I have newish wheels and tires. Last year I took my car into les schawb to get an alignment done on my car thinking that is what the problem was. The guy afterwards told me he fixed it as well as he could but wondered if I had hit something in the back and that's all he told me. My steering wheel shakes back and fourth rapidly when I am coming to a stop. My car can not drive straight at all either while I'm on the rode. It will pull to the left so I turn it the opposite way just a tiny bit and it pulls my car the other way very hard and it is very scary and dangerous to drive.

I have a Toyota Scion Tc and it has been consuming oil every 1200 miles now it's even less my engine almost started to lock up because there was no air on I did the oil consumption test they said I passed on my paperwork it has them adding oil and I only drove 1100 miles that's not normal they're telling me they cannot fix my car and the next test I take is going to be in six months so I have to add a quart of oil for every thousand miles.

My husband and I were driving down a town road in our community on cape cod on a clear day. Suddenly we heard what sounded like a gun shot. It scared the living daylights out of us because it was so loud, like an explosion. We pulled over into a parking lot to investigate what had happened. The sunroof of the car had completely exploded with shattered glass streaming off the back of the car. Thankfully, we had the canvas part of the sunroof closed. If left open, we would have had glass coming down onto our heads and laps. This, for sure, could have caused an accident. The sound alone, was terrifying! it seemed to explode outward, and there was nothing that seemed to hit the roof. I did some investigating about tempered glass and realized that it is not so rare of an occurrence for this to happen because of the inclusions of nickel sulfide often found in tempered glass. It seems that nobody at our dealership has ever heard about this. It appears, after investigating cases online, that it has happened more often than anyone realizes. It is truly a hazard. What can be done? if you like vehicles with sunroofs, don't drive with the canvas open unless you completely open the sunroof to the air. Or, don't buy another vehicle with a sunroof. Or, change the way sunroofs are made???.

I purchased my scion from my local dealership in Feb of 2015. On the 17th of March when coming to a stop the driver seat moved forward on its own. The seat had became unlatched from the seat runner under the driver seat. I had to adjust the seat and made sure that it locked into place. Since then this problem has happened over and over. I would say at least 40 times. The seat will not lock into place when you slide the seat forward or move it to place items behind it as well. It will lock on one side of the seat runner at times and I have to adjust it each time. This problem can be a safely issue when braking hard or in a accident as well. I have seen recalls on this problem with other models of this auto. I talk to my local Toyota dealership about the problem but they say there is no recall or repair bulletin on my model at this time.

We own a 2008 Scion Tc and in the winter this car gets excessive snow and ice build up in the wheel wells and this becomes a safety issue when trying to turn. I am wondering if there has been any recalls for this car for this issue, the plastic used in the wheel wells seems to hold the snow and ice rather then falling off. Is their anything that you know of that could be done to remedy this issue? I have spoke with other scion owners and they have the same problem. Please reply with any suggestions or if their is a recall for this problem. Thank you,.
I was driving along government st, the streets downtown needs major repairs. But I didn't hit a bump in the road or nothing to cause my glass to break. I didn't even hear anything hit my glass I had the sunroof open with my little brother and dog in the car when glass begin to fall on us.

