Unknown Or Other problem #1

Excessive frame rust. Frame rusted through. Will not pass inspection. I have been watching forums where many other Sequoia owners are having the same issue. This apparently does not affect all Sequoias. 3-4 years ago metal was coming off of the frame in huge chunks. I started asking the dealer about the issue several years ago and was hoping that there would be a recall to correct. The car is in excellent shape otherwise.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

The vsc trac and vsc off lights are on and won't go off.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

Actually, this was not an "incident". Rather it was me crawling under the truck to scrape some rust off of the frame. What I found was about a one foot long rusted "slit" in the frame. It did not look safe to me, so I took it to the Toyota dealer to inspect. (cost me $25. ) I was told that it was safe for now, but would soon not be safe. The Toyota field specialist said there was nothing he could do. Looking online, I see countless cases of rotting frames on this year Sequoia. Things I see online from other owners (using my words): "the frame is rusting from the inside out. It was made with either inferior material or bad coating. The tacoma (with the same frame) has been covered by Toyota. " lots of upset people out there! not sure what to do. . . Don't feel right about selling it. . . Don't feel safe driving it too much. Please help!.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

I was driving on the fwy an the lights of the traction control turn on. The vehicle lost power and turn off. Since then it happend many time a low speed.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

The frame on my 2003 Sequoia is rotting.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

The vehicle was examined at our local Toyota dealer on 1/5/2012 because of making a grinding noise and shaking with acceleration at speeds above 20 mph. It was found to have extensive rust damage to the frame with a large rust hole in the right front area at the sway bar bushing bracket. The rear differential housing was rusted and leaking fluid, the right and left sway bars were broken, both front brake calipers were stuck and the rotors badly rusted. Repairs for the frame alone were estimated at over $10,000 with more than that amount to take care of the other issues. This Sequoia has been well maintained on a regular schedule, washed regularly and kept at night in a garage. The body and interior are in excellent condition. The car has only 76,000 miles on the odometer. It was quite a shock to go from a car we relied upon to carry us safely in winter weather to one which has had to be abandoned for scrap. I understand that frame rust issues have been a serious problem for many Toyota models including the tacoma and tundra resulting in recalls. The Sequoia needs to be added to this list.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

Truck has very rusty frame, specially the back portion and the middle, including the rear wheels, break section, real axel, full with the rust, even while trying to clean once but stopped due to realizing that, big pieces of metal was coming of like paper and start leaving hole in the frame, at front, around inside the wheels, frame is really rusty, and seem something is going to break anytime, its well maintain truck, always being maintain by Toyota dealer, has all the record. Also having issue with manifold leaked, replaced the passenger side, paying $1200 and been told driver side need to replace too, had found on line that Sequoia 2001 has problem with manifold too. Recently replaced one of the catalytic converter costing $1000 plus, which break due to rusty underneath, called Toyota but no satisfactory answer.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

Vsc light, trac off light and check engine light all came on at the same time. I took vehicle to autozone and they checked the computer with the result error 5 cylinder misfire, for the check engine light, the other 2 warning lights they could not give me any advice on.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Undercarriage rust hole 6" diameter and more through steel plate under vehicle. 74,000 miles original owner and heated garage. This Sequoia should be included in the rust recall. The underbody rust for an '04 with only 74,000 miles is ridiculous. Extreme rust around brake components.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

5th/rear door flew open sometime between coming to a normal stop at 40 mph emptying all the contents of the rear. The door would not open for two days or so prior to the incident, (for the second time in about a month).

