1 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem of the 2008 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 11/26/2011

I normally get about 450 miles out of one 11. 9 gallon tank. Recently, I discovered my fuel gage light going off at 300 miles. When I filled up my tank it only took 7 gallons, leaving 5 gallons that should have been in the tank. After filling it up, fuel gage light went off just below 300 miles. When I took my vehicle in for an oil change I asked about it thinking there was something wrong with my fuel sensor. I was advised by the clerk that it was the bladder, and to just keep it full-that¿s all. He gave other advise like make sure the tire pressure on my tires were good (they were rotated and checked a week prior to this), and to check my air filter. Now I am confused, and do not know how much fuel is actually in my tank. I have had my vehicle for 3 1/2 years and never had a problem till now.

2 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem of the 2007 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 04/02/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Prius. He tried to put gas in vehicle and found that he couldn't fit the gas nozzle down into the opening, stopping three inches short. When he did try to put the gas into the vehicle the automatic shutoff on the gas nozzle didn't work on the Prius. There was spillage when this happened on three different occasions using different gas companies. He contacted the dealership, and they had one of their department managers,go on a test drive with the contact, and he noticed the same problem that the gas nozzle didn't fit into the gas tank. He found in the door panel of the gas tank the instructions affecting the gas nozzle must be completely inserted so that spillage didn't occur. He spoke to Toyota manufacturer, and they informed the contact that there was nothing that could be done, and was given case number 200704181013, and they directed him to speak to NHTSA. The contact was informed that there couldn't be any repairs because it was a design issue. With 600 miles.

3 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem of the 2005 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 01/25/2006

Gasoline pump regularly shuts off several gallons short of full and will not allow continued filling without removing the nozzle from beyond the rubber seal. The only way to know when the tank is full is to watch and listen. Often when the tank approaches full and the nozzle is shut off the gas overflows from the tank spilling a cup or perhaps more of gas.
