The front tires are wearing out to an unsafe tread in under 15000 miles due to the suspension in the front of this vehicle. If people are not vigilant the tires become unsafe quickly due to poor engineering on the front end.

My 2012 Toyota Sienna having problem while braking on highway 65mph or above, when I hit brake it's start shaking so bad and brake doesn't work properly. I believe it is sway bar link or lower control arm. Even I had replaced once, it didn't helped and again I claimed warranty and replaced other set, but still having same issue.

The slip indicator light and alarm comes on sporadically, engaging the abs suddenly and unexpectedly, when we are on completely dry roads. Happens while driving 40-80 mph. And doesn’t matter if I’m going straight or turning.

The vehicle has had rocks get in the suspension 4 times so far which creates loud clunking noises and can cause a noticeable feel in the steering. The most recent time, after the rock entered the front end, the brakes were soft and required excessive pedal force followed by a clunk before the brakes abruptly applied. I like on a paved road with a rock driveway and it seems like the shielding for the front end is inadequate. I have friends with a 2022 Sienna that live on a gravel road that have experienced similar issues.

This is a braun side entry rampvan conversion. In 2008 there was a safety bulleting 34238 in which I took the vehicle in for inspection and any corrections. On January 19,2023 the rear axle mount broke off while driving. The vehicle was inspected by my insurance company, who denied my claim saying it was a result of wear and tear. The car fax report states it is a total loss due to flooding, which I am in the process of disputing. The cost to repair is several thousand dollars. Do I have any recourse regarding my vehicle. I had the vehicle serviced at Toyota for some normal mtce December 22 & 14th total cost of $3000. 00, and there was no mention from them that there was an issue, which could have caused an accident.

The van seems to prematurely wear tires out before their service life expectancy. I've owned the van for seven years, and I've had to purchase over five complete sets of tires. The front tires wear-out much faster than the rear tires, and do not last more than 15k miles. I've had several alignment jobs done, both (l&r) control arms replaced, ball joints, and struts - the van still wears out tires regardless of tire brand. I suspect the must be a design flaw causing premature wear and tear on tires on the front of the van, as I just replaced another set of tires from the yokohama brand recommended for the van. I've asked Toyota, and they claim ignorance of such a problem. It is my desire to make this problem known, and to have the government investigate if there is an design flaw in the Sienna van which is causing rapid part failures.

Slid warning light, vsc comes on randomly. Has been happening beginning at 110k miles. Taken to dealership and reported durning normal service. I worked at a Toyota dealer. Front end suspension has been rebuilt. Cv shafts replaced. Rock solid. Dangerous as the vsc system engages and the slid light comes on, tire speed control engages, happens in a normal 70mph easy turn on the expressway. No codes stored. Only warning lights and vsc actions engaging for no reason.
The rear electro magnetic coupler had to be replaced at 120000 miles. Online multiple complaints are listed for the same issue and Toyota has a recall issues for the same component for the rav4. So why not for the Toyota Sienna xle ltd awd thanks.
While driving approximately 70 mph the vehicle tends to "float" or wanted to change lanes on me. The vehicle would jerk to the left or to the right requiring corrective action on my part. At first I attributed the problem to the windy conditions, but later decided the wind was not the cause. It appears that when driving less than 40 mph, there is no problem. This problem continued for my entire trip (about 1400 miles). This is a vehicle that was modified by vmi into a handicapped accessible van. I don't know if regular Toyotas do this or not.
I have a 2015 Toyota Sienna le that I purchased new from the dealer. The original michelin tires had excessive wear after less than 2yrs and ~28k miles. I replaced these with continental tires(rated for 70k miles) and after 2years and at ~63k on the vehicle miles I had to replace those with general altimax (rated for 75k miles). Each time tires were replaced it received and alignment. I now need to replace the third set of tires at ~88k for set number four. Additionally I had to replace the rank and pinion (complete unit), both tie rods and both suspension control arms and ball joint assembly and a wheel alignment. Can is adult driven mostly in town but has one long road trip on it (6k miles). This will be the fourth set of tires on a vehicle with less than 100k miles along with 5-6 alignments. All tires have been maintained and rotated. This has to be a vehicle defect as I have multiple tire manufactures, all rated for more than double the tire life I'm getting. I have $2000 in tires so far (not counting the originals) $1250 in replacing the front end components noted and now have to spend another $1k on tires.
Excessive wear on tire always. 4 years and 4 sets of high mileage tires. Never gotten past 20k on a brand new set. Goodyear assurance and michiline defenders. Traction is always an issue at the 12k mark. Allighnmenta done every time and rotations every 5k.

