2 Power Window problem of the 2005 Toyota Scion Xb

Failure Date: 09/10/2011

By 2011, both back windows inoperable (motor burned out due to electrical issues) and I am having issues with the air conditioning and electrical dash display. The dealer (avenues Toyota in jacksonville, FL) said there are no recalls and instructed me to call Toyota directly about the problem. The dealer wants to charge me $500 each to replace the motor in both back windows and claims there are no issues that they are aware of at this time. I found numerous claims on the internet to substantiate that this is not an isolated case and the electrical issues extend throughout the Toyota line during the time the vehicle was manufactured.

3 Power Window problem of the 2008 Toyota Scion Xb

Failure Date: 12/26/2009

Driving back from christmas break on December 26, 2009, my radio was playing at a normal volume at aboout 13, and there were no over-passes nor a vehicle within a mile in front or behind me and all of a sudden my sunroof to my 2008 scion tc explodes! it sounded like a gunshot went off right beside my head or a tractor trailor tire blowing beside me but again, nothing or nobody was around. Thankfully, my shade was pulled shut since it had just snowed a couple days before then and when it snows I always pull it shut; so it took me a minute to realize my sunroof was missing. Glass started coming in through the openings of the shade and the shade itself was blowing crazy since I was driving down the interstate it was catching wind. I pulled off to the side of the interstate to see the damage and the entire glass of my sunroof had completely shattered and there was a huge hole right in the middle where the glass had fallen into the car. I have a picture. Once I'd gotten off the interstate and contacted my parents to let them know what happened, I called the police but they said since there was no accident and no one was hurt that they didn't need to be contacted. I contacted my dealer to see if I could store my car over night since the dealership was only a mile away and they told me that this was not the first time a scion tc's sunroof has exploded. So once I got home I researched and sure enough there are several other cases of the exact same thing. I contacted scion and they did repair my vehicle for free but that is not the case. I could have been hurt. If my shade was not pulled I would have probably wrecked. I can no longer drive without my shade not being pulled with fear of the same thing happening again. Neither scion or shelor motormile of christiansburg, va could determine the cause of this accident. Scion diid apologize but told me the repairs would only be for one time. So if it happens again I'm stuck with a car and a busted sunroof.

4 Power Window problem of the 2006 Toyota Scion Xb

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

Rear power windows fail to operate. Safety hazard in hot climates. Toyota has acknowledged in a technical service bulletin, but repairs not covered except under 3 year/36k mile factory warranty. Suggest a recall to repair this safety hazard, especially in hot climates where children can be trapped in the vehicle if unable to operate the windows correctly.

5 Power Window problem of the 2006 Toyota Scion Xb

Failure Date: 06/14/2008

2006 Scion Xb, found windshield cracked after leaving the car parked. The crack was not there in the morning but in the afternoon, an l shaped, 4" by 10" crack starting from behind rear view mirror appeared, the car has 7700 miles this is a "weekend car" as it is parked in the garage in most of the time. Showed the crack to local scion dealer and they claim it was due to an impact from a pebble. They used a ball point to demonstrate that there is a pit. I am planning to replace the glass soon.
