The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Sienna hybrid. The contact had picked up the van from a dealer and was driving approximately 60 mph when the smell of something burning filled the passenger cabin. The contact pulled over and called the dealer who took the vehicle back and determined that the fuel line was rubbing against the right rear tire. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that also the "check battery" light had illuminated, the light blacks out the entire instrument cluster and cannot be reset. The contact stated that he took the vehicle back to the dealer and they could not repair the safety light failure. The dealer had diagnosed that the main batteries were getting overheated making the vehicle dangerous to drive. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact stated that the van modification facility had modified the vehicle with all of the defects and sold the van with the defects to him. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
