On Dec. 3, 2007 at 10 am I left my morning exercise class and drove into the parking lot at the bank. I was pulling into a parking space, with my right foot lightly on the brake pedal, the Mini van suddenly accelerated at a high speed. It went over a curb and was stopped by a tree. It happened very suddenly, with no warning. The Mini van is currently at an auto repair center. The damage is estimated at over $4000. I am afraid to ever drive that van again. After the repairs are completed it will be taken to the Toyota dealer to be checked out by engineering.
Toyota Sienna advertises mpg Ave of 18 and I have only recieved 14mpg with mine. This is false advertising and costs consumers $100's of extra dollars!!.
There is a fault in the gas sensor which goes from the pedal to the engine. The car fails to accelerate when the pedal is depressed, then suddenly leaps forward, throwing the occupants back against the seats. It is dangerous to try to enter a highway, pass a slower vehicle, or retain speed when going uphill.
