The contact owned a 2006 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard a scraping and shuddering sound at the hood of the vehicle. The contact then stated that another vehicle noticed a spark underneath the vehicle and notified his wife. The contact’s wife was able to veer the vehicle off the road and exit the vehicle when the hood of the vehicle started to inflame. No warning lights was illuminated. No injuries were sustained. No medical attention was required. The fire department was notified and extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
