1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2023

Doors not locking with key fob. Have to manually lock all doors by hand. Sometimes the key fob arms the security and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve replaced the key fob and tried to program new fob but cannot program, hooked up a scanner to run for codes and 1 showed a (b1242 - wireless door lock tuner circuit).

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2017

Check engine light on, vsc and trac lights on - truck enters limp mode due to faulty secondary air intake system for emissions system. This is a known issue for Sequoias and tundras, however not yet covered for the 2007 model year! dealer part costs $1,700. Unless Toyota recieves enough case problems for 2007 year, they will not extend warranty for parts, which they have done for all other affected years.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

My vsc trac, trac off and check engine lights all came on yesterday. I was driving so I'm not sure if they all came on at the same time or not. The brake does not over ride cruise control on highway. So it will continue gas up even you use brake under cruise control mode. This is pretty disappointing since this problem has been seen all the way back to the first generation.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2016

The secondary air injection pump has gone out. This particular component has a know defect issue with Toyota. Toyota extended the warranty on 2008-2010 Sequoias with the exact same engine as my 2007 but they will not cover my vehicle. If they know there is an issue and they are will to extend the warranty of some vehicles, they should cover all vehicles with the same engine types because they are all going to have the same issue! this repair can cost the consumer up to $3600. This is a scam in my opinion.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2015

With the car engine on clean smoke started to come from the drivers seat heating switch area, the smoke dissipated after about 30 seconds when I turned the engine off. There have not been any malfunctions since then.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2015

The rear latch would not work during a camping trip in a remote area. The rear seats had been removed as per the owners manual prior to the trip. The rear portion of the vehicle was full of camping gear, food, water, and our first aide kit . I sprained my hand and back while first attempting repeated times to open the tailgate and then having to resort to lifting heavy equipment through the back window and also over the passenger seats. We took the vehicle to a Toyota dealer at out first opportunity. We were told that Toyota was aware of the problem which was described to my wife and I as weak engineering and a plastic part also know to fail. We were told that the failure could have been raised by driving the vehicle on dusty roads, because the latch was not protected from dust and it was poorly designed and was likely to fail if it got dirty. We learned from this dealer that we had already had the latch replaced a year prior. We were told that Toyota would no longer stand behind repairs to this vehicles tailgate latch because the problem was chronic and the replacement parts have not been improve to prevent expected failures. The dealer replaced, cleaned and lubricate the latch parts and then attempted to protect them using a surplus plastic bag. I am concerned that when the latch fails again it may be during an emergency, or cause another injury, or entrapment. . .

7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2012

While the vehicle was traveling at about 40 mph it suddenly loses engine power and the vehicle becomes hard to steer. Both the vsc off and trac off lights came on. I had to pull to the side and the car died completely. I turned off the car but could not turn it on immediately. I waited for about 5 minutes and tried again and it started up fine, but after I drove for less than half mile the same issue happened again. It happened a total of 6 times within a couple of miles. Since then it's been happening every few days. Took it to my mechanic but they could not pull a code. Searching online it seems this is a common problem that happened to many 1st generation Sequoias.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2012

I own a 2007 Toyota sequia and the trac off-vsc trac and brake lights turn on several times while driving or after I push the brakes, I took the car to 2 Toyota dealers in miami FL, and they told me that in order to fix the problem the must have a code, the lights comes and go frequently and disapear when you turn off the car, the dealer don't want to help and seems this issue is happening to many people, I don't know what else to do to because they said the computer doesn't show the codes while the car is on, and once you turned off the car the computer reset itself. In two months my extended warranty will expired and after this I will have to paid for something that is the manufacturer responsability. None of the local Toyota dealers wants to help, I whould like to know if there is any type of support you can offer me as a consumer. Thank you for the attention to this matter guiselle chang.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2011

The steering in ignition are damaged, makes the vehicle inoperatable.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2010

Power window motor and electrical malfunction cause window to become stuck and rear window defogger to be disable and driver visibility impaired.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2007

Seems there is a common problem when searched on Toyota Sequoias and tundras from 02 to 07 vsc trac off and ecu replacement which is to do with skid control and can cause death and injury if it fails. Apparently I am finding out that thousands have registered with this site and no Toyota recall has been issued and the company doesn't want to recall because it is a 2300, repair. The computer chip is the problem and it goes bad that soon? wow Toyota is just turning the us government and people around and screwing them silly and laughing all the way to the bank. Please do something! it is a family car that is going to make the american families that buy it homeless with that kind of repair.
