Six problems related to seats have been reported for the 2006 Toyota Sienna. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2006 Toyota Sienna based on all problems reported for the 2006 Sienna.
The airbag sensor light comes on and flashes. It will shut off and turn on randomly. The wire harness under the seat becomes loose or damaged as the seats are moved and airbags are not detected. The light stays flashing and airbags are non-functional. Toyota knows about this but tries to charge thousands of dollars for them to replace their faulty wires.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that while driving 2 mph and making a left turn, another vehicle coming from oncoming traffic crashed into the passengers side of the vehicle and caused the vehicle to crash into a signal light pole. The contact stated that the seat belt failed to retract properly causing her to land on the front passengers side seat after the crash. As a result, the contact sustained cervical stiffness, back and neck injuries that required medical attention. The contact stated that she suffered severe injuries due to the vehicle not being equipped with a drivers side arm rest. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a impound lot. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 183,000. Aw.
While reconfiguring the middle row seats of my 2006 Toyota Sienna le, several 15 and 17 mm bolts fell loose from the seat. I removed the moldings around the seats and inspected the situation. My findings, documented with pictures, revealed several loose bolts in the assemble attaching the seat back with the seat bottom. Three bolts had come completely loose while three more were no longer tight in the passenger side middle-row seat. Four bolts were no longer tight in the driver side middle-row seat.
The srs light began to blink. I took the van to the dealership to diagnose the problem. They said it was due to an open air bag in the front passenger seat which would cost $2000 to repair. I have since searched the internet to find several other complaints about the same problem. The yellow harness under the seat could possibly be the problem. If this wire is wiggled, the light goes off for a period of time. However, it returns later. I feel like srs safety should be covered for the lifetime of the vehicle unless the vehicle has been in an accident and they deploy (as they should unless there is a faulty mechanism such as mine has). Toyota should do their part to keep customers safe, especially after we have spent thousands on a vehicle in hopes of having a safe vehicle to drive.
The six way automatic drivers' seat shifts while driving.
I bought a 2006 8 passenger Toyota Sienna on February 14 and discovered the next day that the second row seating had no arm rests. In sharp turns or when swerving to avoid an accident or debris in the road the second row passengers have nothing to hold on to and are thrown sideways toward the windows.