Unknown Or Other problem #11

I have owned this 2001 Toyota Sequoia since 2009 with 178k and the frame had rust back then. I recently had the rear tire replace and the mechanic said I should not drive it because of the excessive rust in the rear frame and bring it to a Toyota dealer for a safety check. I am calling them to have them look at the rust this Friday, I did see it for myself and wont drive it anymore because of my familys safety. I also noticed there is a recall of the tundra truck frames by Toyota and also noticed there are many people with the same rust problems of Sequoia trucks, if they are the same frame as written online why arent they also recalled? I cant believe this is rusting this bad, its only 10 years old but its still in such great shape.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

I noticed oil leaking from rear axle housing. When I took the vehicle in for service I was told that the axle housing is leaking due to defective welds and must be replaced, it cannot be repaired. At the same time I was also told that the vehicle frame has rotted from the inside out due to defective or inadequate factory rustproofing. I was told that this problem is pervasive in Toyota Sequoias which have the same frame as Toyota tundras. Toyota has recalled the tundras and replaced the frames but to date refuses to do the same for Sequoias. The vehicle has been determined to be unsafe to drive at this time. Aside from the defects stated above the vehicle is in excellent condition.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

11/02/2011, plastic rear hatch outside door handle broke. I am unable to open the hatch. Dealer said it may take up to 2 hrs. To fix @ $105. 00/hr. Plus parts. Advised dealer of others who have had same problem & was advised there is not a recall. I emailed complaint to Toyota, but to date, have not received reply.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

2001 Toyota Sequoia has only 88,000 miles after ten years. Recently failed inspection due to rotted, rusted frame and rear differential casing. Mechanic was able to demonstrate frame failure by pressing finger through rusted metal. Vehicle now requires frame strength assessment to determine if it is salvageable. Vehicle has same frame as recalled Toyota tundra.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

I was just like to issue a complaint about the excessive rust on the frame of my 2001 Toyota Sequoia. It is almost to the point where I will no longer be able to drive the vehicle. I was checking break wear when I noticed that the sway bar on the left front of my vehicle were rusted in two. I have ordered new sway bars. My sequioa was equiped with the tow package but am afraid to pull my bass boat with it in fear the hitch will be pulled loose from the frame because of all the rust. I have noticed recalls on the tundra for rusty frames and why I would like know why the Sequoia isn't being recalled since this seems to be a common theme amongst owners of 2001 & 2002 Sequoia owners.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

Frame shows signs of extreme rust, especially at all weld points. Many integral components of the frame have multiple layers of rust through. The rear axle torsion bars have heavy rust and appear to show diminished diameter. The rear axle drain bolt looks like it will fall off if an attempt is made to check fluid. . Read more...

Unknown Or Other problem #17

At 66,000 miles my Sequoia had engine problem, ( that's what Toyota people said ) I took my truck for maintenance and oil change if I see the light is on for maintenance. Friday sept 16, 2011 I took it Toyota dealership for oil change and brake pads done, wed the 21 of sept, I heard a loud noise and it just stop! I was devastated because, they didn't know what have caused it, please help!.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

My 2001 Toyota Sequoia has extensive frame rust. I am very concerned with safety and am not sure what to do. The body is in excellent condition but the frame and attached components are severely rusted. I understand Toyota will not take action on this issue. I am the original owner.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

I was driving about 50mph when all over a sudden my car lost power and I heard a grinding noise and was shaking. Then immediately the Sequoia vsc & trac sensor lights turned on. This has happened twice now in the past one week. It's like I almost lost control of the car. It would have been definitely worse if I was on highway. I called Toyota corp customer relation and filed a complaint but they would not admit to have this recalled despite the fact that they have had many safety issue complaints about this problem. They admitted the problem being reported on other models like 2003 and up but would not offer to recall mine and have it fixed because its a 2001.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

Vehicle will suddenly lose power at speed. Vsc light is on at this time. Grinding noise audible.

Unknown Or Other problem #21

2002 Toyota Sequoia was found by mechanic to have frame rust through. Contacted Toyota corp. With no recall stated by them, and no resolution offered. Filed ohio attny. General complaint filing.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

Abs trac lights continue to stay on. Vehicle's front left wheel area will attempt to lock with a scraping noise - like the brakes were applied. Repeated attempts to diagnose were not successful.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

According to Toyota my 2005 Toyota Sequoia's vsc/abs skid control ecu needs to be replaced when I reported that I almost got into an accident when I applied the brakes and they didn't work because of vsc vasc trak and foot brake lights came on. I some how controled the my vehical and saved myself from having an accident. Now Toyota is asking for $1100 to replace the unit. This unil should recalled by Toyota as they are very well aware of the problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

