she advised lurched forward at a stop and when applying the brakes to stop the vehicle, she said was unresponsive, causing her to clip a vehicle and sending her vehicle into a ditch totaling her car and injuring her passenger and her. I would like to have this investigated and hold Toyota responsible. This could have been much worse and lives could have been lost. She is now without means of transportation, and she is now possibly responsible for damages to property and bodily injury because of this. Through my research I have discovered multiple class action lawsuits brought against Toyota for the same exact models. I asked the police officer to run a scan on the computer, but he advised it was only for serious accidents. There was no indication of the problem or messages.

37 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 04/06/2022

So, long story short: for months now, the engine light goes on and off. Whenever it goes on, I go to autozone or o'reilly's to get the codes read. It's always the same code: p261b. So I got the coolant pump replaced. The same thing happens! I'd bet there is nothing wrong with the pump, so why am I getting that same code? I'll be happy to send it to you if you want to test it. . . .

38 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 03/31/2022

The catalytic converter was stolen off of the car and yes it is available for inspection upon request. I’m not sure of the safety risk, we drove the car one time and the engine light came on. The problem has not been reported to a dealer or independent service center. Once the incident happened one of our neighbors called the police and they came but they didn’t know which apartment we were in and out neighbor told us that it was our catalytic converter and the police waited for a few minutes and then they left. Our neighbor told us when they heard our car starting.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 03/30/2022

I was driving on the road and right before a stop light my car jumped as if someone hit me from behind. After looking in my rear view and seeing no one on me I realized something else happened. I look at my dash and check hybrid system light was on. I was in traffic at the light waiting and looked it up on my phone to find out what to do. Some article said to pull over and turn it off and restart it. The light turned green and traffic started moving so I started to drive. I thought I could probably make it home but the car started driving a lot slower than usual. I really didn’t want to pull over because it was in a bad part of town but I felt like I had no choice because the car was barely moving. It seemed more dangerous to be on the road with other drivers. So I pulled over and parked and tried starting it again. It wouldn’t shift to drive so now I’m stuck and can’t get home unless I pay to get my car towed. I get my car towed to the house. I put a meter on the battery and it was fine. I put a diagnostics tester on it and came up with these codes poa1a and poa94. I contacted hybrid mechanic that doesn’t work at Toyota and he said to take it in to a dealership and sent me the ze3 warranty letter and said they would fix it. I paid for it to be towed to the dealership. There were already a lot of cars waiting to be serviced when I got there. Anyway, they said they would fix it after they did their diagnostics after I paid $120 for it. That was 3/21/2022. I sent csr the ze3 letter and he said it wasn’t covered. It’s like he didn’t even read it. A day later he said he needed to talk to a warranty administrator then a day later he said it would be covered but I don’t qualify for a loaner but they can give me a rental for $45 a day. I friend let me borrow their car for a couple days. Now as of writing this it’s midnight 3/30/2022. I still don’t have my car and I’m about to be without a car unless I buy one or rent one. No eta on the part being delivered either. I’m sol.

40 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 03/18/2022

Traveling at freeway speed just after midnight, the "check engine" light came on. Less than one minute later, the "check hybrid system" alert came on, with an exclamation mark inside of a yellow triangle symbol displayed. The vehicle instantly had no power when the accelerator was depressed. The vehicle coasted to a stop and would not shift into drive. The vehicle was towed to our home. Upon delivering the vehicle to our home, the tow driver used an emergency battery jump start device and the vehicle was able to shift into drive and be driven into the garage. The 12 volt battery was replaced the next day and the vehicle no longer exhibited any disfunction. This was an unexpected event with no warning that the 12 volt battery was in need of replacement. It could have resulted in a serious collision, if the freeway had been more congested, as the vehicle had been immediately driven 2 lanes over to the nearest exit, and came to a stop just after exiting, safely at the side of the road. This is a very dangerous safety condition that should have had some type of alert that the simple 12 volt battery system was in danger of failing, causing a catastrophic failure of the engine and power train. Or, the car should simply not be able to drive, if the 12 volt battery is that low, to ensure passenger and community safety. Prime example: Toyota Prius has a warning alert that the key fob battery is low. The warning gives you a couple of weeks to replace the battery, and repeatedly displays the warning whenever you power up the vehicle.

