Wiper Problems of Toyota Scion Xb

The front windshield cracked sitting in the driveway while the vehicle was not being used. Nothing hit it or happened to the car. It was just sitting in my driveway facing the sun. I had just been in the vehicle 15 minutes earlier getting something out of it and the windshield was fine. The next time I looked at it a crack developed at the top of the windshield behind the rear view mirror that branched out into two horizontal lines. Looking online this seems to be a very common problem with this year scion.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Scion Xb. The contact stated he noticed there was a fracture on the driver side windshield. There was no evidence of impact on the glass. The dealer was notified and offered no assistance. The manufacturer was notified and instructed him to make a complaint with NHTSA. The failure and current mileages were 22,000.

2005 Scion Xb windshield crack in the midline, between the wipers. For no apparent reason the crack continuously increasing length. Didn't hit anything nor it occured from some object. Bought this car used from the dealer and from the looks of it this windshield is not oem stock, might be replaced windshield and possibly this issue has occured before.

Toyota settled a class action lawsuit for 2006 Scion Xb windshields, but won't address other years. The windshields are defective and break. Here are my 2008 Scion Xb windshield problems for the record. In 09/2010 with 20,000 miles, my 1st windshield cracked and had to be replaced. In 05/2013 with 32,715 miles, my 2nd windshield cracked and had to be replaced. This makes my 3rd windshield. Both times a long odd "l" shaped crack, covered a large portion of the windshield. This made visibility and driving impossible and unsafe.

Out of no where; no trees, no trucks in front of me or any other vehicles, on a clear day, my windshield made a loud pop noise and it cracked from the top passenger side edge to the center of the windshield. It slowly creeped across to the mid-line of visibility on the driver side over the next 24 hrs. -- I was surprised to learn this is a common issue with this year and model!.

My Scion Xb developed an l-shaped crack in the front windshield, starting from the bottom of the passenger side (below the wipers), going up and to the left towards the driver side. The crack is about 6 inches long and it suddenly appeared with no apparent cause one morning.

Car was sitting still, had just started it. Heard a "pop" and my windshield was cracked. Scion xb 2008. I have been reading about numerous complaints with the l shaped crack going from the dash by the drivers wiper across to passenger side. No rock hit the windshield there.

Walked to car to drive to work at 0730 hours. Noticed "l" shaped crack in windshield beginning at the base of the windshield (passenger side) about 10" from the a pillar. Travels vertically to 3" above passenger wiper blade. Changes direction horizontally about 10" moving toward drivers a pillar. Outside air temp 53 degrees.

Had vehicle for a year when my windshield cracked for the first time. A year later another crack appeared. I did research and it seems like this model in particular had windshield problems and continuously cracked easily. I believe this is a huge safety issue as it affects visibility tremendously and continues to be an ongoing occurrence. As most warranty have expired by now, a recall on these windshield should be in processed.
