This Toyota has several large rust holes directly on the frame. I hit a pot hole and more structure damage was revealed on the frame from rust. The truck drives rough now. The vehicle only has 150,000 miles. The rust holes are so severe that they're directly under my suspension. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle. Their was once a recall for the frame. It doesn't seem that it was satisfied. I'm very worried about this issue. Toyota should have to replace frame or make it safe to drive.
My vehicle was in dealer shop for various maintenance 3 times (Nov 202 - may 2021 - Jan 2022). Frame rear passenger side rusting to the point I was told not to drive my vehicle on bad roads. Toyota dealer said to replace the frame thru them would cost me $14,000. I cried all the way home because I take exceptional care since I purchased her 2006 new. She is a cream puff. This should have been identified sooner. I have not driven her since Jan 3, 2022 because not only me+ (husband & dogs), but also my fellow motorists are at risk. Both my husband & an employee of the dealer shop asked Toyota directly in attempt to get them to replace frame at their expense. Toyota said no.
Bought the vehicle not knowing it has a rotting frame.
I have purchased the vehicle a year ago. I happen to look at the carfax today and realize the carfax has more mileage then what is on the odometer.
Rear hatch. Rear hatch handle made of plastic. Has broken two times since I have owned the car. Dealer charges $400 each time to replace. Toyota should not make cars with such cheap parts. Cannot get into vehicle.
My 16 year old son was locked in the Jeep unable to get out in a 90 degree weather. On July 1st the Jeep was parked on a city street in bridgeport new jersey. I came out the vehicle then locked the door from the outside and hurried to bring a bag with food inside even though passengers were still exiting the vehicle. My son was not ready to exit the vehicle and the door was shut closed. Later he tried to exit the Jeep and every time he tried to open the Jeep door, the door would lock and the alarm who off. He did this quite a few time and was unable to exit the Jeep. He had to call someone on his cellphone to his aid. This was a terrifying experience. Why did this happened? is this a defect? what is the next step that I have to take?.
My car has been having this problem for several months and I decided to bring it in to get it checked and fixed. My signals for the brake light, trac off lights and vsc trace lights all go on at the same time periodically as I am driving anywhere on the freeway or the street, and disapear periodically. I thought I had fixed everything when they diagnosed 5 things on my vehicle that needed to be fixed. One of them was my mass air flow sensors that are making my lights go on and off. To which I went ahead and let them fix it and many other things and still it is not fixed and continues to go on and off. This is very dangerous because it's messing with my brake system.
Lower ball joint failure, causing the driver side tire to break off at low speed on a residential street.
Secondary injection pump failure. Dealership says very common problem and cost would be roughly $3000. 00. No offer to help, but same problem as 07-10 tundras and Sequoias. Trk off, check engine, etc. Brakes not optimal. Long running problem with Toyota trucks. 96 k miles and well maintained. Wouldn't be upset if it wasn't such a highly reported failure. Happened upon startup with loud sucking noise for roughly 30 seconds and all lights concerning engine came on.
The frame of the body of the Toyota is rusting very bad. For only having the car three years buying this as a certified car, the body shouldn't be this bad. I'll also be opening up a case with Toyota.
Vehicle has alot rust under the body. I see a campaign is on for vehicles up to 2004 but they need to include 2006 Sequoias.
Codes c1223 (abs control system malfunction), c1247 (stroke sensor), and c1251 (pump motor is locked/ open circuit fault) had to replace vsc module/computer at my own cost.
Brakes fail on occassion and vsc light, trac off light and brake light come on. Hard to stop vehicle. Turning car off and back on again seem to temporarily solve the problem. Seems as if this is a common onging issue with the 2006 Sequoia based on previous posts. Taken to dealer on three different occassions and they were unable to identify problem. Today 5/23 dealer stated its a vacuum and repair part is approx. $1000. Please investigate this complaint because of the seriousness of the loss of stopping power with such a large vehicle before someone gets hurt. At least twelve complaints of similar problems have been filed.
