36 Wheel problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 07/20/2019

Uneven wear tires. I bought a used Toyota Sienna last year Jan of 2018 with brand new sets of tire. After 20k miles, it was down to 3mm and have it replace. I was searching forums and found out that everybody has the same problem as me. It was a bad engineering of the van. I did the alignment after I got the van but I still experienced the uneven wear. I also balanced the tires every time I feel my steering wheel shaking. There must be a defect on the van as I am not alone with this problem. Two of my tires was bald on the outer side. Most people that owns Sienna said that every 20k miles, they have to replace their tires and I agree with them.

37 Wheel problem of the 2013 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 07/11/2019

Our van has 93,800 miles on it and is making a grinding noise when we turn left and right while moving at slower speeds. We took the van in and were told that the struts need replaced and it was unsafe to drive. This is low miles for this vehicle and would be still under warranty if it was not older than 5 years. This should not need a repair like this already. Many other people have had the same complaints on his forum at about the same mileage. Toyota prides itself on making vehicles to last but have made several mistakes on this model. Cost to fix it is $750. I believe this issue should be looked into along with the reason our van has been going through tires about every 25,000 miles.

39 Wheel problem of the 2010 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 06/23/2019

Years ago, responding to a recall about spare tire assembly, the dealership said I was "fine. " on 6 /23/2019, while driving at highway speed, north toward lake george, NY, just south of exit 18, there was a loud thump under the vehicle, and as I was sitting in the passenger seat, saw the tire fly out and slide onto the grassy median of the highway. Driver also saw it in the rear view mirror. We were unable to stop or retrieve the tire. When we returned from trip, I called dealer service rep. And asked: wasn't this defective spare tire assembly part of an old safety recall? service rep. Said they would fix spare tire assembly. I demanded they also include the spare tire. After calling Toyota, they agreed. Vehicle is being worked on.

42 Wheel problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/29/2019

2017 Sienna - 16886 miles. Firestone tires started wearing thin at 16,462 miles. Was told Toyota does not handle that. Called firestone and was told to go to corporate store. Was told at firestone store tires were at 5/32 and nothing they could do because tires were not at 4/32. Concerned because family car, tires should not start to wear at less than 17,000 miles. At 16,886 miles while my wife was driving down the city road at 40 mph, 2 firestone tires blew out. My concern is more tires are on road and there has to be a problem with that batch of tires. Firestone still will not say they are in wrong.

43 Wheel problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 04/15/2019

Check engine light, vsc light, traction control light. All 3 lights came on at same time. They say it's the gas cap, it's not the gas cap, they say to reset it, that doesn't work. I was driving home, nothing happened, the lights just came on. No warning sound, nothing to indicate there was a problem, my car seems to drive just fine, but the lights won't go off, and I have 3 kids that I take and pick up from school.

44 Wheel problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/31/2019

Recently obtained ~60k service at dealership. Advised that michelin premiere a/s tires purchased just 15k miles previously were measured at 4/32" in the front and 5/32" in the rear and should be replaced. Severe scalloping observed on the outside edge of the tires. The set of four tires were purchased a one of the large, us, wholesale club stores. The Toyota service writer stated that my wife that such stores carry inferior quality tires, though they may be branded and labeled the same as the models carried by Toyota. I contacted michelin about this claim and was told that it is false. The tires on this vehicle have been rotated roughly every 5000 miles or so during schedule prepaid maintenance on the vehicle. There was a mechanical issue noise from the front end in March of 2018, just after the new tires were installed. Toyota replace the front-right axle shaft, which did not resolve the problem. Ultimately, both front wheel bearings were replaced. Toyota performed the work under warranty and stated that an alignment was not necessary. It could be entirely coincidental, or the axle and bearing work could have every thing to do with the early demise of an $800 set of tires. However, after much research online, it seems that I am not the only one who has experience the issue with a set of high quality tires lasting 15 to 25k miles, though warranted for much greater ranges in the area of 60 to 70k. It appears that there are many people who have had issues with early abnormal tire wear. Toyota in most cases blames the driver, or the tire manufacturer. It would seem clear to me that the problem is with the vehicle. Toyota must be responsible for purchasing and/or replacing tires and performing necessary alignment or suspension maintenance to resolve the issue.

45 Wheel problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/19/2019

I purchased my 2017 Toyota Sienna with less than 10 miles on the odometer. I've taken my car to dealership for service every 5k miles. Currently, my car has 26, 892 miles and I just happen to look at the tires and all 4 tires were wear out on the outside edge. I was advised by a tires shop that it needs to be replace soon. They said it is a known problem with Toyota Sienna and the mgf are not doing anything to correct the issue. My alignment check out to be okay. I expected the tires to last much longer. Please advise.

