Eight problems related to air bag not deploy have been reported for the 1996 Toyota Tacoma. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving 40 mph consumer applied the brakes and they locked up. This caused consumer's vehicle to collide with the vehicle in front. Upon impact, both frontal air bags failed to deploy. Driver and passenger sustained minor injuries. Vehicle was towed to the driver's residence.
The airbag has never deployed and has never needed to. It simply stopped working. Shouldn't this be a recall by Toyota? as the feds require this system, shouldn't I receive assistance from them. Or, can I have the airbag disengaged completely? thanks, john m. Peeples.
Consumer's brother was driving approximately 50 mph when he lost control of vehicle and rolled over, off the road. But the air bags did not deploy, as a result driver sustained a fatal injury and died.
Vehicle was invoved in an accident when a vehicle in the rear struck consumer's vehicle, causing consumer to hit vehicle in front. Consumer's vehicle was totaled. Also, air bag did not deploy. Dealer / mfr notified.
After an frontal impact, air bag did not deploy.
While driving about (45) mph vehicle was involved in a head-on crash and the driver's side air bag did not deploy. Vehicle is being repaired.
During frontal impact at speeds of 40mph, the driver's side air bag did not deploy.
During a front right impact accident, the driver's side air bag did not deploy. The speed at the time of the accident was 25 mph.