Usually moving between 25- 45 mph. On any road. The vsc, traction control, and check engine light come on. For no reason this happens quite often daily. I have looked inti this and numerous, numerous people experience tge same problem.
One week ago I got in my car to go to work and when I start driving I heard a strange noise every time I turn my streeing wheel . So I took my car to my mechanic and he found that my front strut mount on driver side of vehicle is damaged . He told me that this part is not supposed to go bad as yet on my car.

The vehicle has been wearing tires down unevenly to the point steel braid becomes exposed. It has had 3 sets of tires in less than 2 years. It has been aligned twice. The rear wheels are not within specs and are fixed and in adjustable. Toyota has refused to look into the problem any further and has stated that it might be how the van rides. Having the alignment off causes the tires to wear down to an unsafe level and it affects vehicle handling and performance.

2012 Toyota Sienna awd has excessive premature wear on tires. New set of tires, following manufactures recommended maintenance, has consumed a set of tires in under 20,000 miles. Driving conditions were normal in-town operations, maintained recommended tire inflation, rotation.
When driving the speed limit, going downhill, uphill, straight, around a curve, in the rain or dry weather, the vsc and slip/trac lights up, the abs system is activated / brakes engage. I loose complete control of the van. I can no longer steer or break. The breaks engage, but it causes the car to veer to the right. I have taken the car to the mechanic 5 times now and no codes show, even after he is able to the vehicle to repeat this behavior. It seems to happen a lot on off/on ramps. It happens mostly on highways, but it has happened on two lane roads. The vehicle is completely dangerous to drive. It has almost caused several accidents. I have replaced the yaw sensors and had several alignments and this still happens. After a lot of research, we have found that this is actually really common in Toyota Sienna. People are saying that the bushings in the rack in pinion wear out and the entire rack and pinion system needs to be replaced. Some people have replaced the rack and pinion and claim that there is still a problem. But the majority say after the rack and pinion is replaced there is not further problems.

Purchased my Sienna in February, 2019 with 41k miles. Days after purchase, I brought a noise to the dealerships attention and was told it was road noise. Fast forward to June, 2019 and the noise is worse. My driver's side strut is blown at 44k miles. Finding a replacement has been a hassle. This part is obviously a manufacturer defect and should be covered by Toyota for replacement. Currently waiting and hoping the backordered struts ship to me so I can get it replaced. Also, dealership recommended replacing one strut. Common sense dictates that you always replace struts in pairs, otherwise you will drive a lopsided vehicle and cause more trouble down the road.
On June 6, 2019 at approximately 6 pm my vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. I was driving at 15 mph and it accelerated to 40-50 mph. Braking did not slow down the vehicle. I jumped the curb and hit three small trees. It came to a halt after undercarriage damage had been sustained. It was towed to cummings mobility where I purchased the vehicle. They could not determined what caused the unintended acceleration.
Vehicle would engage brakes by itself and vsc and traction control lights would start flashing and beeping when going around curves or hitting bumps in the road. This was frightening, and caused me to not in good conscience sell the vehicle outright to another person, so I lost thousands of dollars by trading it in. This happened intermittently for over a year. Estimated financial loss $4000. 00.