2002 Toyota Sequoia brake slippery and shake the vehicle, then both vsc and trac off warning lights are on.

Unknown Or Other problem #25

I was driving down the highway and out of no where I started skidding and my steering wheel started shaking. There was nothing on the road, the weather was hot and dry, and I wasn't switiching lanes. Simultaneously the "vsc trac" and "trac off" lights came on. My first instinct was to apply the brake, and upon doing so the abs kicked in. I pulled off the highway to let the car rest and so that I could check everything out. Everything appeared fine, so I continued on my journey. The lights stayed on for the remainder of the 50 mile trip, but no further incident occurred. When I started the car the next morning, the lights were off. I took the car to the dealership and they told me I had an ecu skid control failure. Upon further investigation I found that this had happened at least four times prior with this vehicle, starting when the car was only two years old and had approximately 35,000 miles. All four times the car had been taken to the dealership for inspection.

Unknown Or Other problem #26

2005 Toyota Sequoia. Emergency brake light comes on while driving. This has been happening 3 to 4 times a year over the life of the vehicle( I am original owner. Has been told by dealer that it has been fixed and within a few months light is back on again. Today may 7th is 2nd time for 2011 that I am again at dealer with this issue.

Unknown Or Other problem #27

Toyota Sequoia 2005 - air injection control valve & pump broke. Causing car to completely malfunction. According to mechanic - a blade from the air injector pump broke - dislodged into system and caused corrosion and debris to enter into system cause over $2800 worth of parts needing to be replaced. Very uncommon part to replace according to mechanic. Toyota dealer had the parts to replace it - causing more concern that this may be a recall item considering the dangerous situation it presents when car completely stops working because of malfunctioning parts.

Unknown Or Other problem #28

I own a 2003 Toyota Sequoia with a severly rusted frame. It has aprox. 16" long rust hole in it aprox 1-2" wide, just under drivers floor at bottom of frame, right where the rear transmission crossmember attaches to frame. I have owned the vehicle since brand new (purchased in sept. Of 2002) and vehicle has just over 63,000 miles. Vehicle has never been involved in an accident. I made an appointment at local Toyota dealer where vehicle was purchased and serviced and the Toyota "fts" inspected it and took several pictures and documented it on 5/5/2011 and reported findings to factory and deemed my vehicle "unsafe to drive due to perforation in frame". I was instructed by Toyota fts to contact Toyota corporate headquaters and see what can/will be done by Toyota. After 3 calls over a 2 week period Toyota told me that they would do nothing to correct this concern although the tundra has the same issue with rusting frames and Toyota is replacing them under an extension of the warranty and both vehicles use the same chassis type and are made in same plant. Upon research of this issue (via the internet) I find that I am not the only one with this issue and Toyota seems to be treating all of it's Sequoia owners in the same fashion. Please look into this issue before someone who does not know their frame has rusted and possibly breaks causing loss of control possibly injuring or killing it's driver and or passengers. Toyota knows of the problem and their failure to properly protect their frame from rusting through due to enviromental conditions that are seen in certain parts of the united states (as stated by one of the customer service rep's that I had spoken to) when refering to the tundra and I feel that Toyota is once again trying to exclude itself from any problems to the Sequoia. This issue needs to be addressed as it was on the tundra and include the Sequoia.

Unknown Or Other problem #29

Component: structure, frame. Took our car to a local Toyota dealer for annual inspection. We were totally unprepared for this shocking news: it would never pass inspection because the frame underneath is rusted and has a hole the size of a baseball in the rear portion near the spare tire. Not only do we suddenly not have a car to drive, it's worth has totally dropped to zero. Should this be under Toyota's recall for tacomas with this similar problem? we just returned from a 1500 mile trip and I shudder to think of what may have occurred .

Unknown Or Other problem #30

The steering column jacket and controller cracked from normal wear. These 2 parts hold the gear shift and guide the vehicle in park, reverse and drive. When the incident occurred, the gear shift was in the park position but due to the cracked parts the vehicle was actually in reverse with out my knowledge. The vehicle could be turned off allowing the vehicle to move freely. The steering column cover was removed and revealed were non-supportive parts that were needed for the range of motion and force for the gear shift over time and possible inadequate die cast metal.

