Traction Control System problem #1

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the sound was coming from the tires. The contact was informed that no issues were found. Additionally, the contact stated that the check engine warning light, the traction control warning light, and an unknown warning light were illuminated. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.

Traction Control System problem #2

The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that the traction control warning light would illuminate upon starting the vehicle for the second time the same day. The contact stated that the warning light would turn off whenever he released the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not replicate the failure; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the front wheels were moving faster than the rear wheels. The dealer also informed the contact that the failure was due to a user error. The dealer stated that the contact could have the habit of depressing both the brake pedal and accelerator pedal at the same time while at a complete stop as the dtc codes showed that the vehicle was moving while at a complete stop. The dealer informed the contact that they could not assist with the repair of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 810.

Traction Control System problem #3

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Toyota Rav4. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle stalled. In addition, the traction control and charging system malfunction indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart and was taken to Toyota of hollywood (6000 hollywood blvd, hollywood CA, 323-498-2260) to be diagnosed. The results were unknown. The vehicle was being repaired under warranty. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 27,220.

Traction Control System problem #4

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Toyota Rav4. While driving approximately 30 mph, the 4-wheel drive, traction control, and the check engine indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to capitol Toyota (783 auto group Ave, ne, salem, oregon 97301) where the technician turned off the check engine indicator and performed an oil change; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 62,655.

Traction Control System problem #5

My 2007 6 cyl Rav4 has under 30k miles on it. Was fine and after sitting un-driven in my garage for 3 weeks, now the check engine light, vsc, and 4 wheel drive lights stay on. The transmission no longer shifts into overdrive (stays in 4th gear) at highway speeds. Random delayed acceleration when making slow speed turns (usually at intersections or passing in slow moving rush-hour traffic) resulting in sudden acceleration. No accident - yet. Have appointment to have the dealer look at it.

Traction Control System problem #6

An emergency stop from highway speeds (65 mph) on hot (85+f) dry pavement resulted in a significantly less than expected braking capacity. Best guess is that the traction control system throttled back available braking capacity. Brake pedal can be pushed to the floor at will but the traction control system takes over braking. The brakes cannot be immediately released and additional pressure (braking) cannot be applied.

Traction Control System problem #7

This is the third complaint I have had on my 2006 Rav4 v6 2wd emission system causing my vehicle stability, traction control, and speed control systems to fail. The first event is odi number 10268422. The second event was submitted also, but I did not get an email- hopefully is submitted. This third event was due to a mile of driving slowly in light snow causing a fuel evaporation filter to break a tube fitting off (second event). Water entered the broken tube and failed the fuel evap charcoal canister which in turn failed the other systems listed in this third event. After some wrangling, the dealer agreed to submit it to my extended warranty and it was covered in full.

Traction Control System problem #8

This is the second complaint I have had on my 2006 Rav4 v6 2wd emission system causing my vehicle stability, traction control, and speed control systems to fail. The first event is odi number 10268422. The second event was due to a mile of driving slowly in light snow causing a fuel evaporation filter to break a tube fitting off. Water entered the broken tube and failed the fuel evap charcoal canister which in turn failed the vehicle stability, traction control, and speed control systems (odi number 10268424). I see no reason to tie emissions into safety systems such as these unless it is to "encourage" owners to bring their vehicles in for emissions service. After some wrangling, the dealer agreed to submit it to my extended warranty and it was covered in full. I was told the charcoal cannister would have cost me $700.

Traction Control System problem #9

2/25/08 instance #1: I have had three instances of emissions components on my 2006 2wd Rav4 v6 being damaged in the 65000 miles I have driven it. The first instance manifested itself when the vehicle stability control, traction control and cruise control systems shut-off and lights in the instrument cluster came on. A damaged "charcoal canister" was replaced at the dealer under my extended warranty on 2/25/08. (this occurred a second time on 3/19/09 after an evaporation filter was damaged on 3/3/09 after driving a mile in less than an inch of wet snow. Each event shut off the vehicle stability control, traction control and cruise control systems and the associated system lights in the instrument cluster came on. The dealer felt the damage was due to my operation of the vehicle and at first denied submitting it to my extended warranty. I insisted the part was defective to fail in these circumstances and they eventually covered all repairs. ).