46 Wheel problem of the 2012 Toyota Sienna

However, the contact stated that the tires did wobble while driving down a hill one day. The contact took the vehicle to lakeland Toyota 2925 mall hill dr, lakeland, FL 33810 (863) 688-5451 where the mechanics did repair the damaged light. 47 Wheel problem of the 2014 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/11/2019

My Sienna minivan with 38k miles told needs 4 new tires. Purchased certified preownen-21kmiles- report gave tires ok- paid $26k- tires rotated 1/2019 no word of tire dry rot- March 2019 told 1/4 in tread and rot starting. Read cargurus on line and 20 pages of e-mail reports of tire failures at 20-30k miles on Siennas- multiple replacements necessary. No disclosure of this ongoing problem by dealer. This presents danger on the road if tires not replaced and economic hardship to car owners.

48 Wheel problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 02/25/2019

Extreme tire wear on the outside of the front tires at 15,000 miles - requiring immediate replacement.

49 Wheel problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

We are experiencing excessive tire wear on outer edges. Nothing was mentioned about uneven tire wear until 10k miles mark. Tires were rotated every 5k. Had to pay and perform all wheel alignment at 10k. Few weeks ago, I am not able to get repair shops to repair a punctured nail on one of the tires because they deem unsafe to repair a tire worn outer age. The van now has 19k miles and I am looking to get new set of tires.

50 Wheel problem of the 2012 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 11/09/2018

The tires wear out too quickly. Two years ago I bought 70000 mile tires and after less the 30000 miles all four tires were worn down on the outside edge. The alignment was checked at the dealer every 10000 miles and the tires were rotated. This is a safety issue because the tires get excessively worn before they are expected to. The car was not moving. I noticed the excessive wear and took it to the dealer. They said that this car just eats up tires.

51 Wheel problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

My 2015 Toyota Sienna xle 8 passenger tyre wear less than 25 k. I changed my factory installed tyre on 24 k , after that I did 2 alignments and regular tyre rotation till my odo now 39 k , my front wheels are ready for replacement in another 2-3 k miles. Front wheels are wearing uneven, its outside rim is wearing out. It is definitely a problem with the manufacturer, please help the customers. I m not able to change full set tyre worth 600 dollar every 20k miles.

52 Wheel problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 10/13/2018

Purchased vehicle brand new, tires worn to a dangerous level from normal highway driving by 30,000 miles.

53 Wheel problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

Car is brand new. Excessive outer wear on front tires in only 12000 miles. Got new tires and did alignment. Now after 15000 miles I have the same problem in new tires.

54 Wheel problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/15/2018

I am on my 3rd set of tires (including original) in a 3 year old van. My second set was purchased at 34449 miles on 12/2/16. I purchased 75000 tires, as of today I have 78850 miles on the van, so I used only 44401 miles of 75000 miles tires. In September of 2018, I noticed a strange wobbling in the rear passenger back of the van. I took it to our mechanic at reese's garage and I told me my tire was about to blow and I needed new tires. He suggested I don't drive the van, as it was "unsafe". Took it to another garage (barnes service center) and was told the same thing. I was also told this is a common problem with Sienna. I did some research and learned that this is indeed a problem!! I contacted the executive office of Toyota, and they indicated that other factors must be considered. My alignment was good, my shocks/struts are good, I don't drive a lot, just to & from my kids school, sporting events, and I don't drive like I'm in the daytona 500. There was excuse after excuse. This is the second time I have been told that my van is "unsafe" and almost had 2 blow outs. I put my concerns on social media and I learned there are many Sienna owners complaining about tires wearing too quickly. Toyota needs to fix the problem before someone gets hurt. I don't feel safe driving my children in the van.

56 Wheel problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 08/13/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. Whenever the contact parked the vehicle and attempted to turn it off, the key would fall out of the ignition. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 17v657000 (power train) and 14v273000 (tires). There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 177,000.

57 Wheel problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/20/2018

Excessive inside tire wear at only 35,000 miles, scalleped pattern on all four tires. All prior service completed by Toyota care/Toyota dealer, every 5,000 miles, with no reporting of a problem to owner. A) alingnment problem from factory, and b) no evaluation by service professionals or report of condition to owner. I would not be aware of this problem if I did not do the 35,000 mile service myself. The problem is a safety issue and severe enough that tires have to be replaced.

58 Wheel problem of the 2011 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/18/2018

Tires on this vehicle are experiencing excessive tire wear. I bought the vehicle used, but it had a new set of tires on it. The tires had to be replaced at about 18,000 miles due to excessive wear on the outside tread of the tires. The following is a video I posted on youtube describing the problem: https://youtu. Be/2eok7u3raym.

59 Wheel problem of the 2011 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

Tires worn out so quickly, I have 94,500 miles & this is my third set. Tires stay good for only 20,000/25,000 miles. I do regularly tier rotate, balancing & alignment but still worn out. I am using michelin primacy mxv4(same kind of tiers) when I bought car, all time. It's seems Toyota had bad design so tires worn out so frequently. I went on cargurus. Com & saw lots of similar kind of complains.

60 Wheel problem of the 2010 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

Noticed excessive tire wearing on one of the rear wheels. Alignment shop said it's caused by alignment issue of the rear wheel and unfortunately it's not adjustable. When I searched online, I saw multiple people complaining about the same issue.

