Six problems related to other fuel system have been reported for the 2005 Toyota Sequoia. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2005 Toyota Sequoia based on all problems reported for the 2005 Sequoia.
Malfunction indicator lights - check engine, vsc off and trac off. The vehicle goes into limp mode. The issue is both a mechanical and engineering defect causing the override of the entire aip system. Parts affected are air injection pumps, air switching valves, air pump inlets/covers, gaskets/connectors/clamps and speed sensors.
Check engine light, vsc trac and break light constantly.
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Sequoia sr 5. The contact stated that the driver was traveling 55 mph when the vsc and check engine warning lights illuminated and the vehicle decreased speed. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop. The repair shop stated that the fuel air reduction pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 72,000 and the current mileage was 72,012.
Vsc trac---vsc--check engine light--and then problems with acceleration!!.
Vehicle when on a stop and making a turn doesn't acelerate for a few secons it goes blank then after gets speed. In many ocassion I had close calls with upcomming traffic behind me after making the turn because of the acelleration failure. I called the dealer where the car was obtained and they said that there is no recal for that vehicle even when I told them that the Sequoia 2003 was recalled because of the same issue. The told me that they can check what is wrong with it but I will need to pay the inspection plus the repairs. Las conversation with them was 6/27/2014.
When turning and accelerating (for example, turning out of a parking lot and entering traffic) the traction/skid control will engage - the skid control light turns on - and cut throttle for approximately 3 seconds. During this time the vehicle slows down and is not responsive to pressing on the gas pedal. This has happened approximately 10-15 times on this vehicle. I was not aware this was an inherent Sequoia problem until I read other complaints online - which is why I did not report this earlier.
