Britax car seat. Advocate 70-g3. manufacturer 01/2013. complaining of top latch component! we have owned this car seat for 3 years and never had an accidentwith it untilnow. we were sitting at a red light and got rear ended by a big pick up truck smashing our trunk in and lifting our back end off the ground. our one year old who was in this car seat was rear facing and latched in correctly wearing a light fleece (no puffy jacket. . We are very careful to follow every car seat rule). during the accident her top latch came undone! the adult sitting next to her witnessed the top half of her body fly forward hitting the seat she was facing! she vomited shortly after and was said to have a concussion! we are reporting here and complaining to britax! we are never buying that brand again and we hope they can fix this for any other children with this car seat that fails to do its job!we boughta graco rear facing car seat to replace this horrible one. we still have the car seatat our house(we are not using it)and sending a video to britax of how easily the clip comes undone after clicked in! we are not happy and upset that our daughter got injured!.

The e-z-on® adjustable vests are designed to be tethered to the vehicle latch system and the tether attaches to the vest right next to the head of the child wearing it. There is no way around having the tether positioned next to the head of the child and it is tethered with a thick, hard, heavy piece of metal. We have attempted to cover the hard metal with thick fabric and the hard metal is still quite capable of injuring the child wearing this safety seat, even with padding. I am amazed it is still on the market with the current design. We are unable to use this system and would advise others not to either for fear of significant head trauma from the child safety harness itself. Some of the information below is not completed because this safety seat was not listed in your directory and because the exact problem is not listed adequately, either. I consider this seat to be high risk for any child occupant because of the very obviously likelihood of head trauma! please look at their website and how the harness safety seat is set up in the vehicle. It is dangerous. I would be happy to provide images as well of my child sitting within the harness. We were not able to use this device at all due to this safety risk. I have a radian xtsl car seat that will not stay tightly installed in my 2008 Toyota Sienna when installed with latch in either the ff or rf position. I install it correctly, but due to the angle the loosening mecehanism hits the seat it continually becomes loose. I noticed this when I pulled on the strap to tighten the harness and the entire seat lifted off my vehicle seat. (related vehicle information: model year=2008, make=Toyota, model=sienna).

We bought a sunshine kids radian xtsl car seat in July 2010. We installed it using a seat belt in our 2010 Toyota Sienna. The seat seemed fine until we tried installing it with latch this past month. The seat kept coming loose. It would have less than 1" movement at the belt path when we began our trip and by the time we got home, would be much more than 1", probably a couple inches. We thought perhaps it was our son kicking the latch tightener, but this past weekend, we had to use latch with it for our youngest child. She cannot reach the latch tightener at all and the seat kept coming loose again. The seat model is 19556 and wasn't listed in the options when filing this complaint. Serial number is [xxx]. (related vehicle information: model year=2010, make=Toyota , model=sienna).

I own two sunshine kids superlatch radians (65sl) [model: us16500, dom 12/09, serial # 12090124403603]. I have installed them both rear facing and forward facing in my 2007 Toyota Sienna with latch. Initially, the installs appear to be tight and not move more than 1 inch in any direction. The latch strap on both car seats "self" loosen while the child rides in the seat. I am able to replicate the issue with every use regardless if seat is rear facing or forward facing. I have contacted sunshine kids to report the problem and was not given a solution to my complaint. I am currently certified as a child passenger safety technician. My fear is, the seat appears to be correctly installed and compatible with the vehicle but then it becomes compromised during/after use. Issue: adjustment buckle on the latch strap loosens over time.

Toyota Sienna 2011 top tether anchor bracket on the driver side 2nd row captain chair is too low for a top tether strap to hook on. The design of the 2nd row seats results in a lower anchor bracket on the driver side 2nd row seat as opposed to the passenger side 2nd row. Could result in parents disregarding warnings against not using a top tether if the car seat is equipped with one and creating an unsafe condition for the child. Van was purchased on 5/31; issue found the next day and reported to Toyota corporation on 6/2/2010. Told that no action would be taken based on my call as it was the first report of the problem.

Latch lower left of child restraint anchor broken- purchased at USA baby 1/24/2009- child restraint-make: sunshine kids name: monterey model# us15000 mfg date: 4/08 (related vehicle information: model year=2007, make=Toyota, model=sienna).
The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna and a dorel safety 1st alpha omega all-in-one child seat, model 22-152-bvl (na). The seat was manufactured on February 23, 2007. When the contact attempted to insert her safety seat into the vehicle using the latch system, the seat would not attach properly. Upon further inspection, she noticed that the lower anchors had a bent hook, which prevented proper attachment. The child is 27 months and weighs 31. 8 lbs. The manufacturer stated that the component was made out of aluminum and subject to spontaneous failure. The contact still has possession of the seat. The purchase date was unknown. Updated 03-09-09

While loosening the 5-point harness straps on our britax frontier child restraint (a forward facing, harnessed combination seat), the shoulder strap for the child's left shoulder came off the harness splitter plate when the left side was tugged to loosen the straps. This was while the child restraint was installed with the vehicle seatbelt using the long belt path installation method in our 2005 Toyota Sienna after approx. 3 months of regular use. I was unable to replicate the problem upon uninstalling the child restraint, but I am aware of other frontier owners who have had the same issue when loosening the straps and who have been able to replicate it while installed in their vehicles or uninstalled. This poses a risk to a child should this occur during a crash scenario and warrants corrective action to prevent injury or worse. I have reported the issue to britax's customer service, and the customer service rep. Noted our seat's model, batch number, date of manufacture, and our contact info. On sept. 5, 2008. I felt it was appropriate to also bring the issue to NHTSA's attention as well in the event that the issue is recall-worthy.

I purchased the seat and received it mid-April. I installed it using the latch into our van for about 2 wks and then it got moved to our car and was installed by the seatbelt. We then moved it back to the van installing it with latch for a long trip and the latch was stuck open so we had to install it using the seatbelt. (related vehicle information: model year=2001, make=Toyota, model=sienna).

: the contact stated the harness release button is accessible to the child. When the button is pressed, the straps release and the child becomes unsecured. The manufacturer indicated they had received similar complaints, but there was currently no recall or remedy available. The child seat is a britax marathon, the model number and date of manufacturer were unknown by the contact.
Mid-row passenger side seat belt guide/cover broken jamming the seat belt preventing it to retract. Failure repeated three to four times after each separate repairs. I'm concern for my 7-year old daughter who may not be properly restrainted after she leans forward and the seat belt does not retract.
Cosco child safety seat has ridges made into the back that were causing bruises on the consumer's child's back. The child has complained that the seat was hurting his back for awhile before the consumer finally checked the bruises. The manufacturer has been informed of the problem.
We want to file a complaint regarding the lack of lower anchor tethers and back tethers for children's carseats in the second row passenger seat in our new 2002 Toyota minivan. It was our understanding that they were required on 2002 models. When I called Toyota to complain, they stated their reason for not complying with the regulation was that they did not want to interfere with egress from the third row. I pointed out to them that egress would be prohibited since the seatbelts would be blocking the egress. The dealer did give us the option to return the vehicle, however, we were not able to find a Honda odyssey available for purchase. So we are stuck with 1990 technology on a 2002 vehicle. We feel this violates the spirit of the regulation, and we are filing this complaint in an attempt to make Toyota consider children's safety in all seats in their vehicles.
