1 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

During driving on freeway with clean dry road car has beeping alarm on, vsc traction light on and svc lights lit up while the car shakes line the brake is on by itself for short period (3 seconds). Then both warning light vsc and off and vsc track light is on still until the engine is turned off an hour afterward. The next day I drove the car slowly on a local street after picking up my son after school, the brake started shaking the car and vsc off and vsc track lights are on again. I drive the car with caution everytime after that but the occurance doesn't happen every time nor being recreate. It happened every few thousand miles unexpectedly. This is very dangerous . I would like to find a fix by the manufacturer and have them pay for it. It seems like this is a problem for many same cars .

2 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2017

The car makes a loud sound as if something was stuck underneath. At the same time it pulls to the right while severely vibrating. Also at the same time the lights for tracking control and stability control turn on. After a few seconds the car seems to be in normal driving mode again except for the warning lights for the vsc off-light. The warning lights reset sometimes but that only leads to the same problem starting again.

3 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2016

When driving the it says it is off track and the light comes on and the car feels like the breaks comes on and jerks the car.

I then went home. Then after a few hour I had to go get my son I started the vehicle and noticed the lights were off, after only going 3 miles and with my son in the vehicle it made the ding noise lost power lights vcs off vcs trak lights came back on, very scary, hope they recall it soon, my Sequoia was made August 2002.

5 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2014

As I was driving my vehicle it made a grinding sound along with a brief slowdown and then the vsc track light came on. When you turn the vehicle off the lights go off and stay off until another episode. This has happened on three different occasions.

6 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2014

After hearing a clunking noise while driving, I took the Sequoia to the Toyota repair center where they inspected it and told me that the entire frame underneath the car was rusted through and had actually cracked in half towards the front end of the vehicle making it dangerous to drive. They informed me that Toyota had issued an extended warranty several months prior, but which had expired 1 month before I brought the vehicle in. Upon calling Toyota customer service, they told me that the extended warranty was only issued for Sequoia's to receive an under-coating to prevent freeze rust during the colder months and that if they noticed the frame was already broken down, only then would they replace it. Since I had already gotten an under-coating done by my mechanic prior to Toyota sending us the notice, I did not bring our vehicle to Toyota's repair center. For this reason, Toyota said they could do nothing about our broken frame since we never came in for our under-coating. I cannot understand how my Sequoia, at only 10 years old, can have such extensive damage if it was supposed to be properly created and installed in the first place. To have the frame completely rusted through and actually crack in half, all while my wife was using the car to drive my children to and from school, practice, etc. , is especially disconcerting after hearing how dangerous it was to be driving it by the Toyota mechanic. I believe that it is Toyota's duty to fix this issue with my vehicle since it was their negligence that created this poorly constructed vehicle/frame and I am issuing this complaint in order to pursue Toyota in this endeavor.

7 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2014

While driving at a speed of 35, my truck suddenly pulled to the right, started to shake and a beeping alarm came on, the picture of the vechicle skidding also lit up and the trac off and vsc trac also lit up and stayed on. Upon pulling over and cutting the truck off and restarting the vechicle, the lights where no longer lit. This has happened several more times. I have taken it to a mechanic and they have placed a machine on it to see if it registars anything, and nothing shows up. This really scared me and daughters track team mates, because we where not expecting this. This is the only vechicle I have at this time to drive, do to my husband being deployed. Toyota says that they have no recalls, but there are several complaints on the internet of this problem.

8 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2013

I was driving when the vehicle made crunch noise the vsc track light came on pulled to the right . I was told some of the Sequoia was recalled for problem but not this vehicle. I don't understand why they would recall the April 2002 for this problem but not the Jan 2002 . I believe this vehicle is very unsafe and should be covered by Toyota recall.
