3 Seats problem of the 2018 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 09/28/2023

Someone rear-ended my Prius and they were driving a Ford 250 truck pulling a large flatbed truck that had a huge box on it. My seat went forward and backwards - I slammed my knee under the dashboard and then slammed by head into the headrest and I could not reach the pedals after this. I have repeatedly asked the collision center to look at it because there is nothing about it on the report of the estimate of repairs. My adult son was a passenger in the front and his seat didn't move.

6 Seats problem of the 2017 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/26/2022

The driver's side car seat automatic seat adjustment (backwards/forwards) failed all of a sudden with no warning. It was working when I parked the car to go into an office for an appointment. When I came back out to the car, it wouldn't work and was making strange noises. I called the dealer and they said to bring in the car to be looked at. This is a safety issue because it was hard to reach the pedal to drive the car without pillows pushing me forward in the car seat. The car was taken to the dealer twice and I was finally told that the track the car goes forward and backward on was worn out and the motor would need to be replaced. I was quoted $3k for the repair because the warranty had expired and the car seat needed to be removed to make the repairs.

9 Seats problem of the 2014 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 06/11/2020

Originally, Toyota issued a safety recall in 2014 to address the inverter defect in model years 2010 to 2014, an attempt to fix the problem on about 800,000 cars in the u. S. By modifying software that controls the hybrid electrical system. It was intended to fix the overheating problems. The inverter controls the power flowing between the battery and electrical motors. The inverter boosts the battery from 200 - 500 volts. They inspected my car saying it was in excellent condition. After, the software upgrade I had major problems. My original Prius battery with around 65,000 miles stopped holding a charge. My 12 volt battery also died shortly after. And my power outlets in my got super hot and spiratually worked off and on. And my driver seat gets hot when I turn on car even though seat button is off. I am sweating all the time. Plus, I have skin conditions and asma. I talked to dimitri, and they tried to charge me 1200for unnecessary repair. Also, failed to call NHTSA as promised.

12 Seats problem of the 2017 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 07/08/2018

Car has loud continuous creaking/squeaking noise from left rear of the car. Sounds like it is coming from the suspension or body flexing when driving. It occurs when turning and reversing out of parking spaces. Also happens when car is going uphill and downhill and on winding roads. Driver seat also squeaks when in a certain position. Squeaking/creaking from rear left side of the car can be dangerous if coming from the wheel area or suspension.

13 Seats problem of the 2010 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 01/12/2018

My 2010 Toyota Prius has leather seats and the passenger side light is coming on. According to Toyota recall there was a problem with the leather seats and calibration. The sensor on the passenger side is not communicating with the front airbag so when you sit down and buckle in it does not activate the front airbag. A seatbelt and airbag light is constantly on.

14 Seats problem of the 2017 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 10/18/2017

Even though this vehicle has nothing to do with this case, I consider that it is very relevant that I express my concerns with this vehicle due to the fact that I traded in my 2015 Toyota Prius for a vehicle that provided an unsafe driving experience to my family which was the 2017 Toyota Prius with VIN number jtdkarfu5h3532990 after taking it to three different Toyota dealerships to be evaluated by two different Toyota field inspectors from Toyota headquarters, Toyota motor vehicles made the choice not to listen to our concerns and rejected to take responsibility providing me a safety hazard product in order to avoid lemon law and/or make me aware of the high levels of emf that the vehicle had. On April 18 2019, we never were told by the second field inspector sent by Toyota headquarters the results of his findings. Big two Toyota took advantage of the situation and convinced us to trade in this vehicle for a new 2019 Toyota sienna.

16 Seats problem of the 2009 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Passenger seat sensor operates intermittently. Reported to dealer for repair, however dealer stated they could not reproduce the problem. However problem persists intermittently. This sounds exactly like the seat sensor problem for which a recall was issued for some 2009 Prius models (13v014000). Our Prius VIN was not included. Perhaps this recall should be expanded.

18 Seats problem of the 2016 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/10/2016

There is an ongoing issue with the head rests on this vehicle. The default setting is much too far forward, causing a forward head and neck posture, resulting in headaches, neck pain, etc. , and make it very uncomfortable to drive, and difficult to check blind spots. It also forces the driver's head very close the airbag, which is supposedly very dangerous. If you move the seat back, then you are too reclined to drive attentively. Online searches and complaints to the dealer tell me I'm not the only one complaining about this, and it is supposedly the result of NHTSA regulations. This is terrible if true.