41 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 02/22/2022

I brought the car to the Toyota dealer already 3 times for the same problem, now happened again, they told me the first time, nothing wrong with the car,and I paid them, the second time nothing wrong they said, the third time they said it’s the 12 v battery has to be replace it,I did replace it,but still the same problem I have, the hybrid system problems ,the Toyota company should fix it ,because it’s something very unsafe it’s happening with my car, please help me to resolve this problem…. . The car drive but stop anytime,I almost have a very bad accident with my daughter on board.

42 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 01/31/2022

Hi, I have a 2012 Toyota Prius with around 120k miles that is completely inoperable. A local Toyota dealership is charging $3400 to replace both computers, but the more I research the more apparent it becomes that this is directly linked with past issues that were never fully resolved during previous recall attempts. . 43 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 01/27/2022

My car stalled while I was driving it on 2 separate occasions. It is a 2014 w less than 70k miles: 1/2022 within seconds of 2 or more warning lights going on, the engine stalled. I was able to steer, brake and drive on the electric motor towards home. The electric motor drove another . 5 mile before it also died, leaving me with no power steering or brakes. I was on a slight incline and coasted most of the way off road. The car was towed to our local dealer, which said the intake manifold had failed. Dealer replaced im and related hoses and gaskets. 6/2022 I was driving on a busy interstate at high speed in the passing lane. The car started to lose power and decelerate. I maneuvered to the side of the road and up! the on ramp. Made it to roadside business on remaining battery power.

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 10/01/2021

Last week I check hybrid system message appeared on the screen and orange triangle with check engine light. I took it to the shop and they said that there are code p0a94 wich is related to the inverted and that is needed replacement. I saw that there was recall on inverter and want to see if I can get it replaced. Thanks.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 09/25/2021

As stated from 5 months after we bought it, and the first Prius, the car won't start. No matter if parked flat, keys in or out over night, or the temp, when the break is pushed it is squishy and makes draining noise and won't start. As a dr on call I have lost patients because I could not leave my house. I carry and use the charger daily ever since. Taken in lots. They say, "you don't drive enough. . Or some other bogus excuse, like don't leave keys in car, which is how Priuses start and run!. The car is driven in all ways a lot. Also we buy headlights and headlamps on both about every 2 months. Also it looses power and has shut off while driving. The worst is when it would start on its own in the locked garage. At that point my wife just quit driving all together. Nothing but nightmares. She almsot crashed on fw when power went out.

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 08/17/2021

We have been experiencing on multiple occasions car while driving will slow down, hybrid safety warning light on dashboard will turn on and tell us we have to go to a safe area and turn off car. The car will automatically shut down like a golf cart feeling. We have had near incidents were we have almost crashed. The car now will not go past 35 miles. We brought the car to a Toyota dealership because we noticed their was a software update recall. When we left the car repeated the warning again about 5 minutes leaving the dealership. The dealership has not helped us and refuses to fix car. We mentioned to them that there have been many complaints regarding the same issue.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 08/01/2021

1. This 2010 Prius has a faulty design of the piston rings, which is allowing it to burn more than 1. 4 qts of engine oil. 2. Such high consumption of engine oil causing an environmental pollution. 3. Furthermore, I took it to the local Toyota dealer I. E. Maguire Toyota located in ithaca, NY, they never chose to diagnose it or repair it. 4. I reached out to the Toyota and the Toyota still isn’t helpful w. R. T this high consumption of engine oil.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 06/15/2021

My 2009 Toyota Prius abruptly lost power while driving. The electrical system turned off and the vehicle stalled while going 50 mph on a 2-lane parkway. While I was able to put my hazard lights on and steer the vehicle, I had no other control and was at a high risk of a crash. There's no emergency lane and few areas wide enough to pull over on the parkway. I was forced to coast the vehicle until I could pull off the parkway onto a patch of grass off the busy road. There were no warnings, messages, or other symptoms of the problems prior to failure. I had plenty of gasoline in the tank, so it wasn't due to a lack of fuel. The car would not start after pulling over and I had to get towed. After researching the issue, it sounds very similar to the safety recall involving certain 2013-2015 model year Prius and 2014 – 2017 model year Prius v in the united states, the press release for which was published on June 24 2020: https://tinyurl. Com/4mrnz9nr furthermore, the los angeles times wrote an article on April 23 2018 about a similar issue, referring to a recall in 2014 which was intended to fix overheating problems in the 2010-204 Prius inverter. Those recall documents suggest that Toyota has been tracking this issue with the inverter since 2011. Https://tinyurl. Com/afwvt2sc a sudden power loss is generally considered a serious safety defect. I could have gotten into a serious car accident today and injured myself or other drivers. The 2009 Toyota Prius model had a recall issued on recall date: 11/14/2012 under NHTSA campaign 12v536000, referring to a "short circuit between coil wires and a possible open fuse, creating a stall-like condition of the hybrid system while the vehicle is being driven. This may increase the risk of a vehicle crash. " at this time, I don't believe Toyota has conducted due diligence into ensuring the safety of the 2009 Toyota Prius model. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer or insurance reps.

