36 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2015

I was notified of a safety recall that began on September 11, 2015. In November I called the local Toyota dealer and they said they should have the part soon and I needed to wait for the second letter. 7 months later the upgraded windshield wiper system is still unavailable. It is unacceptable that when someone's life may be on the line they appear to be unwilling to try to fix a potentially life threatening manufacturer defect. I have driven in a couple rainstorms since and there was one incident late last year where my windshield was completely covered by water and I could not see through for a second. Thankfully there was next to no traffic on the road and I had no vehicles in my immediate vicinity. I was going into a turn on the freeway with several lanes around me.

Failure Date: 12/26/2013

When driving at temperatures below 32 degrees (freezing) the heating/cooling system does not work and the windshield and windows fog completely inside the vehicle. This creates an extremely dangerous visibility issue. The only way the vehicle can be driven in cold weather is if the defrost is on full blast with no heat on the feet. Even then, the rear windows are completely steamed up and the driver and front seat passenger windows are only partially clear. The vehicle has been in at least 7 times. If they have been unable to reproduce the problem they have been dismissive of the issue even though they have seen photos. When they have reproduced the problem they have not been able to identify a cause.