Unknown Or Other problem #31

On 2/14/11 I began to smell a moldy, mildew smell in my vehicle. After searching my car, I found the padding underneath the carpet in the cargo area behind the third row seats was wet. The top of the carpet was not wet and did not show signs of ever being wet. I took the car to the Toyota dealer on 2/15/11. The dealer removed both the second and third row seats and rolled the carpet and padding back. The car had standing water under the carpet and padding. The dealer took apart all of the moldings and panels in the car and ran various water tests. They finally discovered the water was entering my car through the third brake light assembly on the rear hatch door. The water trail ran between the molding/panels and the frame of the car under the carpet to the bare metal floor. They told me there was no way of me knowing water was entering my car because it was hidden behind the panels. The dealer explained to me there was no damage to the third brake light and the rubber seal behind the brake light was in tact with no cuts, tears or dry-rotting. They said the water came through the third brake light assembly due to a part failure. This is now a safety issue because of the mold and mildew in the carpet that my family and I have breathed in on a daily basis without our knowledge of water damage to the vehicle. This seems to be a more common occurrence than not with Toyota vehicles built between 2005 - 2008. A recall should be issued for this problem, similar to the recall that was issued on Toyota vehicles for the “cowl panel water leak and “access door water leak.

Unknown Or Other problem #32

Power brakes quit working while driving. Approx 8 times, when coming to a stop or backing out of a parking space, the power brakes go out. Sometimes, codes appear on the dash and sometimes they don't. I usually have to restart the car to get it to work again. I have taken it in to the dealership twice and they can't find anything wrong.

Unknown Or Other problem #33

While driving 35 mph in a residential area with my foot on the gas, all of the sudden the engine revved up from under 2 rpm to almost 5 rpm. I pressed the gas to see if I could free up the pedal and the brake. Nothing worked, finally after a couple of seconds the car began loosing acceleration and I pulled over. Floor mat was not under the accelerator, something else made it rev up. We are bringing in the car Monday for inspection. I could not reproduce the problem since.

Unknown Or Other problem #34

2008 Toyota Sequoia-current problem with my SUV: my abs, traction control, vehicle skid control lights are on turned on and it has been going on for a month-took it to a local Toyota dealership to diagnose the problem, it took them a whole day (8:30 am to 5:30 pm)to finally figured it out that we need to replace the vehicle skid control actuator and will cost us $2500. 00-this is a safety issue that Toyota is well aware of. . . My husband and I almost got into a car accident on an icy day in colorado because of it-Toyota headquarters wont fix it nor the local dealership. . . . . This is serious matter and it needs to be address. . . . . This is the same problem to Toyota's recall for the 03 Sequoias. . . . Read more...

Unknown Or Other problem #35

I had just stopped at a red light when my SUV shuddered and then stalled out. It restarted but the a/c light blinked. The dealer said the a/c froze up (at 42000 miles) and needed to be replaced for over $1700. 00- not under warranty. It will be fixed in the next month or so. If the light had not changed when it did I may have stalled in the middle of one of the busiest intersections in virginia beach ( so unsafe there are red light cameras at that intersection). Prior to this the a/c had worked perfectly, so there was no warning that this would happen.

Unknown Or Other problem #36

This is an intermittent and random problem. Radio/disc player turns itself on and off going over bumps and/or when cornering. Sometimes radio is on, but all displays are blank, and radio does not respond to any controls, including the power button. Sometimes the problem resolves by shutting vehicle completely down and restarting. Sometimes it takes several restart cycles to resolve. Dealer service department stated that this "is a known problem," but that "no recall had been issued. " I realize this doesn't rank up there with tires and fuel tanks. Nonetheless, having an electrical component behave like this makes one wonder about the possibilities for an electrical fire. Also, having any piece of equipment behave this way definitely increases the risk of accident due to driver distraction. More than once I've been physically and mentally startled when the radio unexpectedly turned itself on and blasted me with my kids' music.