50 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/26/2021

When I looked up my car on kelly blue book for pricing, it said that it has been recalled as of 2020. I was not aware of this at all and could have got into a serious accident. I recently purchased a 2015 Toyota Prius hybrid in February and not even my saleswoman told me that it has been recalled. It has a sleuth of issues that came with it.

51 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/23/2021

I cannot add gas more than 3 to 4 gallons in the gas tank when it is almost empty. Gas meter says full after 3 to 4 gallons in the tank. While driving, it can run out of gas at any time because meter is not correct while adding gas at the gas pump, it spills the gas back out of the fill pipe of the car. So spilled fuel can catch fire if it touches the hot surface. Its fuel vapor management system is dangerous and defective which could result in fire and it could make the gas to fall on person legs and feet. Its gas tank has rubber bladder that has shrink making the meter totally wrong. If you search on the internet tons of people has the same problem. There is no way to tell how much gas is in the tank, while the meter could say full.

52 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/16/2021

While driving at highway speed on interstate 87 in new york, the 2010 Toyota Prius suddenly lost power while multiple warning lights on the dashboard illuminated, along with a "check hybrid system" notification. The engine would operate but at significantly reduced power. I drove it to an independent garage to identify the diagnostic trouble codes, which included p0a94 and p324e, an inverter problem with the hybrid battery and a problem with the intelligent power module. The currently is currently awaiting a confirm diagnosis at a Toyota dealership in new jersey, but the problem is exactly what thousands of other 2010 - 2014 Prius owners have reported, yet Toyota has yet to issue a recall to replace the inverter.

53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/05/2021

The vehicle was running and stopped at a stop light. When accelerating to proceed from the stop light the vehicle would barely accelerate no matter how far we pressed the gas pedal down. The engine was not revving faster it just appeared to stay in ev mode with very little acceleration. Finally after about 5-10 seconds the car starts accelerating. We are very concerned that if this occurs at a turn onto a busy road we could be in a position where we are stuck in the middle of oncoming cross traffic. This is very intermittent, maybe once or twice per summer (usually in the hotter times of the year). We've had the car at the dealership and both times they have said they found no problem. Searching on the internet this sounds like TSB-0241-17, which I have shared with the dealer but both times they have indicated they see no sign off a problem.

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/01/2021

Without warning my 2013 Prius c stalled on the freeway with a hybrid battery warning. When the car was shut off it had intermittent problems with starting. After jumping the car battery , it ran normally again for some time before the stalling problem persisted. The hybrid battery stopped running and I received a warning light. Diagnostics at my repair shop said it was an inverter issue. I see that Toyota has recalled several models for similar issues with the inverter. When the car is jumped it seems to work for a short time before stalling out again. Has created a real safety issue for me and there is a real lack of information on behalf of Toyota on whether or not it will be covered under existing models. It seems like every model Toyota from this year was recalled for an inverter issue. The car does run normally on occasion, charges the battery, and will run on ev, but mostly remains in a stalled out low power mode after it has these stalling episodes. E diagnostics have stated to me that the car batteries are healthy and I relplaced the 12v and several fuses etc throughout this process with similar results.

55 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 04/19/2021

My VIN number says its a 2008, it is a 2011, Prius my brake booster pump went out and locked my breaks. I ended up on side walk. Called dealer said it was dangerous to drive. It appears that there is a recall/class action. Costing me $1400. 00 for a new system. It was in motion.

56 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 03/20/2021

There seems to be a problem with the float in the gas tank. Once car gets down to empty, the fuel tank will only allow you to pump in 5 to 6 gallons of gas into the tank. We searched online and apparently a lot of people are having this issue but may not have reported it to NHTSA. Thanks.