P043e, po444f, p2401,p2402,p2419 codes charcoal canister assembly failed seems to be a very common problem with this particular Toyota model and Toyota should pay for the replacement. Faulty equipment expensive to replace. Want Toyota to replace these parts / TSB notice.
Driving down the road pretty much in the middle of nowhere in colorado, clear blue sky, no traffic and my sunroof deflector spontaneously shattered into a million pieces. No impact, no nothing! temperature around 65 degrees, no weather. Taking it to dealer upon return as I was 200 miles away from home when it happened. Unknown if scion/Toyota will cover replacement. . . It's obviously defective!.
As traveling down the freeway on way to work, I heard a sound that was similar to a gunshot or explosion of some kind. Glass started to fly in my face and all over the car barely missing my eye. It cut my arm and hand. The injury was not serious, my wife said if she had been driving she probably would have crashed when it happened. When I got home I called the both the dealership that sold me the car and Toyota headquarters in torrance. They asked me what I wanted and I said I just want it fixed they told me they would give me a good price to fix it, but it is not covered under any warranty. John got back to me a few days later and said that I could take it down to the dealership and have it fixed, pay for it myself and then Toyota would think about it. That's not acceptable. I work hard for my money and trust that a cars moonroof isn't going to explode while I'm driving it. From the other complaints, this doesn't seem to be a rare occurance. If a piece of glass had landed in my eye, I would have surely gone blind.
I was driving on the highway at approximately 65mph with my sunroof in the slightly lifted position only and all other windows closed. Out of nowhere there was a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot and we saw shattered glass from my sunroof flying out first and then shattering down onto myself, my adult passenger, her 1 year old daughter that was in her car seat in the back as well as on our two small dogs. When we pulled over and got out of the car, we had to shake glass from our clothing and hair as well as carefully remove it from our seats and all over everywhere else and then very carefully remove glass from covering the baby and the our dogs in the back seat. We are all lucky we were not injured from the flying glass. We then had to carefully remove the remaining loose chunks of glass from the roof so they wouldn't fall down on us and what remained was just the outer portion of the glass and a giant hole. This was a very scary incident and could have caused serious harm if the sudden noise caused me to swerve into something or another vehicle. Upon reading numerous reports, I have yet to see Toyota step up and make it right, but I intend to fight and get them to recall and fix the scion sunroofs!.