61 Wheel problem of the 2008 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/19/2018

My lug nuts are swollen. This is apparently a common problem with Toyota because they use a two part lug nut design. Water gets between the two parts, swells and I cannot remove my tire. Thank goodness I was near a mechanic and not 60 miles nowhere. I could not get the wheel off the car with my car based tools.

62 Wheel problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

Bought vehicle new, live in florida with no potholes, etc. The van is extremely hard on tires, first set of michelin primacy mxv4 tires lasted to 26,500 and were shot. Replacement michelin premier ltx tires are shot in 20,000 miles. Both of these michelin tires were supposed to last 60,000 miles each. Never any damage to the vehicle, I am the only driver, but I just spent close to $800 at an alignment shop getting camber kits and shims installed and one new front strut all trying to get the vehicle alignment into factory specs. Again, never any damage to the vehicle and all tires wore out relatively evenly, just way too prematurely. First problem in my opinion is that all vehicles should have alignment adjustment ability built in, there should not be need for camber bolt kits and shims for the rear axle. Next problem is this excessive tire wear on Toyota Sienna's is clearly documented all over the internet, so this is not an isolated problem, but a wide spread Toyota problem. Toyota should resolve this for their customers.

63 Wheel problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 02/18/2018

Excesive front tires wear. All services at certified Toyota dealer. Need to replace tires at 12000 miles (brand new!!) today 05/17/2019 the van is 28000 miles and I will need to replace tires again. Really not normal. I research online and many complaints of same issues.

64 Wheel problem of the 2016 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/10/2018

Vehicle is 1. 5 years old, about 20k miles, and just received word that we'll need 4 new tires @ $300/ea because outside wearing is occurring. Dealer nor michelin taking responsibility or warranty, both pointing at each other for the issue. This appears to be an ongoing issue with this vehicle - was not disclosed before purchasing the Sienna that tires would only last 20k miles on this vehicle.

65 Wheel problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/02/2018

Excessive tire wear on outer edges. Tires were rotated every 5,000 miles or so, after 20,000 tires were very worn. Replaced at 30,000, which was actually way past what was safe for them. Now, with michelin defenders, an alignment upon installation (which did not show anything), and proper tire pressure at 4500 miles, same wear is happening. Toyota's response was that it is a heavy vehicle. What is tires are falsely labeled for higher milage than they get or are the Sienna tires not the appropriate size for the weight of the vehicle? attached photos: front wear at 4500 miles as compared to back tire and original tires at 30,000.

66 Wheel problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 12/22/2017

I am having to replace all the tires, with only 19,903 miles on my awd 2017 minivan. At my 10,000 mile Toyotacare check, they didn't rotate the tires because they said no rotation needed due to less tread on back tires, so already noticing uneven wear. At 15000, they only rotated one side. Now at 20,000 they tell me the front tires show inner shoulder wear. They did rotate. Had an independent double check. The tires that had been on front are very worn/smooth on inner side, tread less than 5 in the middle. These are the tires that came on the minivan when I bought it, brand new. They are run flat tires. They cost over $1000, and lasted less than 20,000 miles, and only 14 months of driving. No spare tire or jack came with the van, nor is there space to carry a spare, almost forcing me to buy more run flat tires. From what I've read recently, Toyota minivans are wearing tires out much sooner than other makes.

67 Wheel problem of the 2013 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 11/13/2017

This Mini van is the absolute worst vehicle for tire wear. At 90,000 miles, I have put on 5 different sets of tires. I've rotated the tire fairly religiously at 6-8k miles and even though the tires are wearing evenly, they wear out fast especially on the front of the vehicle. This is an engineering defect that Toyota should be held accountable for. It also puts the occupants at risk of blowout as tires are wearing much faster than is normal.

68 Wheel problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

I have a brand new Toyota Sienna and the tires seem to start showing sign of wearing off in 6 months, as if it has alignment issues or something. The car does not pull to one side or anything. The dealership told me that it could be the tire pressure that needs to be kept up and they said that the tire pressure indicator is not good enough to make sure if the pressure is good? also they told me that the tires these days are softer so they don't last as long? this all seems a little hard for me to believe. Oem tire warranty up to 60k but not last long . Just change new sets of tire with alignment . Toyota engineering needs to address this issue.

69 Wheel problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

Steering do not stay straight while I am driving this vehicle. Since I purchased, I went to Toyota in the beginning they fix it but issue was not resolve and as of today same problem and I replaced new tires still alignment is the biggest problem. Lighting is not strong to see deer on the road.

70 Wheel problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/14/2017

Excessive tire wear on front outside tires. Wheels/tires have been balanced and rotated their whole life. Alignment of vehicle is good. Tires have been constantly monitored to remain the recommended pressure of 36 psi. Lifespan of tires is supposed to be 60000-80000 miles. Vehicle is currently at 26000, and tires are shot. This is clearly a flawed design. Vehicle is adult driven.