Unknown Or Other problem #37

Our vsc/trac light and engine light simultaneously come on for an unknown reason. Our mechanic can not find a solution. Our emergency brake light comes on and off for no necessary reason as well. This has happened three or four times and no one can fix it. I am afraid to take it to Toyota because of the bad experiences posted online where consumers have received many verying answers, expensive repairs, and in some case, still no solution. We are in the market to buy a new car and it makes resale very difficult with these lights on and no answer as to why they are on. . . And no way to turn them off. . . So we wait. Many people have posted on the internet about this same problem in other 2005 Sequoias. Our computer keeps throwing varying and different errors. . . And my mechanic thinks the errors are not accurate. Could it be a computer or electrical malfunction? please help.

Unknown Or Other problem #38

To start, I want to stress that I do not understand why there is no recall for this problem. The vsc trac, abs, skid control and brake lights all came on and stayed on as of the above date. Prior to that date, the vsc trac and skid lights would come on for no reason, but would go off upon turning off and restarting the car. When the lights came on and stayed on, I read the owner's manual and based on that information, was worried the the brakes would not work, so I called the dealer. When I spoke to someone in the dealer's repair shop about the problem before I brought the car in, he said that the warning lights meant that my abs system was gone and it would cost $2,000 to fix. He said that it was not covered by warranty or a recall. So, I took it to the nearest auto repair shop to my home, that I had used previously. They checked the warning lights with the computer diagnostic and could not find anything wrong. Then, I took it to the dealer, and they checked the warning lights and said that the problem was low voltage with the battery. I had recently bought a new battery, so I took the car back to the first place, which checked the battery and said it was fine. So I received conflicting messages from the dealer. However, since other owners with my year/model Toyota have had safety problems with the same issue and Toyota has the same problem with the 2003 model and they have issued a recall, I believe it is a safety issue. I can't understand why no recall has been issued for the 2002 year. Please look at all of the complaints about this exact issue from so many consumers (and I'm sure plenty of others who did not take the time to report it) and act before someone is seriously injured or killed!!!!!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #39

We own a 2008 Sequoia. On 3/13/10 the local 1-10 Toyota dealer in indio, CA did the initial "recall fix" on our sequioa. My husband works in anza, CA. On his way home from work he was driving downhill on route 74 (a very treacherous mountain road) and the rpm's on the Toyota increased and when he saw them get over 3000 rpm's he tried to break. The breaks did not work and the rpm's kept rising. He hit the breaks again and they still didn't work. He laid on them the 3rd time and they finally kicked in. When he got home he told me what happened. I immediately called the Toyota dealer and they advised me to bring the car in first thing the following day. We ran into several bad experiences with how the dealer has handled us during the week. They still have the vehicle and today is 3/25/10. We asked them for a full pedal replacement as we researched it on line and saw that we were not alone in experiencing a problem even after they have completed their initial "recall fix". We are very concerned about several issues. Our primary concern is that my husband can no longer trust driving this car back and forth to work. We feel we will not be able to trust driving it even after we get it back since this is the 2nd fix they have done on it. We also are concerned about the resell value of our vehicle as we have seen articles stating that kelly blue book is confirming that the resell values are being effected. Could a lawyer possibly negotiate with Toyota on our behalf to reduce our loan since we are financed through Toyota directly and our vehicle value has been reduced.

Unknown Or Other problem #40

The rear door latch failed, making the door inoperable. Use of the door for entry and exit was impossible, creating a safety hazard. Repair of this latch failure is expensive ($400 - $700) and inconvenient. The design of the part and the material used (plastic) appears to be at fault. A heavier duty metal part is now available from after market parts dealers. The problem appears to be common and widespread judging from a discussion with a local Toyota dealer service center and judging from the number of complaints and information on the internet.

Unknown Or Other problem #41

The vehicle took off while trying to park in front of my residence hitting a park vehicle causing damage to my vehicle and the park one the accelerator just engaged itself the abs, traction and vsc lights car making strange noises on the left front wheel slight vibration on steering wheel left.

