6 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2011 Toyota Scion Tc

Failure Date: 08/26/2011

I was driving west on highway 160 toward my home, when a buck (deer), ran out into the road. I swerved to miss it and then hit a tree head on. I hit the brakes at around 45 miles per hour. The car collided into the tree head on. The force from the crash made me hit my head against the steering wheel two times. My head, neck, and back hurt instantly. None of the airbags deployed at all. I have witnesses who stopped and called 911. When the fire department, ems, and police got to the wreck they said they could not believe the airbags did not deploy. The whole front end of my car was smashed in. I was then taken to the hospital. I have a severe concussion and the trauma caused my brain the collide with my skull, bouncing it from one side to the other. I stayed in the hospital for almost two weeks and am now in southern indiana rehab hospital having to have physical therapy. There was over $8,000 in damage to the front end of the car. The damages to myself and to the car proves that the impact from the collision should have deployed the airbags. When we bought this car, the sales guy kept telling us how safe the car was and about the five star rating. I wanted a safe car and felt good about buying the car. I only had it for about 3 1/2 months before the wreck occurred. There were only 5112 miles on the car. Something needs to be done about the airbags. I am still dealing with the effects from this wreck today. Please help! I do not want this to happen to anyone else.

7 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2006 Toyota Scion Tc

Failure Date: 08/19/2011

I was driving up spruce street in manchester nh. As I went through a green light at the corner of spruce st and beech st, I was involved in an accident that I was not at fault for, by someone who was not paying attention and went through a red light, as I was going through my green light. I was hit very hard (all the impact was to the front of my vehicle) and I am thankful I had my seat belt on because my airbags did not deploy. The damage to the front end of my vehicle was so bad my car was almost totaled ($7,200 in repairs). I was told by the collision center that "there are many factors that go into the air bags deploying and not deploying" I almost felt as though I was brushed off for something that could have caused me my life. There still has not been anything done with my airbags, I was only told that they "should" be fine.

Failure Date: 02/03/2011

Our daughters 2005 Scion Tc was in an accident that was a head on collision she lost control on black ice and hit a pole. Her car has been deemed totaled by the insurance and body shop due to the severe damage to the car. She has numerous injuries from this accident and the air bags not deploying. It is very strange when I called Toyota they claim there are no recalls for airbags which I see in fact there is by this website. They also state that the airbags would not deploy in this type of accident , with her hitting the pole direct and the car being totaled because of the damage how can they say this? they have not even seen the car and over the phone they are stating the airbags would not go off in this type of accident. Sounds like Toyota needs to get their facts straight. Thank god my daughter is still here, she had an angel looking after her that night because it certainly was not Toyota.

17 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2005 Toyota Scion Tc

Failure Date: 12/02/2009

Hi, I was involved in a car accident December 2, 2009. I own a Scion Tc 2005 model. I was traveling on highway 440 outer beltline near ext 7 glenwood avenue. It was raining heavily at approximately 6:30pm when I hit a puddle in the left far lane and began hydroplaning, I hit the car next to me on my passenger side and started spinning approximately 4-5 times and hit the cement barrier on the bridge of crabtree creek. I hit the barrier head on and the spun around again and hit the back drivers side on the cement as well. My car ended against the cement barrier on the far right side of the road facing the wrong direction. My complaint is that my airbags never deployed. Luckily I was not severely injured but hitting head on it is my opinion and that of the owner of the collision repair shop that my car was brought to, that the air bags should have deployed for safety reasons. I was driving at a speed of approximately 50 miles per hour, no more then 55. I have done research that shows it only take speeds of 8-14 mph that the air bags should go off at a sudden deceleration, and I was certainly going faster then that. There were a few recalls on the airbags on my make and model of vehicle but these were mostly pertaining to the side and knee bags. I have filed a claim with the Toyota/scion customer service representatives and sent them pictures and I do have a case number with them. The dot people that came to the site of the crash had mentioned that this site of road is being investigated for previous accidents.

20 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Toyota Scion Tc

Failure Date: 01/10/2008

My daughter had a new 2008 Toyota scion, less then 3,000 miles when she was hit by a semi - front drivers side. Her airbags did not deploy on either side -- even though her lights indicated that they did deploy. Her seatbelt did not lock and hold her in place. She came up and out of the shoulder harness and hit her head on the roof and top part of the window. Toyota held up the repairs for several weeks, failed to show when they promised to send an investigator to the Toyota body shop. Refused to send copy of the report and claimed that nothing was wrong. They even said she probably came out of the seatbelt and hit her head after the wreck when she unbuckled her belt! the car is now repaired , over $10,000 and she's very concerned about the safety of her and her passengers in the future. Neither the dealer or the manufacturer will give her answers.
