Brake Electric Antilock problems of the 1998 Toyota Sienna

Six problems related to brake electric antilock have been reported for the 1998 Toyota Sienna. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2004

While driving 5 mph abs engaged. This caused the consumer to have extended stopping distance when the brake pedal was depressed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2000

Brakes making clunking and scraping noise. Dealer says drums are cracking.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2000

The actuator pump for the abs locked up, Toyota is refusing to replaced the pump because the vehicle is out of warrenty. Nlm.

4 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 09/15/1999

Brake pedal almost goes to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance. Dealer has adjusted the brakes three times. The manufacturer has been notified. Also, rear brakes are not self adjusting. Owner should be notified of possible extended stopping distance.

5 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 06/01/1999

My wife was driving on I-5 on our 1998 Toyota Sienna van, when the brakes got locked-up and we started skidding. The vehicle went out of control and swerved to to the median and collided with the cable divider. We all survivived because of the cable, the van is still in body shop. I am worried about the safety of its brake system and the related parts.

6 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 05/02/1999

While consumer is driving tire pressure light goes on. Dealer says abs actuator is dfective. Dealership is waiting for parts to repair vehicle. Please add VIN#.