Unknown Or Other problem #42

While driving along at city street speeds, during dry weather, on paved roads, my vsc trac and trac off lights come on. No other warning lights come on. Then a buzzer sounds for about 3 seconds. Then at the same time, a strange grinding sound comes from underneath the car, and the brakes seem to start working for no reason. I quickly pull over, turn off the car. I check the outside of the car and see no indication of running over anything. I then start the car and all the lights are back to normal (off). This happens about 2-3 times a month, for about a month or 2 now. I have not been able to determine any problems.

Unknown Or Other problem #43

'vsc' and 'vsc/trac off' lights illuminated and will not go off. Apparently a very frequently encountered and reported problem (not the lights alone, but the underlying problems causing thr lights) among 2002 Toyota Sequoias, but nothing voluntarily done about it by Toyota. Should be a recall based on its common occurrence on numerous Sequoia years, but no culpability admitted yet. Cost of repairs estim. At > $2,000 w/ no guarantee that it won't happen again.

Unknown Or Other problem #44

I provided the following information to consumer reports and they suggested I forward the information to you: I subscribe to mycarstats car report advisory service. They provide info and maintenance reports on vehicles like mine, 2003 Toyota Sequoia. There are repeated reports of failures to the vsc/abs/esc system. In some cases the brakes were applied without driver input creating a dangerous situation. These incidents seem to be more prevalent when the vehicles have higher mileage. It also seems the dealers are milking the car owners by doing band-aid fixes to the system until the warranty goes out. In some cases the repair cost exceeds $2500. This is a known problem that Toyota has chosen to ignore and owners have been crying for a recall but obviously they have been crying to the wrong people - Toyota. Can you get involved before someone gets hurt or killed? maybe that has already happened and Toyota is keeping it quite. I also noticed that you have already received several complaints about this problem. The consumer stated he has not experienced a failure, but he just wanted it to be known that there is a problem. Updated 04/07/10.

Unknown Or Other problem #45

Seems there is a common problem when searched on Toyota Sequoias and tundras from 02 to 07 vsc trac off and ecu replacement which is to do with skid control and can cause death and injury if it fails. Apparently I am finding out that thousands have registered with this site and no Toyota recall has been issued and the company doesn't want to recall because it is a 2300, repair. The computer chip is the problem and it goes bad that soon? wow Toyota is just turning the us government and people around and screwing them silly and laughing all the way to the bank. Please do something! it is a family car that is going to make the american families that buy it homeless with that kind of repair.

Unknown Or Other problem #46

Toyota Sequoia 2003 ecu computer failure (vsc/abs light on) after just 40k miles. This is integrated into the powertrain and should be covered under the powertrain warranty which is 60 months/60,000 miles. They want me to pay 2500 dollars.

Unknown Or Other problem #47

I own a 2003 Toyota Sequoia. For the third time now, the vsc off and vsc trac lights have illuminated for no reason. Local Toyota dealer can't figure it out and every time it's a different diagnose. I have purchased Toyota's for their reliability, but this one has me thinking otherwise. I saw on an edmunds forum site that other folks have reported this to the NHTSA gov site. I thought it is a good idea since it has to do with a brake system. From the number of complaints on the forum sites I think Toyota has a problem they don't want to admit. That is until someone gets hurt.

Unknown Or Other problem #48

Monday, September 27th, 2004 I brought in my Sequoia for service. I had complained that when the vehicle is stopped (with my foot on the brake) and the air conditioning engages the car rolls forward. The last time that this had happened, several days before, had resulted in an accident with another vehicle. The service tech informed me that they had been able to duplicate the problem and that Toyotas regional factory technician needed to verify their own assessment and approve the warranty work to correct the problem he also stated very specifically that they had never seen this problem before. Friday, October 8th, 2004 glenn kashima, service director from tustin Toyota called me. He informed me that the factory technician had been out to look at the car. He had not been able to duplicate the problem, and determined that the car was operating within specifications. He told me that I could pick the car up. I made it clear that this was unacceptable. First they tell me that the have identified a problem, have never seen this problem before, and it will be covered by my warranty. Then they tell me that there is nothing wrong. Wednesday, October 13th, 2004 I went to Toyota dealership. I spoke with glenn kashima. He again reiterated that the car was operating within specs. This in spite of his acknowledgement of the fact that his own technician had duplicated the problem, etc. He told me that he had asked his technician if his foot had been pushing strongly on the brake when he had duplicated the problem, or only lightly on the brake. Glenn told me that he had been asked this by the Toyota factory guy. He described that his own Toyota truck does that. . That if your foot is not pressed hard on the brake that will happen. I asked, are you telling me that if the car is stopped, with my foot on the brake sufficiently to have the vehicle stopped, that the vehicle will lurch forward when the a/c engages? he nodded his head and said,"yes. ".