My 2013 Sienna was parked with remote button used to open the rear hatchback door. It was open and we were loading up the back area when the hatchback suspension failed and the door came down. This trapped the individual who was standing under it and it took another person to help get it off them. It was taken to the mechanic who informed us the shock was bad and that there were recalls for this issue. However it seems not the 2013 version which seems to have the same issue as the recalled one.
Both front springs broke. Part of the left front spring contacted the tire, damaging it. If vehicle was driven it would have ripped the sidewall and could have resulted in a crash. This was preceded by a clanking noise while driving.
Tl the contact owns a 2004 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the vehicle failed an inspection due to extensive rust, corrosion, and holes associated with the frame (engine cradle). An independent mechanic diagnosed that the frame, engine cradle, and suspension arms may need to be replaced, otherwise the vehicle was unsafe to be driven and the parts may fracture at any moment. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
Every time I turn the steering wheel at low speed. . . It make noise sound like a lose bolt in the universal joint. . Toyota dealer could not find anything.
I have a 2015 Toyota Sienna se. I am currently at 49092 miles and am purchasing my third set of tires. The tire wear on this vehicle is abnormally high. I have purchased high quality tires (bridgestone 80k warranty, and michelin 60k). First set of factory issued tires were worn down to 3/32-4/32 in 24000 miles, second set was used to 4/32 in 25000 miles. Vehicle is driven under normal conditions, both highway and city driving. This is a significant safety issue to me in regards to handing, steering and stopping and it feel it may be attributed to the design of the vehicle itself to include the suspension components, frame setup, and weight of vehicle.
The vsc is going off randomly, in dry, safe conditions. Almost always when I am turning to the left in a long turn. But has also happened on a windy road, driving 15mph or less, on ever single turn sometimes just the alarm, light flashing on dash & engine dethrottling, other times add the steering wheel pulling & brakes pumping themselves. We have had it in 3 different shops & the computer detects no codes, all parts in question (suspension, yaw, rotational position sensor, etc) are in good working order, nothing loose, worn or otherwise not functioning properly. We have had the yaw sensor replaced after reading many other reports of this issue, but it didn't help. We love our van, but it is now a death box. We never know when the vsc malfunction will activate, making the car unsafe to drive. When will Toyota acknowledge this & help owners?.
Wheelchair van conversion gone wrong. I have it documented. The state of ohio spent $109 thousand I spent $40 thousand. The van is not safe to drive. I have documents from the Toyota dealer that the steering turn more left than turns to the right. I have more documents.
From 2016 and until he received his converted 2015 Toyota Sienna in February 2018, osu outpatient rehab was responsible for assessing rick's disease progression and ensuring that he was able to safely drive his modified vehicle. Opportunities for ohioans with disabilities administers a vehicle modification program, whereby disabled consumers purchase a vehicle suitable for adaptation and ood contracts and pays for vehicle to be retrofitted with adaptive equipment. Under ohio administrative code 3306-6-02 (motor vehicle modifications, scope and limitations. Wishing to participate in ood's vehicle modification program, rick purchased a 2015 Toyota Sienna for $37,657. 25. Ood contracted with mc mobility (now mobility works) for the installation of adaptive equipment. Ood paid mc mobility $95,210 in two installments. The first payment of $89,690 occurred January 22, 2018. A second payment of $5,520 happened on March 20, 2018. On December 27, 2018, ingenium engineering's principal, george w. Hicks, inspected the modified van. Mr. Hicks identified a few important deficiencies. He wrote that an accelerator pedal guard must be installed per ohio vehicle modification rules and that the vehicle pulled to the right while driving. 2-15-18 osu hospital medical records. Occupational therapy assistant kaitlin finch made notes on page 38 the van should have failed inspection non-working equipment. The paravan space steering did not work correctly. Van released? mobility did not calibrate paravan steering bad installation the wheels turn more left than turn right. The steering column is installed wrong. These two inspection reports were given to ood contracting office. The ood contracting office paid for the handicap equipment and the equipment was in non-working condition. The vehicle was delivered to mr. Richard wells. Please see the enclosed cd.
I am a disabled federal employee. I have a new handicap conversion van from vmi vantage mobility int. It is not safe to drive. The suspension is horrible.
I was driving my van in kings mtn. Hwy 216, when I heard a loud sound from the rear of the vehicle, the back of the car started fishtailing. I was near a garage, so I stopped and they told me my rear axle had come loose and I needed to take it to a mobility dealer. I called illderton in charlotte and had it towed there. Ultimately they told me to take it to a body shop. I called braun and the woman said, "there is no warranty, the car is over 10 years old, they don't last forever". I paid out of pocket to have it repaired and then found out there was a recall. It states: on certain handicapped mobility conversion rampvans manufactured by independent mobility systems and built on Toyota minivan chassis, the driver side rear axle beam mount may not have been adequately welded to the chassis. This may result in a squeaking noise, a rough ride, or degradation in vehicle control. Consequence: the mount may become partially separated from the chassis. Passengers, pedestrians, or other motorists may be injured or killed. That is exactly what happened. See photo.