I was driving back from work going around 60 mph on the highway, and heard loud bang like a gunshot. First I thought that one of my tires has hit on something and exploded but then I felt something falling from the roof and I managed to pull over right away. When I got out of the car I saw my moon roof shattered in pieces. There wasn't any debrief on the road or any small rocks that could've hit the roof and shattered it. The bang was very loud and very disturbing and I hope this can be investigated and prevented in the future.
My daughter was able to purchase her dream car, a Scion Tc, a few months ago, and as she was returning home from oc, MD, on 18 Jul 13, she heard what sounded like a gunshot and saw something fly off her car so pulled over to discover her sunroof had exploded (sunroof was closed as it was hot and she was using ac). . . She was 1-1/2 hr away from home. As she tried to locate a vacuum cleaner to clean out the glass inside her car, she realized pieces of glass were breaking loose from her sunroof and flying behind so she pulled over again and literally had to wrap her sunroof in a towel to keep herself and other motorist safe. I contacted the dealership and they would not accept it as being defective. . . Claimed something had to have fallen and hit her sunroof for this to happen. Contact has been made to insurance for a claim, but after reading all the blogs, I will pursue Toyota to replace this at their cost as it seems to be a recurring issue with this vehicle. Primary buyers of these vehicles are the younger generation and it sickens me to know Toyota is not stepping up to the plate and recalling them to correct the problem and keep the drivers and surrounding motorist safe. I am on my second Toyota tacoma, have always deemed Toyota as economical and safe vehicles; however, depending on how this ordeal is handled, will determine how faithful of a customer I am in the future!.
Driver's sun visor will not stay in position against the roof of the car and falls at will, which is a hazard as it limits visibility, sometimes at the worst possible time. At times it merely stays in the lowest possible position, which makes certain driving maneuvers very difficult and dangerous - especially in bad weather. I know Toyota has a recall for this same issue on the camry, and I've been told by one of the service technicians that several other models have the same issue, but with no recall. It is obviously a problem with vehicles manufactured by Toyota.
I was simply trying to open my trunk when the latch handle broke off !.
For over a year I have noticed that my car has been consuming large amounts of oil. I noticed it when I still had 1,000 miles until my next oil change. My check engine light came on and I immediately went to advance auto parts to check the oil. I needed to put 3 and a half liters in because it was almost completely out. Scion tc's only hold 4 liters of oil. So my car burned up almost all of the oil and I had only driven 2,000 miles since my last oil change!! this is absurd, I bought my car brand new and have kept it serviced regularly and just paid it off! I should not be having this problem, but I've done my research and know that this is not an error on my part for not taking proper care of my car, it is a defect in the engine. I have a friend who services cars at Toyota and he said that the engine was built backward and that's why the oil consumption is very large. The only way to fix this is to rebuild the engine. I really am upset by this because like I said earlier I bought this brand new and have it paid off. I should not be having this issue, and since there is a defect in the way the engine was built I would hope that Toyota would recall this because it is not up to quality standard plus they need to take ownership of their mistake, and this is a big one that I shouldn't have to go into financial debt over.
I love my scion however I bought brand new from expressway Toyota in dorchester MA in 2005 and with all the recalls I see on here I've only done one, and that the glass windshield. Everyt other time I go the dealer and tell them that there are recalls, they ignore me and say that there isn't . I have some rattling noise going on under my car. . . I fixed once at the dealer and it came back again but now the dealer wants me to pay again to fix it and I think it's a safety concern in the car, the tires are also uneven, I keep having to change tires too often, the hatch lift in the back keeps breaking. . . Major failing and cheap. It feels like it was glued on. I would an answer from the dealer where I bought the car as to why they keep denying my visits on the recalls and why in being charge the same safety work that I've paid once to get fix and now the same rattling noise keeps coming. I never get any information in the mail from my dealer either informing me of these recalls. I guess they are refusing to fix them.
I was opening my trunk and the handle latch and light case fell right off. I am not a very strong individual so how this would happen to me completely stumps me. Since this incident I have noticed this exact problem on more and more Scion Tc's. I believe this is a structural body issue that the company should address.
I had someone run into the side of me when I took my vehicle into be repaired the body shop told me I had an extermly dangerous situation where the hood needs replaced. The body shop called it a striker. It has come unwelded from the actual hood. Unfortunately I do not have the money to replace the hood. I have checked online and found several complaints about this same situation. I believe scoin needs to fix this issue as it could result in a major crash if the hood were to fly up or off and I would kill myself or someone else. I have taken my vehicle in on schedule for maintenance and never was this mentioned to me.
I hit a deer and the hood busted, the battery busted and the radiator busted. Rocco's collision in turnersville lied, progressive in mount laurel lied, copart in trenton or glassboro got it from a a auto in sewell new jersey. These 4 places spun my car in a circle pretending to fix it, while they stole parts and pretended it was a total loss. It was less than 1000 dollars reported as $8500 in damage. I lost $17,000 and got paid $10,300. . . . They even stole the deductible and fixed nothing.
Traveling home from work when I felt something pop under the front of the car. The steering boomeranged to the left, I was not able to recover as it was like it was locked. Unable to turn the steering wheel back to the right, I applied the brakes which would not stop the car as it accelerated . The car crossed the center line into a residential yard hitting a tree head on. I ended up with facial, clavicle, rib, pelvis and hip fractures. The physicians say it will be a year before I will be able to work and I may end up with a permanent limp. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 072913 update: crash on June 5, 2012 resulted in permanent disability, foot drop, an "erector set" inside my leg/hip/pelvis, always wearing the leg brace, dealing with atrophy, pain/discomfort, losing the house, need handicapped accessible apt, finances suck, will always be paying the medical bills, can't go back to work (ever), have already become a burden to other taxpayers & the lawyer advised no successful tort was possible against Toyota scion because there was no other witness. . . (don't believe Toyota would care either way ! ). We got rid of the tundra for a ridgeline too. No Toyota products in our future - ever. Am not complaining though - am very happy to still be vertical.
Trunk broke off while opening vehicle. I am a 115lb female, seriously lacking the strength to break a well made car. Dealership refuses to fix defect without charge.
Pushed the cigarette lighter in doing 80 mph down the interstate. A few moments later it shot out of the plug and went flying through the car. Tested it later in parked position and it continues to launch hot lighter into car. Burned as a result of malfunction.
Driving down the highway at 65mph, the sunroof shattered without anything hitting it. Sunroof cover was closed preventing glass from coming into the cabin and preventing possible injury. After speaking with scion they are unwilling to cover repair costs sighting that it could have been debris from the road. Clearly, I have no proof except for the numerous other claims through NHTSA. Regardless, they have been less than helpful in rectifying the situations and solving the issue.
A/c failure of less than 2 yr old vehicle. Over $2,300 repair costs.
The door that covers the stereo head unit rattles and squeaks to no end whether it is open or closed. I first noticed the noise at 1,500 miles. 20,000 miles later it seems as if there is no remedy for this problem.
Paint peeling, chipping, undersurface "scratches" appearing in the paint. It seems Toyota has a bad batch of paint on thier scion line of vehicles, as I see that there are many more complaints of problems with defects in the paint.
In stop & go bumper-to-bumper traffic, my client took her foot off of the brake of 2005 Toyota scion xa, and car accelerated on its own. After crash, client could not shift car from drive into park position.
