Six problems related to front seat belt retractor have been reported for the 1996 Toyota T100. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Seat belt tensioner too weak and allows seat belt to hang loose once buckled. Unwary driver closes door and a loop of seat belt hangs outside vehicle. Could result in catastrophic results in crash. Not uncommon for me to see other T100 pickups driving down the road with a loop of belt visible outside the vehicle.
Both front seatbelts fail to retract. Often since they don't retract, they get caught in the door when closed and cannot restrain the driver/passenger in a crash. Please help! they've been replaced by capital Toyota in salem oregon, once. Thank you!.
The seat belt does not retract properly causing the belt to get closed in the door. Nlm.

Drivers side seat belts do not retract properly. Do to this condition excess slack is often caught in the door while driving causing an unsafe condition. The passenger seat belt also performs poorly. It occasionally will not give enough slack for the passenger to fasten the seat belt. I have had the drivers side belt replaced numerous times due to abrasions it has received from being caught in the door. The passenger belt has also been replaced once. I beleive that since this is such a critical safety component that it should be recalled.
Front seat belt won't retract.