57 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 03/12/2021

Hybird system malfunction. Car lost power and stalled where we cannot shift. That happened after driving the car home and later tried to start it in our driveway.

58 Other Fuel System problem of the 2021 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 02/26/2021

Carbon monoxide seeps into the passenger car but diller cannot find it and did not have tools to detect CO level in the car. I can't use this car because was poisoned many times and after a second check-up, the level of CO becomes higher so I can't drive the car without poisoning. Please help me. Recall no 20tb10/20ta10 done but problem with system wanting to shut off occurred on freeway at 55 mph.

60 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 11/10/2020

Check hybrid system light ignites, slows down vehicle in middle of high speed highway. First incident November of 2020 then several incidents after. Repair shops don't assure problem according to error codes & they recommend possibilities they cannot assure will resolve the problem. Car was taken into local dealership after receiving recall notice for software and airbags prior to November 2020 when the issue began. Software update took a couple of hours. Restart/reboot temporarily allowed driving again. Most recently the system entirely shut down & the car will not start or run. Abandoned car on side of the road and got heat exhaustion from walking the rest of the way home and had vehicle towed. Error lights come on including "check hybrid system" says "shift to p position when starting" and will not allow start.

61 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

Catalytic converter.

62 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 10/27/2020

While driving in interstate traffic the car lost power and would only go 11mph. When I got to a safe place to pull over the hybrid system showed failure and several other warning lights. The car had a previous recall for power management completed in 4/2019. This is an invertor failure.

63 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 09/28/2020

Car stalls while driving and and check hybrid system notification lights up on the dash.

64 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 09/25/2020

Car shakes badly when changing form electric to gas motor, started smoking in the back.

65 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 08/28/2020

It is having heavy miss fire which make the enging shaking too much many times.

66 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 08/18/2020

Car does not accelerate from a stop when pressing the gas petal while car is in drive. This seems to happen only in the summer months. While pulling up to a red light I slowed the car to a stop. When the light turned green I let my foot off the brake, car motioned forward a bit but when I pressed my foot on the gas petal the engine would rev but would not accelerate in any way. I put the car in reverse to try and get out of main road traffic but car continued to have no power. I then put the car into drive, put my foot on the gas petal and again, engine would rev but car would not accelerate. This is very dangerous as the car will roll forward when taking your foot off the brake, so you can roll into the middle of a highway before you realize there is no acceleration putting drivers at great risk of being t-boned while attempting to turn (especially left turns). I have taken the car to Toyota twice and service can not find any issues as no codes have shown up. The software was updated and issue occurred again after update.

67 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 06/17/2020

Sometimes when it is hot my Prius does not accelerate from a stop when the accelerator is pressed for 1 or more seconds; this makes it a death-trap on left turns. Toyota dealers have serviced it 3 times for this complaint with no resolution.

68 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/29/2020

We were driving in the city and after going on a slight incline road the car started to lose power. Noticed a few warning indicators came on on the dash then I lost the ability to accelerate the car so I had to pull over while it was slowing down. I restarted the car and was able to drive short distances till it completely lost the ability to drive due to lost of acceleration. Very scary situation and it seems like its due to their inverter issues they were trying to fix with a software update. If the shop confirms, its due to the inverter issues, not sure if id feel safe driving the car even if they replace the whole inverter assembly. It's our family car for road trips and I wouldn't feel comfortable until they find a solid fix for this issue. 3 recalls for the same issue? thats ridiculous.

69 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/28/2020

Vehicle shuttered and warning lights came on while driving on busy roadway. Was able to pull onto side street and stopped vehicle. Outside temperatures were over 100 deg f and my wife was alone with the vehicle. Attached mechanic estimate lists codes and indicates the inverter failed. We had the ecu updated in 2016 to avoid this failure but believe Toyota's ecu flash failed to fix the issue. Subsequent extended warranty did not cover this vehicle's VIN # according to Toyota dealership we contacted on 05/29/2020.

70 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/15/2020

105k milage. Driving on highway at about 45mph and car suddenly jerk and slowed to about 10/15mph. Lost electric power, able to only continue driving on gas 10/15mph. Toyota had to replace the following which they indicate was not under warrently which cost $2642. Transister kit, powe plue kit, inverter d grease super long life cool gasket.
