The contact owns a 2002 Toyota Sequoia. While attempting to accelerate from a stop, the stability light flashed on the instrument panel and the vehicle accelerated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the yaw-rate sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 191,000.

I have a problem with my trac and vsc light coming on while driving. The stability light would blink and beep and both the trac off and vsc light would come on. The brakes would also seem like it's grinding when the stability light is blinking and beeping. I have the exact same problem as this guy on this video https://youtu. Be/vgearn4nito.
While accelerating on an on ramp along interstate highway, vsc vehcile stability control light came on, engine went to idle, lost speed. After about 10 seconds, vsc light went out, engine able to accelerate. Considering heavy traffic on interstate 495, this is very dangerous. No ice, no snow, no rain, road was dry and level. This is the third time it has occurred.

Vehicle had experienced intermittent stability/traction control trouble lights in cold weather. While driving in sub freezing weather on wet heavily salted nearly clear (possible slight slush from snow dusting) interstate along a straight smooth slight upgrade stretch, the vehicle without diver action (steering, braking, or acceleration) experienced a rear end swerve to the right and inability to control. Result was leaving the right side of the roadway down a 25-30 foot embankment (no guardrail) and a vehicle roll (one time, ending up wheels down, still running). Travel was at or below that of traffic. No other vehicles experienced difficulty on the same stretch of road. It is believed that a sudden random actuation of the stability/traction control system initiated the event. This appears to be a generic issue with the Toyota system spanning several models and years.

Vsc lights are on all the time, and so is the check engine light. Have spent $$$$ of dollars replacing oxygen sensors, mufflers, hoses, etc. Just had the frame replaced under recall, but too many other parts rotted and had to be replaced as well for additional costs. I love the car, but when I brake the wheel vibrates too much and make controlling the car difficult. I believe this is due to the vsc control. Not to mention the car stability light goes on and off everytime I accelerate (taking the SUV in for that voluntary recall as well). Fix this vsc/engine light problem.

Driving on the highway and took an exit. Slowed down and turned the steering wheel. The vsa and trac lights came on, the car lost power for several seconds, pushing the gas pedal didn't do anything for several seconds and eventually, heard a loud noise as if the engine was re-engaging and then some grinding noise and the car was back to "normal" driving condition. Since the first incident, has happened several times over again. Very dangerous considering there were cars behind me and could have ran into me. Similar experience pulling into a parking lot. Made a left turn and the car just stopped. People were honking behind me and the car would not move. Had to turn the ignition off and then back on to make it work again.

2004 Toyota Sequoia occasionally the brake light and vsc (vehicle stability control) lights come on. When this happens the abs system physically malfunctions and the vehicle becomes a uncontrollable hazard. The Toyota dealer said the issue is a internal malfunction in the brake booster/master cylinder assembly as well as the skid control ecu. (the total cost of repair is $2657. 00). I have read numerous complaints about this issue and the dealer admitted knowledge of this hazard and said it was a common problem but Toyota is not correcting the issue or offering any assistance in correcting this hazard. These vehicles are unsafe to be on the road. I have no choice but to have the recommended repairs done, but this is a major issue/defect for Toyota and the responsibility of this safety issue should fall to the manufacturer.

