Bought a britax marathon xe e9lr31a batch: job0005290 manufactured 03/2014. I attached the car seat per the directions on the manual (rear facing) to the rear captain seat of my 2008 Toyota Sequoia. I used the versa tether located on the rear of the car seat to make the car seat more secure and secured the remaining portion with the tether. The remaining tether portion eventually became loose and unknowingly became lodged in the right rear door with the end sticking outside of the door. While driving on a city street I heard a sound from the right rear of the vehicle and immediately pulled over at which time the tether got caught underneath the right rear tire and pulled the car seat (with my son in it) towards the door and almost physically hurt my son and almost damaged the captain seat of my vehicle. Fortunately my son was only scared by the situation and no physical harm was done to him. The captain seat of the vehicle was saved by the seat protector that has an extreme indention on it from the force that was applied by the wheel catching the tether. There are also marks in the paint and scratches on the lower end of the right rear door where the tether was lodged. The versa tether on the rear of the seat is dangerously long and I would suggest some sort of feature to reduce the length with something besides the elastic strap or provide separate sizes. (related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=Toyota, model=sequoia).
Screw holding toggle mechanism for latch straps in sunshine kids monterey booster pulled away from base, causing toggle mechanism to recede into the booster body- making it virtually impossible to remove seat from vehicle. (neither "sunshine kids" nor "monterey" is listed on the "restraint type" box in the next page). I am a cpst as well as a firefighter and paramedic. This particular seat restrains the child with the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt, as it is a belt-positioning booster. However, this seat also has a latch system to secure the seat to the vehicle so that the seat itself does not become a projectile if not buckled into the vehicle when not in use. I have marked answers to following questions to reflect that the seat was installed with latch, but do understand how this seat is designed to be used (securing child with lap and shoulder belt), and have always used it 100% correctly. The child in question is 9 years old and 58 pounds. (related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=Toyota, model=sequoia).
Super latch strap of sunshine kids radian xtsl is loosening over time and must constantly be double checked or reinstalled securely. I am a cpst and do not trust this seat to remain securely and correctly installed. The normal latch strap made by skjp (sunshine kids juvenille products) has a push-button release mechanism to allow the strap to be loosened. The superlatch strap has a metal tab that must only be lifted- and can be bumped by children's feet or will come loose on it's own over time. (related vehicle information: model year=2005, make=Toyota, model=sequoia).
: the contact stated while buckling the child in the child safety seat, the harness buckle located between the child's legs detached from the seat. The manufacturer was alerted and the wrong replacement part was sent to the contact. The seat was a cosco summit manufactured December 31, 2005.