Consumer began to smell a sulfur/rotten egg odor. The smell seemed enhanced by sudden acceleration of the vehicle and by operation of the sunroof.

Unknown Or Other problem #50

Since owning the vehicle, vsc initializes on dry straight pavement, at low speeds. Returned to local CT dealer multiple times. No problem found. On a recent trip, driving on an interstate highway, straight road, 70mph, all of a sudden it felt like the front of the vehicle was coming apart. The next thing I knew I went from the right to left lane and into the median. Luckily no other vehicles were involved and no rollover occurred. I was able to gain control. The vsc was the cause. This time the vsc would not reset. Took it to a Toyota dealer in jonesboro, ar. They replaced the steering angle sensor and stated this was a frequent problem with the vsc.

Unknown Or Other problem #51

Our 2002 Toyota seqouia limited has an ongoing problem with the air coditioning system. The system does not blow air cold enough to cool the interior of the vehicle. The vehicle has been to the dealer 5 times in the last two months. The entire system has been replaced and "retrofitted. " during our last conversation with the service manager, he stated that this is a common complaint with the Sequoia and that Toyota USA has issued a bulletin stating that air temperature in the range of 55 to 58 degrees is to be expected. This is unacceptable! the average daily summer temperature here is 100 degrees. Last summer the system worked so well we rarely ran it on high. This summer we are lucky to cool the car at all. Where do we go from here?.

Unknown Or Other problem #52

2002 - vsc trac light came on, vehicle unexpectedly pulls to right, called dealer said okay to drive home . Took to dealer didn't find anything wrong. Vsc trac has continued to malfunction through the years, each time dealer reported nothing wrong. 2012- problem has worsen, trac light comes on everyday. Vehicle either unexpectedly pulls too hard to right or shakes badly as though frontend is falling out from under the vehicle.

1) I purchased a 2002 Toyota Sequoia in Nov 2001. The summer of 2002, the ac had malfunctioned and I brought it back to dealer for repair. Summer of 2003, the ac had malfunctioned again and I brought it back to dealer for repair. The subsequent summers 2004, 2005 and 2006, I have been without a properly functioning ac system because I refuse to pay $2300-$3000 for something that should not break every year! 2) the ac system works marginally if the outside temperature is below 80 degrees and not humid. I cannot defog my window when it is raining during hot months. This poses a safety threat to me and others on the road. I cannot transport kids or elderly in my vehicle during hot months for fear of heat exhaustion (or worse) of my passengers. 3) the vehicle was taken to dealer for two years (during warranty period) for ac repair. I refuse to pay for something that should not break every year. I have a 1995 camry that has an ac system that still works.

Unknown Or Other problem #54

Problems began at 14,647 miles on brand new vehicle. Extreme pull to the right, shimmie, vibration while driving and braking, loss of vsc abilities. Repeatedly have had to replace tires and brakes because of malfunction. Tires are wearing to the metal in unconventional manner. Toyota repeatedly disregarded and dismissed my concerns, telling me "the roads in az slant to the right, hence your vehicle will pull to the right". After two years of fighting with them regarding this, they now admit to caliper/drum problem but maintain I have to pay to correct it because now I am out of warranty. Even though problems began at 14k miles, they contend this is my problem and not theirs. These are only a few of the problems I have had with this vehicle. This form requests a # of failures; I do not have a number to give you, as this has been a constant, chronic problem that has not ceased. I have had 4 sets of tires and replaced the brakes 4 times.