23 Seats problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 03/12/2015

My wife was involved in a two car crash when a car coming in the opposite direction made an illegal left turn directly in front of her. It happened so quick that she never had time to hit her brakes. She was traveling between 30 and 35 mph in a 35 mph zone on a two lane road. I would think that at that speed if all her safety equipment worked she would not suffer any injuries. Her seat belt failed causing the seat latch to fail and she ended up jammed into the bottom and under side of the dashboard. She suffered a blow to her chest and injuries to her knees, lower legs and foot. She had surgery on her right knee so we could get her on her feet again and is awaiting surgery on her right shoulder. She had a pre existing heart condition that was raised to emergency status after the blow to her chest and she had surgery for that and they found a short circuit in the middle of her heart and zapped it. There is only a 2% chance it will ever return. I have pictures of the failed seat belt and seat. The seat belt is in the fully extended position and locked and can not be released even by yanking on it. I am writing this report so this situation can be checked and if found faulty can be corrected before any one else goes through what my wife is going through.

25 Seats problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 11/24/2014

I was driving down the interstate with my factory installed seat warmer on the driver's seat on. I got out at a gas station to go to the bathroom. When I sat down on the toilet I felt an excruciating pain on my left upper back side of the thigh. The car seat gave me second degree burns on the back of my upper left thigh. I went to the er the next morning when more blisters appeared so that the open and closed blisters could be cleaned and dressed. I was given a tetanus shot as well. I contacted Toyota the day after the incident after being seen by the er. I spoke with a claims adviser on Dec. 1, 2014 who asked me to email pictures of the driver's seat and pictures of my burns. I was then contacted Dec. 9, 2014 by Toyota to be told a Toyota inspector would inspect the vehicle on Dec. 18, 2014. The vehicle was inspected and I have not been given any information to date (12/31/14) nor has my vehicle been fixed. I am awaiting Toyota to contact me on the outcome of the inspection. The dealership told me I cold not have the seat warmer fixed until Toyota went through their process of documenting the incident due to me being injured.

28 Seats problem of the 2012 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 12/30/2011

The drivers seat does not raise far enough to allow shorter drivers to see over the dash board , base of windshield and rear of hood. This prevents shorter drivers from being able to see the the ground anywhere near the car. . Giving the drivers a 2 dimensional view of the traffic and objects between 3 and 5 feet high. Anything below 3 foot tall is not visible for 30 to 50 feet in front of the car. . The raised belt line is also causing this problem of 2 dimensional views verses 3 dimensional views. This is a serious safety issue. . It could be fixed with increased travel height for the drivers seat. . As I have had to offer several friend chair cushions to prop them up so they could see. . When I looked in the car. . I don't think do to the windshield angle. . That I being almost 6 foot tall could see the ground anywhere near the front of the car either. I don't fit in these cars. .

30 Seats problem of the 2007 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 03/10/2010

1. Wife is leary of driving our 2007 Toyota Prius because of problem brakes. We need a better description of what happens when we try to turn off the engine going 100 mph. 2. Lights are poor. We cannot see very far ahead in this deer infested environment. I have better lights on my 1997 Hyundai 3. One or the other headlight flickers and goes out for no understandable reason. We turn the lights off and turn them on again and it works ok. This could be a safety hazard. What is being done to fix it. 4. Seating. My first encounter with the Toyota complaint system cam about as I was trying to get the driver seat moved back because I have long legs. The dealer said they have no way of fixing this but that I should go to the after market. I asked if Toyota would accept an aftermarket solution. The dealer said that they will evaluate it after it is installed to tell us if it meets safety specifications no aftermarket supplier will try to fix this because they have not assurance that it will be accepted by Toyota. Yet Toyota gives no technical information about what is acceptable. I complained formally to the dealer and got nowhere. I then sent a formal complaint to national Toyota. They passed the complaint back to the dealer for response. For me this is a major flaw in the Toyota complaint handling system. They have a closed loop when it comes to complaints. 5. I like the car and it gets the mileage I expected. I am not sure I will ever get another Toyota if there are reasonable alternative that get good mileage.
