Vsc/trac light has been coming on intermittently for one year with no ill effects until yesterday when the vsc system activated itself twice under perfectly normal driving conditions. The first time it happened I was braking normally when the vsc kicked on and limited my stopping ability. The second time the vsc activated was I was driving 50 mph, foot off the brake, when the vehicle began pulling hard to the right forcing me into the next lane. For the few moments this lasted I had no control over braking or steering. Dealer has yet to resolve the issue.
Vsc trac warning light intermittently comes on, my recently purchased used 2001 Toyota Sequoia. I've read online posts that the ecm associated with this computerized anti-skid braking system is a common problem on these Toyota's and that action is being taken at your office to ensure Toyota corrects this issue. I want to ensure my Sequoia is also repaired.
My 2001 Toyota Sequoia has a problem with the vsc trac control. The vehicle's dash lights come on and it starts beeping and the vehicle starts jerking around and making a grinding noise and the brakes do not work hardly at all. This is happening almost every day I drive now. It's scary. It will last for around 20 seconds or so and go away, although the vsc/trac lights stay on the dash.
While driving our 2001 Toyota Sequoia, there is a loss of power and grinding noise from the wheels just before the vsc off and trac off lights come on and the vehicle begins beeping. Our local dealership indicates they have no idea what could be causing this, although internet research indicates we are nowhere close to being alone with this incident. We have concerns over passenger safety operating this vehicle at any speed.
Have a 2001 Toyota Sequoia and recently registered a vsc skid error on the dash. While driving on the interstate at 65 mph + the car became hard to control as and it felt as if the truck wanted to rock back and forth. The brakes seemed to be working without pressing the brakes and it felt like I had blown a tire. This seems to be very dangerous especially since I was on a very busy interstate with lots of traffic.
Traction control engages for no apparent reason causing truck to stall and or make grinding noises from front end.
2001 Toyota Sequoia 103k has had the vsc and trac light come on intermittently for the past year. Had the same thing happen at about 30k and the computer was replaced under warranty. When it happens it is just driving down the road in ideal conditions. It will go off when you shut off the vehicle and restart it. After looking on the internet I have discovered that this is a common problem with this vehicle. I want it to be safe when my wife and kids are in the car and I have lost faith in the safety of this vehicle because of this problem.
The contact owns a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the traction control activated and pulled the vehicle to the right which caused the rear brakes to wear; a crash almost occurred as a result. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the O2 sensor needed to be replaced. The dealer replaced the 02 sensor but 150 miles later, the failure occurred again. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired again. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.
Owner of 2001 Toyota Sequoia that infrequently has an issue where out of nowhere the vsc device activates. The vehicles front left wheel starts to grind and you can hear the device going frantically until it stops on its own. Normally it is brief and the 'vsc off' light comes on, but there have been times where it has happened at high speed causing distressing situation. Toyota dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that it could be a defective control module, but they couldn't find an obvious cause. They cleaned the sensors at the wheels and where the connection hooks to the dashboard for vsc off button. I wrote Toyota in hopes that they would offer assistance, but they responded with the terms of the warranty and that there was no issue.
We were driving down the hill and the traction control system went crazy we skidded out and then the abs and traction control/slip lights went on. They stayed on until we took it to the dealer and they replace some brake sensors that were corroded. On the way home it happened again. The traction control computer was reporting that there were still bad sensors, but the sensors were fine, so they replaced the entire traction control computer. After a week in the shop it finally came back working. A traction control system should not throw your car out of control and run you off the road. The dealer said that they had not seen so much corrosion under a vehicle before. They said that the frame, exhaust, spare tire, and brake components as well as various other electrical components looked to have what they would call excessive corrosion. They said I should take it up with whom I bought it from. I think this is the same problem as the tundras are having with corrosion and should be looped into the same investigation. The Sequoia, I was told when I bought it, was designed on the same frame, and drive train as the tundra which would explain why the corrosion is effecting similar braking systems and the spare. I would love for someone to investigate this. I would have hated for anything to happen to my family which was in the car with me.
I have a 2001 Toyota Sequoia, purchased used in 2004. In 2006, the abs, vsc, brake lights began to light up intermittently. After a few months, they came on & stayed on. The dealer did a diagnostic test and said it was a computer problem and would cost $2500+ to fix. This seems like a major design flaw by Toyota, and causes an extremely unsafe condition. I would expect a recall due to the number of similar complaints.
Since I purchased the car in 12/2000 (2001 Toyota Sequoia sr5 4x4) I have had the following recurring issues, which were brought up with the dealer on multiple occasions with no remedy: 1) trac and vsc lights going on/off with no error codes thrown 2) oil pressure gauge reading off-line low with no error codes thrown to date, the issues above have not caused a crash or bodily injury, but as this is my family car (two young children) it has been concerning. I have been following the issues with this car, my 01-07 and they seem to be known issues which have actually resulted in fire/crash. I cannot fill out the incident date accurately below as this has been happening for a number of years (since delivery of the vehicle).
