1 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2024

Pressed the button to open the rear passenger sliding door and it would open. When opened manually it would open only about 12 inches. Then when we were driving on the highway the door opened on its own. The door had to be manually closed and now it will not open. This is now a safety concern that in the event of a crash passengers may not be able to exit the vehicle or the door could open again while driving.

3 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2017

The contact owns a 2013 Toyota Sienna. While driving 5 mph in a parking lot, the rear driver side sliding door opened independently. The contact was instructed to disengage the sliding door, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the latch fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v858000 (structure). The part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

4 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2016

The contact owns a 2013 Toyota Sienna. While driving approximately 45 mph, the rear driver's side sliding door opened without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN and failure mileage were unknown.

5 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2016

The contact owns a 2013 Toyota Sienna. While driving approximately 15 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when depressed. The vehicle accelerated without warning, the steering wheel seized, and the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the rear passenger door latch detached when the contact attempted to open the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