Two days ago, I happened to be on my way home on a back road and only going around 40 mph when my stability control light, vsc trac, and trac off light came on and my car started making a beeping noise and I could not control my vehicle. This is for a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. I have seen many complaints since on different forums about this same problem. What can be done about this problem? I am very disappointed with Toyota and hope that there will be a recall on this problem or they could be facing some lawsuits if these kind of problems persist and someone gets injured or even killed because of negligence on Toyota's part. As for me and my family, we have owned Toyota vehicles for years, my great uncle was even asked to be in a Toyota commercial because of the devotion our family has had to Toyota. I really hope they do the right thing because there will be challenges made against their company if not.
In stop and go traffic at launch vehicle abs engaged without warning repeatedly with loud grinding noises and the abs light, traction light and vehicle stability control light all came up. Stopped vehicle, turned off engine, waited a few minutes and all lights were gone upon restart. However this problem worsened considerably and more often through the October and November 2011 months, to the point of occurring every time the vehicle is driven as the date of this writing, December 3rd 2011. New worsened symptoms now include flashing vsc (vehicle stability control) at launch from a stop, which cuts engine power and compromises accurate steering. Sometimes the abs, trac and vsc lights come up immediately, sometimes only after repeated intrusive activations of abs/trac/vsc. All these warning lights also stayed on once for two entire days after leaving the vehicle rest overnight. All these dangerous random interventions of the abs/trac/vsc electronics started after the front rotors and pads were changed by a professional mechanic (a1-unity body, 1420 howe st in vancouver, bc, canada). The vehicle was federally and provincially inspected for canadian importation by the same mechanic before these problems started to happen. It was deemed to be in exceptional mechanical and working condition for its age and mileage. However the vehicle is now longer safe to drive because of this abs/trac/vsc defect, despite it being otherwise perfectly drivable. Toyota must issue the same recalls that they posted for defective trac and vsc for the 2003 year Sequoia models for the 2002 Sequoia models. Sequoia vehicles haven't received any hardware or software updates as far as abs/trac/vsc systems are concerned between 2001 and 2003, proof being that subsequent model years from 2001 all experience the same defects for the same reasons. 2001-2002 Sequoia vsc recalls need to be issued now!.
Stability control lights, abs lights, and brake lights come on intermittently. Abs does not work while lights are on.
The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that the brake warning light illuminated and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer advised the contact that nothing was wrong with the vehicle and turned the brake light off. The contact stated that after 1,900 miles, the brake warning light and the stability control warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer where the dealer advised that the stability control sensor caused the brake light to illuminate, which needed to be replaced. The contact did not have the stability control sensor replaced. The failure mileage was 25,000.
The contact owns a 2001 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that the vehicle stability control light illuminated on the instrument panel while driving 50 mph. During the failure, the front wheels locked and the vehicle pulled towards the right. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure and current mileages were approximately 119,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Anti-lock braking system engages suddenly with power loss and front end vibration. Vehicle stability control and traction control lights illuminate on dash. Abs and vsc lights remain on (abs and stability control therefore disengaged) and cannot be turned back on by operator. When vehicle is turned off, system appears to reset, but the problem repeats after restarting and driving several miles. Problem occurred twice today, on two separate drive events within a 2 our period.
My 2005 Toyota Sequoia has had issues for the past several years in accelerating. The vehicle does not get engaged and it almost stops moving for a second until the vehicle stability control kicks in. Today the light went off again vsc trac and the problems continue.
I own a 2007 Sequoia and a few months ago on random occasions while taking a right turn my vsc (vehicle stability control) light would turn on and the gas pedal would no longer supply gas to the engine. This is very dangerous especially if I am turning in to on-coming traffic with my entire family in the car. The cars coming up behind me often must slow down quickly to avoid rear ending me. My mechanic (not from a Toyota dealer) informed me that he had several customers who had come in with the same complaint. I contacted Toyota only for them to tell me that since it wasn't a recall there was nothing they would do. I searched the internet and have found a large number of folks with the same situation. Please do something about this before something very bad happens. Thank you.

2005toyota Sequoia, engine stops intermittantly, "electronic stability control" light come on, engine dies, not on a slippery road. Very hazardous if engine dies while driving.
When driving our 2005 Toyota Sequoia sr5 limited, sometimes while going straight but usually after a turn, the vehicle stability control light (little skidding car icon) flashes on the dashboard and all power is lost - you cannot accelerate. In addition, a severe grinding sound is heard, some of the time, when slowing to turn (not using brake pressure). This stalling has occurred since the vehicle was new. The dealer said it was a defective throttle body and replaced it. This did not solve the problem. Any subsequent time I asked them to check it out, they said they could not find anything wrong. Now it is happening several times a day. This past weekend, alone, we experienced this problem at least 5 times while driving. I, previously, contacted Toyota corp. And their response was that they will put my information into their files, but have no reports of any such incidents. However, looking on the internet, the 2003 Sequoia was recalled for this same problem. We are concerned that we are going to have a collision, due to a power loss: as when this happens, there is no way to get out of traffic or avoid other vehicles. It is a serious issue that I think Toyota is aware of but does not want to address. Looking at several Toyota forums on the internet, this is an issue with this vehicle for most owners. It appears that this is an issue that Toyota needs to address.
My wife was exiting the highway in our 2004 Toyota Sequoia when she heard beeping coming from the instrument panel and noticed the vsc/stability light on. She applied the vehicle brakes on the exit ramp and heard a grinding noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The weather conditions at the time of this event were dry and sunny. She was far enough away from other vehicles that it is undetermined if any increased braking distance happened as a result of this. Right after the braking/grinding, the vsc light went out and normal operation resumed.
The vehicle stability control (vsc) lights keep coming on at random and will not turn off until the engine is restarted. There was a voluntary recall from Toyota for this problem but the dealer said mine is not affected but obviously it is since I received a notice and the lights do come on. I also hear grinding noise when the abs engages. Toyota dealer wanted to charge me for the fix.
When driving conditions are dry, warm weather, I make a turn from a complete stop and the vehicle stability control (skid control) light starts blinking and acceleration is diminished significantly. The vehicle bogs down and I can not accelerate and almost get hit from the oncoming traffic. I have taking it to the dealer several times and for some reason, they cannot replicate it. My vehicle has 65000 miles on it now and it is happening more frequently. Unfortunately, the warranty has expired. But, this is a serious flaw in the design of the stability system. It happens on a daily basis. Please help in forcing a recall.
Vehicle stability control lights came on. The dealer says that the engine control computer must be replaced. The part alone is $2,100. 00, then labor to install. I have read numerous other reports of failure of this component which seems integral to the vehicle's steering and handling. Toyota published a technical bulletin in may 2006 recognizing this defect and changing the skid control computer.
